sorry, messed up that link - see here.

Caitni · 28/07/2008 16:42

Bucky good luck with the lovely Mr Needles tomorrow! Bet you don't feel a thing . I've had three sessions - just after period, just after ov and just before period - and have noticed benefits with the problems I was having with PMS, spotting etc. I don't have another app until 8th Sept (I'm moving from "treatment" stage to "maintenance" stage)

GG so glad to hear of start of fertile phase and imminent pouncing . Glad to hear Germany was fun! Though you poor thing, having to work such long hours. Remember to save some energy for pouncing! And no need for st jude, we're none of us lost causes but I googled it and turned up quite a [http://saints.sqpn.com/pst00686.htm list]. After years of being beyond lapsed perhaps it's time to dust off the old rosary beads

GorgonsGin · 28/07/2008 16:04

afternoon all! I'm here and have the start of EWCM, so luckily DH is around tonight for pouncing on and having my wicked way with . Despite facing ICSI (appointment on Wednesday ) old habits die hard and DH has been very good with taking his man vitamins and not drinking, so I am still hopeful of a miracle natural conception. caitni is there anyone in particular you can recommend that I should pray to for miracles after your success with holding off the rain . I heard St Jude was responsible for "lost causes" (me? ) but I was looking for someone more dynamic

Germany was brilliant. I was on a friend's hen weekend and it had a sailor girl theme . I am definitely too old and too dimpled of thigh to be prancing round beer halls dressed like a nautical Cheeky Girl . Oh and my name in RL (printed across the back of my T-shirt) is apparently Bavarian slang for "Horny", so I got the right royal p*ss taken out of me all weekend.

hello to everyone - 'tis very quiet on here today. Is there any gossip?

Have fun at Mr Needles tomorrow Bucky - I am going on Thursday to the one in Victoria, as I can't do Tuesday at Exmouth Market. You come out lovely and relaxed.

Scary - did you have fun in Bundesrepublik Deutschland too?

I am so busy at work and quite stressed with it all too, plus attendant late nights . Yuck Not what you need when you are supposed to be avoiding stress and relaxing in order to conceive your first DC afetr 19 months of trying.

Bucky2008 · 28/07/2008 15:21

Ah yes, congrats Ei. I am here Caitni wondering where everyone has got to. I am seeing Mr Needles tomorrow. How often do you have to go?

OP posts:
Caitni · 28/07/2008 14:02

and a quick PS (posted the last one rather too quickly!). Congrats on the job front Ei - hope it all goes well on Wed!

Caitni · 28/07/2008 12:54

Hello? (hello -o -o echo) - anyone here?

It's gone very quiet on here! I'm assuming that means everyone was out enjoying the amazing weather over the weekend. SH and GG hope Germany was just as sunny as old Blighty this weekend . We've now got internet at home - yay! - so shall be able to check MN in the evenings again.

Bucky I'm CD4 now so we are definitely (almost) cycle buddies!

In other news (TMI alert!) acupuncture has shortened my period into 3 days, which amazes me as I've always been a 5 day-er. I'm especially happy, as the disappearance of the pre-AF spotting and the shorter period can only be good when I've been ov'ing on CD11. Wonder if I'll ov later this month... [caitni wanders off to ponder the effects of acupuncture and also to read TCOYF, which just arrived at work, causing a momentary sweat as caitni wrestled fertility books out of amazon packaging and into handbag without colleagues clocking a look]

sunny waves to everyone!
C

Bucky2008 · 25/07/2008 20:20

Well I had a traumatic day at work so never got near a phone never mind actually using one.

Caitni we are almost cycle buddies...CD2 for me today. Totally expected here though what with the 'holiday contraception' so I am fine.

PicknMix great to have you back in the fold. Now MOB has gone AWOL .

Have a great weekend in Germany girls and higs to everyone else.

OP posts:
PicknMix · 25/07/2008 16:46

Caitni sorry to hear that period has arrived, am impressed with your PMA towards it all though. Keep meaning to invest in the TCOYF book but haven?t got round to it yet. I?m impressed that your acupuncture has taken effect so quickly (did I mention my mum did acupuncture on my back the other day to sort out my numb leg? Had to peel me off the ceiling because she managed to hit a nerve ending [poor woman was mortified, it?d never happened before] so prob wont be partaking in any fertility acupuncture just yet ). It sounds like the Exmouth Needler certainly knows his stuff!

GG your appt is coming up quickly ? it sounds like your ?swim for swimmers? campaign is going well? Hope you?re having a fab time in Germany? You too SH!

I?m sorry that things are still so tough for you at the moment MOB but let me echo everyone else in saying you are not to go anywhere!!! You would be sorely missed if you left the thread!! Also ? my Dh was terribly impressed about your Hobby spotting, he got all excited when I told him and that was the catalyst for our trip to the nature reserve

Bucky your poor belly button! And, more to the point, you have to wait until December before you get a follow up appt?!?!?! At the risk of becoming parrot like ? I too think you should go the private route. Let us know what they say if you ring them today.

Ei, have you heard about your job interview yet??

Thank you to you all for your words of encouragement ? in a funny way your ?angry? faces cheered me up too MOB (so does that make me as warped as you Bucky?!).

I?m waiting for DH to get back to me re what the Dr has said today (although when I rang him earlier he hadn?t heard from them?.grr). I?m sure if it came to it we could find the money to pay for a private test ? it just grates that we will probably need to do that. Its just one of those postcode lotteries and I don?t like it but that?s just the way it is I guess.

Am off playing tennis tonight ? I am doing my sponsored walk on Sunday (have had to drop down to just 15 miles instead of 25 due to poorly leg though) so am getting in some last minute exercise! Please all think of me on Sunday!! Am fingers crossed for rain (sorry Caitni!) as think the heat might finish me off

Not sure if I said it before but hi and welcome to Citybranch

Caitni · 25/07/2008 14:32

PnM that is quite a shocking wait for a sperm test! And to have your GP's practice handle it so inefficiently - grrr . I'd second MOB's suggestion of going private for the test if possible...

Bucky I've already told you how I am at the follow up appointment for your lap/fibroid. Let us know how you get on phoning up the hospital/clinic.

GG & SH schoenes Wochenende to you both! (I just asked my German colleague how to spell "enjoy your weekend" - what must he think I'm up to on my PC!!)

Back to CD1 for me, as AF arrived this morning bang on cue. Not feeling too bad to be honest, I think my crying jag last week got it all out of my system ! I'm glad also that my pre-AF spotting has been reduced to practically nothing so I feel like the acupuncture is helping a bit. Am now curious to know how if needles will shorten AF itself (I often spot until CD 7 or 8 and then usually ov on CD 11, so part of me thinks maybe lining's not thick enough). SH am planning to get some of those Zita vitamins you recommended! Also ordered some books off Amazon (including the fabled TCOYF ) to see if I'm actually charting properly etc. OK, that's enough rambling from me for one afternoon.

Big hello to MOB and Ei and Citybranch and everyone else. Hope everyone's enjoying the sunny weather! Am off to a BBQ tomorrow so am hoping it holds it together until Monday at the earliest . Happy weekend to one and all
xx

ScaryHairy · 25/07/2008 10:27

Sadly not; we're doing crack of dawn to Stuttgart.

GorgonsGin · 25/07/2008 10:20

scary...if you are on BA 15.25 to Munich, I'll see you in the lounge!!!

ScaryHairy · 25/07/2008 10:15

I'm going to Germany for the weekend too, GG. Maybe we'll run into each other at Heathrow!!

GorgonsGin · 25/07/2008 10:06

Bl*dy hell picknmix!! . I can't believe what they are saying to you about a sperm test . It's a sperm test FGS! It takes about two minutes to do the sample (no assistance needed from staff) and ooooh, i don't know...say, less than an hour to analyse ! I am really and astonished on your behalf at the incompetance of some people (always in the public sector, don't get me started ) losing appointments/referrals and not being able to squeeze you in for months. (((((((((higs)))))))))) to you. It all seems so bl*dy hopeless when no one will do anything to help. Thinking of you.

It also makes me realise how lucky we are with the NHS. i thought we'd have to wait a few months, but we waited less than a month for ICSI referral and only three weeks for all our tests and cycle monitoring. WE get two cycles - not just one. Sometimes it was pretty chaotic and I am sure I will have my share of rants about the NHS, but with the exception if initialt dismissal from GP, they have been nothing but brilliant with us. We are with Imperial College NHS trust, part of Chelsea & Westminster (i think). It is so apparent from all your waiting times it really is postcode lottery on reproductive healthcare. From Bucky's six month wait for a follow up on fibroids to MOB's "not eligable" for IVF where she is, to 10 week wait for a sperm test makes me so for you all. I checked IVF criteria in my area and MOB you would get it on the NHS if you lived here .

Grrrr, sorry, rant over. I was getting all het up there for a minute

I can only post quickly, as I am dashing off again this time to Germany for the weekend (I know, I know....ei is going to laugh at me, that GG off on her travels again).

Wave to scary too

Nothing to report in any case. CD9 today, so I am getting into the zone. made Dh do the deed this morning jyust in case of early ovulation . I am back on Sunday so will look in then. Have a brilliant one everone and big (((((((((higs))))))))))) to you all.

Bucky2008 · 25/07/2008 09:22

Wow, you are very angry MOB . Thanks for looking out for us and the angry faces actually cheered me up in a warped kind of Bucky way .

Hope you are OK and have had some nice yummy biscuits with you tea. I am off to make mine now...If I get time to ring the hospital/92 Harley St later I will and I will let you know what they say.

Madoldbird · 25/07/2008 07:47

PnM I am outraged on your behalf. Like i said before, it seems strange to have to make an "appt" for this - let alone having to wait this long. Is there any way you can afford to have a private SA done? I believe it is around £100 for a basic test (and from what i have read they can tend to be more accurate than NHS ones, as they have more time to analyse) You should NOT have to consider this option, but if you are faced with having to wait this long (over 2 months - absolutely crazy) then i suppose it is worth considering if at all possible. Of course, what i really hope is that you get a BFP and they can shove their tests where the sun doesn't shine. Hope you are ok - i really can understand how devestated and angry you must feel. Big higs.

Bucky Equal outrage on your behalf as well!!! Can't believe you have to wait that long for a follow up appt. It's just cruel to make people wait this long. I second SH's suggestion - that clinic looks fantastic, if it is an option for you. I guess you could also pay to see your NHS consultant privately to discuss results. Again, you shouldn't HAVE to do that. It's disgusting. Likewise i hope you get a BFP as well so tests can be shoved somewhere equally as painful.

Right, i'm going to have a cup of tea and calm down!!

ScaryHairy · 24/07/2008 22:14

Am very busy tonight but just wanted to say PnM I am shocked it takes so long to get a sperm test appointment. Can you find out if they get last minute cancellations that your DH could go for?

And as for you, Ms Bucky, I still think you should see a private specialist - like this lot to get a proper answer about what is going on.

Higs to all. Speak later.

Bucky2008 · 24/07/2008 19:27

PnM my follow up appointment is the 18th of December . So sorry you have to wait that long....I know how you feel. Its like the whole world is trying to keep our babies from arriving. At least they are keeping each other company .

Will be back properly later but had to share my angst with you - have just heard that my dh called his gp (as noone has called him re sorting out a referral for his sperm test & its been 2 wks!!) and not only has the referral not been recieved at the hospital (he ended up calling them direct) but the nxt available appt isn't until the 3rd of October.

Yep, u heard my right - the 3rd of October. I want to cry but I'm still at work.

Just to complete my shit day, they receptionist said that my dh is only pencilled in 4 the 3rd of October and if she can't get hold of the gp to confirm his referral then the appt will be put back even further.

Why, exactly do we bother?

Back later x

PicknMix · 23/07/2008 23:35

Hellooooo!

Crikey, I haven't posted for ages but I am here, just the laziest WIMBEWAI[N]F member - my computer is poorly so have been checking up on you all via my mobile and, although I can read it all, it takes aaaaages to type a message and I wrote one the other day but then my mobile decided to reset itself [grrr] and lost it all!!

Sounds like you all had a fab time last night! I did consider jumping on a train so I could join in the fun but I realised I wouldn't get there until gone 8 and besides, my Dh bargained with me to go to the nature reserve with him again (aka bribing PnM with fish & chips)

Have had a very busy few days but I promise to catch up properly tomorrow - am in the 'green light' part of my cycle so off to bed now

Xx

citybranch · 23/07/2008 23:05

I don't know where my brain was at, i didn't come online wed night and completely forgot that you mentioned the meet up!

Bucky2008 · 23/07/2008 21:46

Oh GG hope you are not still at work .

Missed my bleedin train by .005 of a second and had to wait forever for the next one . I obviously did get home in the end yesterday though. I can only wonder at when Caitni got back to Brighton!!!

OP posts:
Bucky2008 · 23/07/2008 21:43

Oh purleez....MOB don't listen to them, they are glamourous! . I however, do not wash my hair and had shoes that were stuck with PVA glue whilst other meet up attendees had SATC shoes and co-rodinated outfits that shamed me into getting my nail clippers out today
and actually filing my nails.

It was really good to meet up. Sorry for arriving at more like 18.14, than 17.34pm. Its a conspiracy...I am always late for MN meetups . SH is right my war wounds are not so bad....NOW..

Well just got back from yet another night on the sauce . I came home early tonight though before it got out of hand!

Um, I think I am about CD 27 today so AF should hopefully show in the next day or so. Then I can begin my pursuit of purity. Rick Gallop book at the ready and Mr Needles on speed dial.

PicknMix Where AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEeee you? Come back.

CityBranch You should have come out. It would have been good to meet you.

Laters poppets.

Caitni · 23/07/2008 17:27

GG hope it's not too late a night for you. And your DH is so charming about your hair! It looked lovely yesterday...My DH has decribed my hair as "like velcro" (due to permanent halo of frizz rather than any sort of usefulness for sticking things together). I do hope any children take after him on the hair front lol
xx

GorgonsGin · 23/07/2008 17:07

caitni - i am trying to get out for a swim tonight, but it is looking doubtful . It's going to be the wee small hours before I get out of here. Waiting for a call and then it's all systems go. I think the sea would be a little bracing for me too!

MOB - ha ha ha at me being glamerous, the others are thougha nd all have lovely handbags. I look permantently dishevelled. DH describes my hair (on a good day) as "straggly"

Scary have a great night out tonight - picked eggs LOL

Bucky - come back
