Morning all,

Leg is feeling much better now it has been freed, thank you!! Tis a pretty disgusting sight and will take a while before I can walk without crutches though!

Bucky I totally understand what you mean and fair play to you that you have taken a step back. It sounds like you need it. How does your DP feel about it all? Big higs to you for your weird stage.

RFN2 your poor mum - sounds like she really went through it but obviously you are a very caring wonderful family and when you get your bfp you will be able to share with her again. Let the bding commence!!

I guess your egg is waiting for your body to catch up Uni

DH went for his SA this morning. He's been told it will take 10-14 days for the results to come back to the surgery . It so blatently doesn't take 10-14 days as the man who told him this said the tests would take place in the next hour, it just takes that long for the results to make their way back to the GPs. I've got a real downer on the NHS at the moment (didn't help that I had a 3 hour wait for my fracture appt yesterday!).... Ahhh well, things will happen when they happen I guess.

xx

readyfornum2 · 03/10/2008 07:09

BUCKY I know that I havent been around on here long and that you dont "know" me but just wanted to give you ((higs)), Perhaps it might do you good to have taken a step back this month, I hope you work out what it is that you want to do next x

I feel for all of you that have been ttc for so long, I know that this is only cycle 2 for me and that I already have a DS but I know how heartbreaking ftc is because I am adopted. I am very close to my Mum and know how much heartache they went through to have children (7 years of ttc, 1 miscarriage at 10 weeks and 2 eptopics-the 2nd of which nearly killed her)
They finally gave up and adopted me and my Brother but my Mum has now developed osteoporosis and had to have a hysterectomy at 36 as her womb was rotting inside her (sorry if tmi)
They are totally in love with DS and see him as such a gift, when I was pregnant I saw the joy but also the pain in Mums eyes so I shared my pregnancy with her as much as I could and will hopefully do the same next time.

I know that I am the newbie on here but I would love to see you all get those desperately wanted BFPs x

On a lighter note it is cd5 for me and AF has finished so its time for the BDing to begin

TheUNITUBER · 02/10/2008 22:00

(((Higs))) to you Bucky. I can well understand you re-evaluating things. We all get so caught up in ttc it makes sense to do that sometimes. I hope you work out how you feel soon.

Picknmix - how's the foot? I know how vile it is getting out of plaster - all that dead skin (yuech) so I hope it is all ok.

I have still not ovulated but my body is acting like it is thinking about it. Oh well, if it just holds off for a couple of weeks then I can get on with ttc again!

07mumstheword · 02/10/2008 21:17

oh Bucky big big {{{higs}}} you are allowed to feel wierd and it is totally understandable.
I hope having time out from TTC gives you what you need/want to get your head around your future options (there are still options if you are desperate to hold that baby) I don't know what else to say except more {{{higs}}} to you and have a lovely big glass of something naughty

PnM How does it feel to have the plaster off?

Good evening to everyone else hope you are all doing well.

Bucky2008 · 02/10/2008 20:03

Hey have only scanned, but am dropping in to say hi.

In answer to the question, it is more of a 'weird' weird phase. My Bucky night out, made me start questioning everything. The ttc rollercoaster of emotions has taken its toll recently and has been affecting me in a lot of ways. I feel so detached from the possibility I may ever have a baby. After years of going from month to month living for a BFP, when I let myself totally relax and kind of give up, I felt such a sense of relief it scared me. I started to wonder if maybe I was happy as I am. I was angry that BDing was just that, BDing and wasn't about anything else anymore (sorry if tmi) and got it in my head that the only way it wouldn't be was if I only did it when I wasn't ov. At the same time though I still ache for a baby. See... weird. It hurts my heart that I may never smell that baby smell as my dc snuggles up against me or see a little mini DP smile my way. So, as I am so confused, I have kind of taken a step back this month. I know...I am a weirdo .

Anyway, sorry this is all about me. UniT sorry I have not been around to give you more higs.

And everyone else, I hope you are all doing OK and that our thread jinx will be over soon and we will see a few BFPs. I am around, but until I get my head straight I will probably be quite quiet, just dropping in now and again.

Bucky xx

hi ladies
just a quickie to say...
PnM yay for you having your plaster off!!
MOB 2 days down 19 to go is it?? im so excited for you!!!
MTW lovely to see you i cant believe how time flies you are about to have a baby im so excited
a big hello to everyone else hanging around
xx ei xx

PicknMix · 01/10/2008 21:40

Guys, I'm sorry for my silence, life has been hectic...!

Mob - day 2 on the pill! Yay on your start to your ivf journey!! I'm genuinely excited for you Without sounding mushy, I'm also excited to be going on this journey with you in a cyber buddy type way!

Uni I feel bad that I haven't been around to help out with your worries but everyone else seems to have wise words for you and it also sounds like your Dh has made a decision for you . Deffo giving enough time for your stitches to dissolve is prob a Good Thing!! Hopefully by then your egg will have put in an appearance! Also, stop worrying about your extra poundage young lady!! I bet I can out-pound you all the amount I've put on since I broke my foot (shhh - nearly a stone in 1 month but I'm in denial and will be purchasing a larger size of jeans instead of giving up the chocolate!)

It sounds like you have a manic weekend ahead of you Caitni! Good luck with your babysitting duties and ditto Uni in being able to forget about af arrival - if only [sigh]. Thank you for remembering about my plaster - it does indeed come off tomorrow (yay!!) and I can't wait! As Ei said, am milking it for all its worth tonight cos Dh will prob develop a mystery illness in the next week!

You ok Bucky? Good weird or bad weird? Hoping its the former?

Check out you and your technical talk Ei Never knew that about oestrogen (I can't even spell it!) - mayb I should reconsider my chocolate eating habits! Well done you though, very admirable determination, I'd like to echo mtw re your positive attitude, its great to see and very inspiring.

Speaking of which, or should I say whom, mtw plse don't ever think you shouldn't post, its lovely to hear from you and hear how you are - its a beautiful reminder that we WE will all get there in the end. Ps you're having a baby THIS MONTH - wow!!!

Judith are you ok at the moment? Has dh booked any accupuncture yet?!

JB how was your holiday?? My Dh hasn't had his sperm test yet but it is on friday so will see how long it takes to get the results back (given that it took 10wks for an appt I wont hold my breath!). Your jollycub is due on my birthday!! Yay for Boxing Day babies!! How is your sickness now?

How are you Mibbes? Hope you are doing ok (and Hatty and Abby* if you're lurking!)

I've got a lot of WIMBEWAIFE love tonight, are you all feeling it too??

Just to repeat myself - my plaster is coming off tomorrow!! Woohoo!!

I have also been offered a new job (woohoo again!) but it would mean going self employed which would be difficult wrt to maternity pay (boo). But given my ftc so far, I'm not so sure thats an issue anymore! I wouldn't be any better off financially, I would just have a far more interesting job! Anyone know much about being self employed? I'm in such a quandary!! What to do what to do what to do!

Caitni · 01/10/2008 21:09

UniT lol at suddenly thinking "woah I'm a week late!". I reckon that would only happen to me now if I was in a coma! I think you're wise to wait til the stitches dissolve, though who knows if that egg bides its time

TheUNITUBER · 01/10/2008 19:44

Caitni this month my DH does not want to try. And I sort of feel that waiting until my stitches have dissolved would be a good start! I thought I was going to ovulate but my egg is awol. If it takes another couple of weeks to come my stitches will be gone and all bets are off!

It's great that you'll be so busy at the weekend. Wouldn't it be fab if the whole ttc thing sliped your mind and then in a week or two you though "oooh. I'm late". How I wish I was a women to whom that sort of thing could happen...

Caitni · 01/10/2008 17:02

Afternoon everyone,

been lots of action on here - which is great!

MOB day 2 of the pill already - so exciting! Going back on the pill would make me feel like a young slip of thing again (back in the days when I thought that one accident would definitely lead to a baby!).

RFN2 glad to hear that things are settling down - hope this new cycle is your month!

Bucky hello my dear. Am trying not to worry because of your post - hope this phase is good weird and not bad weird? Sending you positive vibes nonetheless. And not long now til NYC trip - am so at that.

UniT I'd say scrap the BMI scale for your own small self (I can guarantee that you are in fact a veritable pixie next to me!!). I think the BMI scale is a Good Thing, but it's not ideal since it's one size fits all. I want to lose a bit of weight, but mainly for myself (I have managed to put on about 5 pounds in the last month!). Maybe obsessing about food will take my mind of ttc . And well done you for making an app at the clinic!! I'm very proud of you taking such a good, positive step. Though I'm still confident that you'll have a natural BFP before too long . I found the Sex Education Show utterly compelling btw - to have that on prime time! women talking honestly about the rollercoaster of ttc! Sinitta is my new favourite celeb face of ttc! - and would urge all the lovely ladies on here to check it out if they missed it (see this link). Are you going to try this month? Or just not not try (iyswim)?

O7MTW - getting so close now! I think October's a great time to have a baby. Do keep us up to date as to how you're doing - first timers like me love to hear how pregnancies are going

Same goes for Mibbes Jollybear Hatty Abbymeg - hope you're all keeping well and that you continue to pop in and visit us on this thread. I love to hear from the graduates - since that's what we'll all be one day!. December's going to be a busy month for you ladies - very exciting!

Hi to PnM (you're getting your cast off tomorrow I think - if so, then hope everything's all healed and you can dance around to your heart's content!) and Ei and anyone else I've missed off. Hope everyone's well.

9dpo for me and AF due on Saturday. We're going to be babysitting my two nieces - 1 and 3 (nearly 4) - for the whole weekend so I reckon that I'll be too busy to get too down in the dumps if AF does show up. I'm taking the older niece to ballet on Saturday morning and then there's a joint 4th birthday party for 3 of her nursery class mates in the afternoon - to be honest, that's more of a social life than we often have!! If AF does show then I'll be listening to that hypno CD every night (instead of just the three listens I managed this month ) and doing everything I can for next month.

Madoldbird · 01/10/2008 16:13

Well done Unituber. I'm sure it will help to talk through your concerns and see what help they can offer. Shame it's a bit of a wait, but i guess that on the other hand it may be a bit much if things happen too quickly at this stage. Yes - that was a bit scary last night wasn't it? I just caught bits of it, but i'm sure it has got a lot of women panicking.

TheUNITUBER · 01/10/2008 15:55

MOB I've been comfort-eating my way through ttc too. It's not good - am 6 kilos heavier than I was in Feb , and two of those have appeared since my surgery.

I have finally bitten the bullet and made a clinic appointment. It's not until the end of the month but at least it is done. They seemed pretty busy - I reckon lots of women are in a flap after watching 'The Sex Education Show' last night and so have decided to get their eggs frozen...

Madoldbird · 01/10/2008 12:06

MTW I can only second what Unituber has said - i am always so happy to see you and the other pregnant ladies. It is not upsetting, and i think it is important to remind us all that our babies can and will get here eventually! Until then, we will enjoy seeing all our gorgeous cyber nephews and nieces make their way into the world.

Unituber Yes you too can have a vest and i am sure that your belly is nothing compared to mine. I have put on a fair bit of weight over the past year or so - that is what ttc has done to me! I think it's because half the time i have thought "well, i might be pg, so there's no point in dieting" and the rest of the time i have been so fed-up and disheartned that i have consoled myself with copious amounts of food and aclohol!! For what it's worth, my BMI is also right on the upper limit of overweight (but i really do look it) and the consultant is not a bit concerned that it will affect IVF. My cycles are regular, and everything appears to be functioning well. So i wouldn't worry about it from that point of view.

Hope the rest of you are ok... are you all busy working

07mumstheword · 30/09/2008 21:26

Thank you Unituber I hold you all so dear on this thread so I keep up to date and wait for those so longed for BFP's for you all and it's so nice to keep in touch with you lovely ladies.

TheUNITUBER · 30/09/2008 20:55

MTW it is always lovely to see you, so don't worry about posting whenever you want. On my bitter and twisted sliding scale of who deserves to be pregnant (and therefore who I can be completely unequivocally happy for), people who have been on this thread come top of the list.

The same goes for you Jollybear and the lovely Mibbles. I 'saw' Abbymeg about 4 or 5 weeks ago when she popped into the May 09 ante-natal thread to say hello, but haven't seen her since. Maybe she's just off knitting frantically or something...

MOB I want a vest too! Or at least I will do once I have lost my giant fat belly. I have just realised I am at the top of the overweight BMI category (i.e. I am nearly obese!) although when I was my "ideal" weight I was a size 6 so I think something's a bit off. And I hope that those of you who've seen me do not think "she was the fat one". But anyway I am bothered that if we go for IVF they are just going to tell me I am too lardy so I bought the GI diet book today. It looks a bit complicated to me, but I guess basically I have to give up the chocolate trifles, biscuits and baguettes and replace them with chickpeas (bleaugh).

Bucky my love I hope that the weirdness is ok.

Higs to everyone.

ps - contrary to what MOB has suggested, I was not planning to jump any farm yard animals. That would probably not help me conceive...

07mumstheword · 30/09/2008 18:12

MOB I check in on you lot all the time and I'm so pleased you are finally starting your IVF I have my fingers crossed that it will be first time lucky for you.

Ei I have watched your attitude change just lately and have to say good on you for being so positive. I have a friend who had the same condition as you which was detected after 3 miscarriges and she took very small doses of asprin in her pregnancies (guided by doctors) and she has two DC now. Diagnosis means you know what to do so very best of luck for getting a BFP soon.

Hello to Bucky Judith Unituber PnM Catni Hope you are ok.

I'm due 19th October (I'm actually having a baby next month ) I had a growth scan last Thurs and all is ok although estimated weight at 7lb 11oz with 3 weeks to go I will pop in and let you know what I have and names and everything.

I don't post too often as don't want to upset any of you (I know I'm one of the suscesses of this thread but I don't want to rub it in if you know what I mean? Hormones ) I too get cross with people trying to conceive a certain "sex" or in a certain month by the time I conceived and kept hold of this one I was just bloody grateful.

Madoldbird · 30/09/2008 15:17

Hello Mibbes & JB - lovely to see you both. Hope you are well and enjoying your pregnancies. Thank you both for the reminders on the dates. Not far off for any of you then!!

Mibbes No - i don't think we have seen abbymeg around for a few weeks. Hope she's ok.

JB Hope all the awful sickness has well and truly passed now & that you had a lovely holiday. Based on your suggestion, i was just thinking that JG and i could have thermal vests with WIMBEWAI(N)F embroidered on them Classy, no?

JollyBear · 30/09/2008 13:18

Hello everyone,

I've just been trying to catch up after my holiday, sorry for not saying hello to everyone individually...

MOB Wowsers! How very exciting to have started IVF. I'm so pleased for you. you're bound to feel emotional about the whole thing but I'm glad you are feeling so much brighter today. I'll have my fingers crossed.

JG I would have thought that IVF clinics close in December because people are rushed off their feet with the stress of Christmas and no one would want to go in for procedures over the festive period rather than any suggestion that the cold weather influences the outcome. I second whoever (sorry I've forgot ) that said that Zita West can make sweeping statements with no evidence! I'm sure keeping the tummy warm wouldn't do any harm, a thermal vest perhaps . You and MOB need to get yourselves to a granny underwear shop!

ei Well done on the weight loss! Fingers crossed that getting technical will hurry along a sticky BFP.

PnM LOL at the idea of you whizzing round Jersey zoo in a mobility buggy! Glad to hear that the cast will be off soon. Any news on when your DPs SA will be back?

uni > it must be really frustrating for you, but if you haven't been given any offical advice to wait and you feel ready maybe you should give it a go? How does your DH feel?

MOB I think MTW must be due fairly soon. After that, sorry if I'm missing anyone out, it is mibbes, early December followed by hatty and abby mid-December and me bringing up the rear on the 26th December. We'll have to see if we stay in that order!

Big hugs and hellos to everyone!

mibbes · 30/09/2008 12:52

MOB hurray for a new chapter in your TTC journey - I'll be watching closely to see how you get on - best of luck

Bucky hope you are ok missus xx

Ok roll call of the preggo ladies - I'm 6th Dec. Hatty, Jollybear and Abbymeg are all on the Dec thread too and due later that month, don't have exact dates to hand. Actually talking of Abbymeg I haven't heard from her on the AN thread for ages, anyone 'seen' her around here ?

Madoldbird · 30/09/2008 12:19

Thanks Bucky. Hope you are ok, and that it is a "good" weird phase, and not a "bad" one, IYSWIM?

Caitni Am getting excited for you, now you are 7DPO already. Well done on the not drinking, and i LOVE the double bluff of your DH not drinking, so he could drive you - excellent!

Unituber Will promise to fill you in on all gory details! There aren't any yet, obviously, I just started taking the pill this morning, which feels so weird. It's good to know we've started though. I wish i had the magic answer to your quandry - but unfortunately i don't. It must be very frustrating for you not getting a definite answer anywhere. I guess, though, if no-one has said that you MUSTN'T try again, then it can't be that bad, surely? I chuckled at the idea of a "sleep-shag" although i chuckled even louder when i realised i'd mis-read it first - i won't go into to details, but let's just say it involved fields.... Someone give me a slap!

Seriously though (and i am not making light of your situation) i honestly believe that your body will let you know whether you are ready - and you do seem to be. Maybe you have to think what would be worse for you - a missed opportunity this month, or the risk of the disappointment of a BFN / CP? You seem to be indicating that the former would be worse. You said that your remaining tube appears fine, thus meaning that the risk of another EP is now very low (infact shouldn't it be less than average as you only have one tube, and the "dodgy" one has gone??) I have rambled on, and it probably hasn't helped, but ultimately i would say go with your gut instinct.

RFN2 I'm glad you now know where you are. here's hoping for a more "normal" cycle for you. Have you thought about doing temping or opks to try and confirm when you are oving?

Hi to everyone else - especially all our pregnant ladies. I think we need a bit of a roll call to establish the order in which you are all due. (Although babies will come when they are ready) It's 07MTW due first isn't it? And DG if you ever have time to lurk - hope you are all well and enjoying family life!

And can i just say AAARRRGGGGGHHHHH!!! We have now officially started our IVF cycle Can you tell i'm excited

Bucky2008 · 30/09/2008 10:59

Just dropping in quickly to say good luck and baby dust to MOB

I am going through a weird phase at the moment, but am checking in on you all regularly.

OP posts:
TheUNITUBER · 29/09/2008 20:53

MOB I am sooooo excited that you're getting your IVF soon. But listen, you have to tell us all the gory details so that those of us who are or might go down that route have an idea of what's coming!

Ei I am really impressed with your weightloss. I am at the top end of what is healthy for someone my height and should really lose some weight. The problem is that recent events have led very much to comfort eating!

Where's that big long post Judith? Are you ok?

Caitni good for you sticking to the tonic water. I have my fingers crossed for you this month!

Readyfornum2 hopefully now your period has arrived things will start to even out a little. You can still hang about with us even if you are not actively ttc. I seem to spend half of my time on this thread moaning about one wait to re-start ttc or another...

Which is what I am going to do now! Seriously it is driving me mad! I have oodles of EWCM, the pee stick hasn;t given me a smiley face but so what and I feel like one of my ancient leathery eggs is going to waste. I think I am sort of meant to not ttc just yet, but what if I were to accidentally sleep-shag my DH? Do you think that would count? Some of the things I have read suggest waiting until I feel ready to start again, so I suppose I ought to at least wait until my tummy scabs have fallen off. BUT I DONT FECKING WANT TO.

readyfornum2 · 29/09/2008 16:21

mob Glad to here that you are starting your IVF cycle- wont be long till you get that BFP now
ei Well done on the weightloss so far, just think when you get that all important BFP you will be a very yummy mummy

catni Hope this is your month, and fair play for the health kick

Hello to everyone else too x

Well AF has finally turned up 8 days late!! I am so relieved to see her to be honest and I am hoping that things will get back to normal now so that we can get on with this madd ttc business!!

Caitni · 29/09/2008 14:31

Hi ladies,

sorry for not being around for a bit - we had a hectic weekend.

MOB oh lordy - I am so excited to read that you're officially starting your IVF cycle!!! Hearing about your excitement has really lifted my day!! Having said that, I am also so glad that you had a good cry and gave yourself (and your DH) some space to acknowledge this massive step. It's going to be a hugely emotional time. But I echo Ei - I'm a massive fan of IVF and you'll be getting your longed for BFP before you know it!!

Ei sorry to hear your're rushed off your feet but am glad to hear you sounding so positive. I am at your weight loss - I really need to lose weight and am just ignoring it at the moment . Hearing about it storing oestregen may give me the shove I need though, as I didn't know that...

RFN2 I hope you're feeling better. Please do stick around if you'd like to as the ladies on here are a lovely bunch.

JG hope you've managed to get through the bumf from the hospital. Interesting that they recommend accupuncture for Mr JG as well. And lots of warming food and keeping the heating on tropical sounds like a proper plan for maximising New Year success

UniT I saw your other thread - I really feel for you, with all this conflicting advice about when to ttc. All I know is that after my experience last month with the CP (god, I hate that expression but hate early MC even more!), I wanted to redouble my efforts to get a sticky bean. The biological urge is just so strong...

Hi to PnM Bucky 07MTW (how are you doing? Hope you're pampering yourself in these last few weeks!) and everyone else I may have missed.

I'm now 7 dpo and officially entering the mad part of the tww, where every twinge is loaded with potential significance and I'm regularly staring at my FF chart as though it's an oracle to the future! I can't help but get my hopes up - we really did BD at the best times we could - but am trying hard to stay sensible. Typcially, after all my nerves about not drinking on Sat night, it was actually totally fine. I had two tonics and people honestly thought I was necking the G&Ts at a great rate (tipsy friends are easy to fool ). DH, bless him, decided he should drive us up so that he had the excuse of not drinking, with his sparkling waters craftily deflecting attention from my sobriety...must say I'm liking this health kick. Unfortunately, I'm eating to beat the band to make up for the lack of caffeine and alchol so I've only lost about 2 pounds!

Madoldbird · 29/09/2008 12:54

Hi everyone

RFN2 Any sign of your period or a BFP? I'm sorry to hear you sounding down and frustrated. You have done so well in losing all that weight, and it's bound to be better for you long term. I do hope you decide to continue to hang around with us - we are all finding ttc difficult in one way or another, so don't feel you have to go. You don't even have to talk about anything ttc-related. All the best to you whatever you decide. XX

Unituber Just to continue with the "threads we hate..." the one i saw recently which i had to force myself not to put a rude post on was the "what is the best month to have a baby" one - obviously for people who are so fertile they can plan it exactly I wanted to post that the best month would be the 9th one after you conceive

JG Have you waded through the pack from the hospital yet? Has DH booked his acupuncture More importantly - have you actually been at home two weekends in a row

EI lovely to see you sounding like your normal bouncy self again . You are doing so well with your weightloss - are you following any type of plan or just cutting back? Good luck with the OPKs etc. I can't wait for you to get a BFP again so you can get started on the treatment! And i guess this may be a REALLY good excuse for testing as early as possible - after all, i guess the sooner you know the better?

Hope everyone else is well and had good weekends.

Great excitement here - i am CD1! I have never been so pleased to see my period arrive (well aside from one time when i was rather young and rather foolish ) I start on the pill tomorrow, for just over 2 weeks. i can't believe that we are officially beginning our IVF cycle. I had a complete emotional meltdown last night, as i just felt so overwhelmed about it all (fuelled probably by the large amount of wine consumed to make up for the fact that i am going to try and drink as little as possible unitl the end of the whole cycle) I feel much calmer and positive today, though, so i'm sure a good cry did me good. I think in a bizarre way i needed to "grieve" for the fact that we will never conceive naturally. From now on, though, we move on from that and IVF here we come
