Ahhh, look how nice and clean and new this thread is .

And there is a big ScaryHairy birthday cake for us all to share. I am not being good till after Thursday afterall...

Bucky2008 · 17/07/2008 16:43

Aw thanks girls . I felt the cyber hand holding! .

It would appear that I am not on death's door afterall after my lap and dye, so here I am returned .

It was not all good news though . I don't really know what the deal is but the doctor who came round after the op managed to tell me that I have a fibroid. His detailed diagnosis what that its 'not that big' and so 'shouldn't cause problems although they can cause miscarriage'. . What does 'not that big' mean exactly??? Not the size of a watermelon, or a bit bigger than a pea? As usual thought of everything I wanted ask after he walked off. I managed to collar a nursey looking woman to ask her if it could grow and she said 'yes, they do'. So now I have worked myself into a paranoid googling frenzy. . As I had a MC I am now wondering if that is what caused it . I had NO idea that there was anything like that going on, I thought I was perfectly fine....On the plus side all the 'plumbing' is fine.

Anyway, sorry for the mememe post. JB glad you are feeling a bit better and they are giving you special attention. And PnM, I def think I should start my speedy sperming business...2 weeks is ridulous! .

Oh TMI bit....there is LOADS of blood (and AF is not around). I asked them why if they were just having a poke around with a camera? . Apparently uteruses and tubes are not standing up like they are in a text book and flop around and they have to sick implements up you and shove stuff around . However, have very strong pain killers which are making me feel like I have had several margaritas so all is good .

hi girls
bucky i hope everything has gone well for you today xx
GG sorry TEW got you i hope you are ok
hope everyone else is ok
PnM divebombed by a bat!!!??? i hope the experience hasnt left you too shaken!! my DH is terrified of bats (and most other things that move) and i can imagine the blood curdling scream if it had happened to him so i am quietly chuckling due to that thought
to everyone and quickly ducks as PnM whips said bat at eis head
xx ei xx

GorgonsGin · 17/07/2008 15:03

dropped you a text Bucky - good luck with everything.

Can only post very quickly as I am swamped at work, but I though I'd let you ladies all know that AF arrived. Disappointed, but not really very upset. I expected it. We'll just have to move on and try again this month.

hello to all regulars. I'll pop back later

loustillwantsaBFPtoo · 17/07/2008 13:05

hope all is well Bucky
hello to everyone else - must dash, mad day today... sorry very rude of me.

ScaryHairy · 17/07/2008 09:59

Just popping in to hold your hand too, Bucky.

Caitni · 17/07/2008 09:58

Morning all

PnM two weeks!? I just don't understand how these things take so long...and dive bombed by a bat! The nature spotter in me finds that very cool I loved reading that you were posting via your mobile while watering veg. You multi tasker you!

Ei hope you're doing well!

SH so glad you've got a referral. And don't worry, they won't think you're a drama queen - you've a right to reassurance about what's going on with your own body!

Bucky hope today goes well and thinking of you .

MOB hope you're doing OK today xx

Morning to GG Lou JB Mibbes and everyone else. Hope you're all well on this overcast, vaguely rainy day!
Cxx

PicknMix · 16/07/2008 22:40

Not sure if you'll see this before you go in but I wish you the best of luck for tomorrow bucky. Let us know how you're doing when you feel strong enough - hope the doggies give you lots of luck licks before you go in!

Sh thats brilliant news that the doc has referred you so quickly - august is only just a few weeks away. I really hope they can give you some answers.

I'm off to bed now but hello to everyone else -such lovely news that the you are being so well looked after jb, its nice to hear the sickness is calming down a little.

Omigoodness - I'm out in the garden writing this on my mobile whilst I water the veg and I've just been dive bombed by a bat! (just a little insight into PnMs exciting little world - its non-stop party time down in the country!!)

Oooo, also, can you believe my dh told me he actually has to wait two weeks for someone to call him about arranging an appt for his sperm test?? I know there are far more important life changing medical things the hospital has to accommodate but why does it have to take so long?! Rubbish!

Right, really am off now, night all! Xx

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 16/07/2008 21:14

that is really good news scary!! brilliant that your GP is referring you so promptly hopefully you wont need the appointment as you will get a sticky bean before then (although that said august is only a matter of weeks away where is this year going to?) either way hopefully when you go to see your consultant you will have a bfp to celebrate aswell as the extra support
xx ei xx

ScaryHairy · 16/07/2008 20:31

Hi all

Bucky poor Molly having zits. Is it linked to her kennel cough? (I am now wondering whether Molly is hormonal or maybe I have kennel cough (as we have bad skin on common)). Lots of luck for tomorrow. I will be thinking of you so make sure you come on here when you feel able and let us know how it went.

MOB please don't stress about the smear. It could be absolutely nothing. The people who work in the lab read loads of smears one after the other and it is pretty common for them to have one where the result is not clear (which is often because the sample is not in great condition) so they refer them for follow up out of an abundance of caution.

JB I'm so glad you and jollycub are well and that you are managing to keep some food down!

LMAO at the thought of GG (another holiday?! )and Caitni with big red dots on their heads. Can you arrange for the needles on Tuesday - that way I'll be able to find you when we meet...

Big waves to Ei and Picknmix. I hope you're both well.

Well, I went to see the GP and explained what's been going on. There was a bit of a palaver because they had lost my appointment, then they sent me to see some healthcare assistant who wanted to weigh me and then finally I got to see a doctor. He waffled on a bit about how a specialist won't be able to do anything about miscarriages (which of course is true) but agreed to refer me because I need advice on the ectopic, what might have caused it etc. I do have a concern that I might have endometriosis (but must stop doing self-diagnosis by google...)- I have back ache and a couple of other symptoms and that can cause both ectopics and miscarriages. Anyway, I have an appointment in August when I get back from holiday which I think is pretty good. I'm not sure what the consultant will make of me (probably think I am a big drama queen) but I need some reassurance so they will just have to provide!!

Caitni · 16/07/2008 16:30

JollyBear it's nice to hear that you're being taken care of and that jolly cub is kicking away!

MOB I did some googling (I know, I know, googling is the way of satan and is NOT the same as proper medical advice...I try to chant this whenever I'm faced with a medical issue!) and it seems like Ei's advice is good - chances are the 6 month check up will be fine. And great link from Bucky! Never ceases to amaze me how much I learn from you wise Mumsnetters! It may be worth asking for more info about what the smear results actually say (part two of getting full results out of reluctant receptionists). I also want to say that it sounds like you and Mr MOB have a strong and loving relationship, which hopefully helps at times like this when it seems like there are too many obstacles to overcome.

Bucky I was ing at poor Molly's acne - maybe she's becoming a teenager now? Better keep an eye on her, she'll be all sulky soon, saying she never asked to be born before stomping out of the room muttering that no one understands her! And best of luck at the hospital tomorrow. Will be thinking of you and sending lots of [crossing fingers emoticons] that your tubes are clear.

GG oooh hearing that you're on the GI diet is making me think I'll start it this weekend. Glad to hear it's going well for you. You can totally lose a stone before Bali - amazing how a couple of pounds a week adds up.

SH hope the GP went well.

And big hello to PnM Ei Lou and everyone else.

JollyBear · 16/07/2008 15:12

Oh MOB it never rains eh? Ei's experience sounds very encouraging. Perhaps you could ask to be seen sooner than 6 months, just to put your mind at rest. I hope you and MrMOB are taking good care of one another at the moment

You are all very sweet asking after me and jollycub. I'm being well looked after by the hospital, being a 'special' case after my transplant. I even got a quick scan yesterday (17 weeks on Friday) - one of the upsides of seeing the consultant! Everything was fine and jollycub was kicking like mad, I'm surprised I still can't feel anything. The sickness hasn't stopped although it is much, much improved. It just takes me by surprise sometimes and (TMI alert) I lose my breakfast!

Best of luck at the hospital tomorrow bucky. Make sure you do take it easy for a few days afterwards and let your DP look after you. LOL at poor Molly's acne, poor girl! You'll have to get her some doggy foundation.

PnM I hope you and your DH don't have too long to wait for his results. It really is crazy the amount of time it takes to get these things back. Fingers crossed for you both.

ei Sorry TEW got you. Damn her. I hope you are still taking it easy after your CP. You always seem to be rushing about helping your family and looking after your DD!

PicknMix · 16/07/2008 14:20

Oh mob, why do things like this always happen together?? Really feel for you today - such a lot to take on and get to grips with . Yay for an enthusiastic MrMob though making the most of ov - you can't fault him for trying, eh! So pleased you have resident expert gg to ask questions - I can do tea and sympathy but I'm not very good on the technical bits!

Must be a huge relief to have your temperature drop sh - I'm so sorry for what you're going through but on the other hand really pleased to know its most prob not another ep. Do let us know how it goes at the docs today, hope they give you some support and information.

Poor old Molly dog! (did lol at gg's comment re pcos tho !). My step mums boxers used to suffer with acne - she used to use a bit of teatree on then which worked well at your comment bout knowing that you know your dogs aren't humans!! In my line of work, I do the opposite and I end up refering to my own doctor as a vet sometimes!!

So lovely to 'see' you jb - how is everything going?? How is the sickness?

Hi to Caitni and gg, am ing at the thought of a 2ww posse wandering around London with big red bruises on their foreheads, like some sort of WIMBEWAI[N]F badge of honour!

And hi to everyone I've missed! Apologies x

End of lunch break so best go do some work!

Xx

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 16/07/2008 14:04

sorry that meant to say TEENY BEARCUB not teen y earcub oh typos the bane of my existence...

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 16/07/2008 14:02

i forgot to add bucky good luck for tomorrow we will all be there with you (in cyber-space) holding your hand
GG hi judith!! of your bali body challenge!! my auntie got married on the beach in bali and her videos looked absolutely breathtaking!! lucky you
hi to jollybear and the teen y earcub how are you getting on??
xx ei xx

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 16/07/2008 13:57

hi ladies
SH its a good (sort of) sign that your temp is dropping back down to normal. dont let your GP fob you off!! you need closer monitoring and deserve the best treatment available. good luck with the doc
bucky you do sound a little bimbo-esque i have these moments quite often and my best friend is the queen of bimbo behaviour so you are in good company
MOB im sorry you have this to deal with hun FWIW i have had an abnormal smear result the first smear i had done and 6 months later the result was clear. try not to worry too much xx {{{{{{higs}}}}}}} to you xx
hi to everyone else
xx ei xx

GorgonsGin · 16/07/2008 13:35

MOB - oh no, an abnormal smear is that last thing you need . have they explained any further to you. It sounds like they are monitoring the situation and don't see anything immediately alarming in the results if you have to go back after 6 months. GP sister says it happens a lot and not necessarily anything to worry about, they are just being extra careful.

Bucky - oh my goodness, I had nearly forgotten that tomorrow was your laproscopy. Wishing you all the luck in the world for a quick and painless procedure and that nothing is found. How are you feeling abotu it? Poor Molly Dog getting spots. I am that dogs can get acne. Does she that mean she could have PCOS too?

Jolly - how are you feeling my dear? You always write lovely posts to us and then brush over how you are doing. Has the sickness and hyperemesis stopped or at least eased a little? Do you have a jollycub shaped bump yet? Big wave and hug to you! We will be cyber aunties to jollycub too.

caitni - I am doing the Rick Gallop GI diet too and it seems to be working so far (early days though) - very easy to stick to which is good. Only week 2 of the GG's Bali Bikini Body Challenge (BBBC). I have until 27 August to get fit and slim. I have about a stone to drop, so might be able to do it in the six weeks I have.

hello to scary ei and everyone else

Bucky2008 · 16/07/2008 12:56

Obviously I know my dog is not human and has a vet not a doctor...duh. Do you know, I am being such a bimbo at the moment, I even asked DP how long it would take to sail a boat from England to Lake Geneva!!

OP posts:
Bucky2008 · 16/07/2008 12:54

MOB hugs. Sorry you are getting all the bad luck at once! I found this useful website info about abnormal results, as I was wondering why you had to wait six months before you went back. On the positive side it seems that all could go back to normal so this is good...It was really the last thing you needed at the moment though, so I am thinking of you.

I will be at the hospital tomorrow so will be off the radar, but will catch up with you all on Friday when I will be feeling sorry for myself.

SH Glad you seem to be a bit brighter today. Hopefully all will go back to normal for you soon.

Caitni How was the sea this morning? I wish I was by the sea

Off topic....Molly has acne! The doctor actually said 'ah, Molly has acne'! . She has to take antibiotics for that and her kennel cough! I though Finn was being rough with her when they play, but no, acne it is.

OP posts:
Caitni · 16/07/2008 12:04

MOB just seen your latest post - I really don't know much about smear results but am that you have yet more to face. Big >> xx.

Caitni · 16/07/2008 12:00

MOB Am glad to hear you sounding more positive and with plans. It's a great idea to get your health & fitness sorted - you'll feel better and know you're doing your best to help your baby out of the ether and into your arms! I started 2008 so well, eating & drinking wise, but have been beyond naughty recently. I think it's cos I expected to get pg sooner rather than later and am naturally a sweet toothy carb head who enjoys more than one glass of wine at a time...about you wanting to lose weight, I used to work in book publishing, so am sceptical of diets (they are mostly designed to make someone pots of cash!) but I swear by the low GI diet. Three years ago, I lost about 2.5 stone using a Rick Gallop book (and nothing else, bar walking more - no gyms etc) and have mostly kept it off. Am planning to go back on it, as have gained a bit of weight since I got married last year and want to nip it in the bud. But it's great because all the snacks mean you feel like you're eating loads!!

GG am glad the acupuncture went well. I hadn't realised the one in the forehead was to help you relax (I also had a nice splotch there on my way home). V funny picturing you in the waiting room

SH am so relieved to hear temp dropped - and hope GP goes well. Don't let them fob you off, you need advice. Will be thinking about you xx

Big hello to Ei Bucky PnM Lou and everyone else. I'm still without internet at home, so am having to fit my MNing into work hours (not good!).

I'm officially on my tww (4dpo), though this month I can't seem to summon the energy for it. I'd rather hear everyone else's symptoms instead!

GorgonsGin · 16/07/2008 11:52

MOB - please email me, if I can do anything although it is a learning curve for me at the moment . My email address is my work one, so don't put anything very personal in the first email. My secretary has full visibility of all my emails, but after the first one I'll mark anything from you private and she won't see anything. I am pretty sure she knows something is up with DH and me because we haven't been that circumspect with emailing , but she's great and won't tell a soul.

I know that all PCT's have wildly differing criteria for selection of people for IVF/ICSI, but do check it out. We are Chelsea & Westminster NHS trust, so get 2 cycles on the NHS. Children from a previous relationship don't "count" for IVF (gosh that sounds terrrible ) DH and I are very lucky that we can afford to go private, but both our GP and referral hospital strongly recommended the NHS first because tests are charged for individually when you go private and become horrendously expensive, plus they really are world experts at ICSI at my local unit. I am 33 so no spring chicken, but in some ways I want the NHS delay. I want to use the waiting time to do everything we can to get fit, healthy and have a few last goes at TTC naturally. DH's count is very low, but morphology and motility are both good, so while these things are in the lap of the gods, there is a chance we can improve numbers and there is nothign wrong with getting our bodies and brains ready for the emotional and physical rolllercoaster of IVF.

scary - you go and kick ass at the GP, girl! You've had a rough old rid eof it recently with health matters and make sure he takes you seriously. Glad your temps have dropped. Glad you liked the TSB joke . Hope to see you next Tuesday at the drinks - will be great to catch up with you again

Bucky - sorry not to get back to you yesterday on email, Have been dashing about as usual.

CD28 for me today so AF about to rear her ugly head . No cramps or other pre-menstrual symptoms yet, but I have a feeling I may have ovulated a day or two later than normal this month, so not reading anything into the lack of anything spotted during knickerwatch . I have decided not to waste money doing POAS this month until i am a whole 10 days late (very unlikely!)

Happy Wednesdays to one and all.

Madoldbird · 16/07/2008 11:46

Don't believe it - now got abnormal smear test results - got to get re-checked in 6m. I guess this may affect ttc (& potential ivf) as well - i don't know. Even if i will need treatment in 6m, i wonder if it can be if possibly pregnant? Is anything ever going to go right?

Can someone have some good news please - to cheer me up?!

JB Lovely to see you - how are things? I hope the sickness has gone, and that you are able to enjoy your pregnancy. X

JollyBear · 16/07/2008 11:33

Hello everyone,

What a sad time you've been having on here

SH I'm so sorry What a horrible thing to happen after your eptopic. I hope you had a good drink and a cry and are feeling more positive for next month.

MOB You are so lovely and always have a kind word of encouragement for others, I wish I could express myself as eloquently as you. I really, really hoped things would be OK for you . I'm glad you are feeling a bit better and more positive about things today. Those little fellows might still get there without the aid of a mobility scooter so don't give up!

GG Your DH is so sweet for making such a big effort with healthy eating and not drinking. I'm really glad he is firmly out of his cave at last. Have you managed to not to POAS?!

caitni Glad the move went well. I'm so jealous, sunny Brighton!

Big higs all round, I'll pop back when I have more time to say a proper hello to all you lovely ladies especially bucky, PnM, ei and anyone I've missed out

I love the song by the way, very catchy

Madoldbird · 16/07/2008 08:21

Morning SH cross-posts. It took me so long to write my mammoth post . That's great news - am so pleased your temp has dropped. Although it is horrible that you had a CP i am relieved that it is not another EP. Don't let the GP fob you off - you have had an EP followed by a CP - at the very least you need support and understanding, and of course monitoring. Good luck. X

Madoldbird · 16/07/2008 08:18

GG Thank you so much for your support I have your email address somewhere, from the arrangements about the last meet up, so i may contact you sometime, if that's ok. Wow - an indepth discussion about sperm - something to look forward to DH will make his deposit at home next time. (Got to be less stressful than public loos...) I can then "supervise" and make sure he gets every last drop in there! He can use a large receptacle, to make aiming easier, then transfer. (What a thing to be writing about ) Yes, it was ICSI that i was thinking of - i can't see any other possibility for us, to be honest. I am going to ring the PCT today to make enquiries about funding, but don't hold out much hope. I think the fact that i have children will be enough for them to say no. Also, at my age i don't want to be hanging around, as the success rates seem to drop dramatically in the late 30's. And to be honest, DH, at 50, wants to get a move on. We are resigned to the fact that we will have to go private (we will worry about being able to afford it afterwards) so will ask for that after the next SA. I'm glad your acupunture went well. LOL at you staring at that woman, incase it was Caitni!! We need WIMBEWAI(N)F badges

SH Thank you for reminding me of what i'd said to you, i.e. we WILL get there. I very much meant it when i said it to you, so it helps so much to have you say it back when i can't think straight ATM. You are lovely to be thinking of me when you are so worried about things yourself. Hope all goes well with the GP today. Hopefully he/she can be of help and offer support. How is your temp this morning? As EI said, it could well be the CP that is delaying the drop, but as Caitni says, do trust your instincts. My temps were very slow to drop this month (CD4, i think) although on reflection it is highly unlikely to have been a CP! Do let us know how you are today.

Caitni Glad the move went well. You are so lucky to be able to see the sea! That's quite a commute you've got there, but it sounds like it wasn't a problem yesterday. Thank you for the link to the smoothies - i have printed them out and he will be giving them a go!

Mibbes Hello to miblet from one of his/her cyber aunties

Lou Well done to your DH for making his deposit! Hope you get the results through quickly. LOL at him having "recovered"! Did you have to mop his fevered brow? I more or less did

Bucky Hope you had a lovely time with DG.How is she? She must have a sizeable bump by now!

Good morning to EI and PnM and anyone else my addled brain has forgotten.

I am feeling a little more positive today. I have decided that i really need to get my health and fitness sorted out ( i really need to lose approx 3 stone) so that i am in the best possible health to deal with the IVF etc that is now, i would think, inevitable. As i mentioned i am going to speak to the pct today, and also look at what private clinics we have around here. DH is really keen to make the most of ov, still, (which i think is today) managed yesterday morning and wants to go for it tonight. Can't knock his determination! Makes me love him more, that he is so positive about us having a baby. Talk about needing zimmers, though, i think his are going to need mobility scooters to get there

When is our Brighton meet up going to be? I know the 26th July was mentioned, but i think that it wasn't good for some people? I so want to be able to get there this time - DH is also insisting i go - he knows how much support i get from you lot.
