okay, so here i am, after my missed m/c and ERPC. this was my second missed m/c but we had a gorgeous dd in between.
so theres much conflicting advice about how long/soon is okay to ttc again, personally i feel after many many conversations with Dr/midwife, that one cycle later is good, just for dating purposes. i do feel ready emotionally, not so awful as last time; mentally.
however, dh and i are keen... and i just wondered if anyone had got pg straight afterwards? or after just one cycle? last time it took 3 cycles to get pg, with dd. we arent actively ttc but we arent exactly doing much to stop it.. and of course now i worry that if i do get pg this time, so soon....something will go wrong. so i need reassurance, and success stories please ladies!

Someone please help !
Tested positive end of March was very shocked but was no surprise because I was not using contraception. I actually thought being 40 I could not conceive anymore I know laughable ...
I had 4 early scans and not one person could tell me how far gone I was anyway turns out I was 11 weeks and had a missed misscarage ..was devasted but out of my hands and believe it happens for a reason .
I had to have d&c after waiting a week and still no bleeding or pain I wanted it to be over ...
It’s been nearly 2 weeks and my sexual appetite is unbelievable I had sex quite a lot I know I’m being dangerous and stupid but is anyone had a survived pregnancy this soon I’m driving myself mad with worry ...!??

Hi, there seem to be lots of reassuring stories here but I'll add mine anyway - I had 3 miscarriages before I had my ds in Feb 1999, then I started trying for another Dec 1999, got pregnant straight away and miscarried again Feb 16 2000, only to conceive again 14 March 2000 (don't ask how I can be that precise ). My dd was born happy and healthy Jan 2001, so good luck, I hope everything works out for you.

HI Dramaqueen72,

i just mentioned this on another thread....i had an ERPC and when my periods hadn't returned by 10 weeks after I was sent for a scan. The hospital were expecting to find that they had missed the baby in the ERPC and I would have to have another one. Instead they found I was nearly 8 weeks pregnant.

mummyhill · 21/02/2005 08:41

I suffered a mc in september somewhere between 6 and 9 weeks (How accurate were my health professionals?) I waited on cycle as it had made me more determined to try again. We found out on 28th December that our efforts were not in vain. Have now reached 12 weeks and am over the moon. Good luck. Go for it when you feel ready just try and leave it till after you have had a visit from AF so you can get your dates.

logic · 02/02/2005 15:16

Haven't read all the posts, dramaqueen, but I had an early m/c, then waited until I had a normal period which was 6 weeks later. 2 weeks after that I must have conceived! We now have a lovely ds so I wouldn't worry about waiting for months afterwards!

dramaqueen72 · 02/02/2005 15:07

thankyou for these. made my day

Had a missed miscarriage (12 weeks) had a d and c mid Jan, was pregnant again in March and had the baby early Jan the following year.

Jezebel · 01/02/2005 21:01

I had an mc in May 2002 and got pregnant again same month with no period in between. DD born 9 months later (Feb 2003). Had not been intending to try that month but a lovely GP said go for it.

blueteddy · 01/02/2005 20:53

I had a miscarraige after becoming pregnant while using persona as conyraception.
I suffered the miscarraige in the August & immediatly went on the mini pill, to prevent another pregnancy. (I was months away from my wedding day & wanted to fit in my dress!)
Anyway, in the December I took my pill 5 hours late one day & weeks later discovered I was once again pregnant!
Although nervous, the pregnancy went well & my ds1 was born 9 months later!
I was told, that I was probably more fertile than ever after the D&C, as they give you such a clear out.

TTC 3.5 years & had an ectopic.Had an op to remove it.7wks later was pregnant again with my lovely dd.It was nerve wracking being pg again so soon, especially as I had major bleeds with dd & was convinced I'd lose her,but she arrived fit & healthy.

Good luck to you,it is horrible to lose a baby.

yingers74 · 01/02/2005 20:21

yoyo, nice to hear there are some supportive gps out there. I sometimes think doctors haven't a clue about bedside manner!

berolina · 01/02/2005 14:21

There are plenty of success stories on here, but I'll just add mine: Early m/c at beginning of July 04, +ve preg test 23/9/04, 23wks now. 2 periods in between.
Good luck

melsy · 01/02/2005 10:59

pg end Oct 02, m/c November 2002 at 6 weeks, pg again by New years eve 2002,well actually conceived boxing day as we were both really really ill for days after that and didnt do it for some weeks !! Had dd Sept 2003. cant remember cycles at that time, looking at the weeks not even sure we waited, must have TTC straight after nxt bleed after m/c?? Not sure now.

iota · 01/02/2005 10:53

actually I was 39 when I conceived and 40 when I porduced my healthy baby boy

iota · 01/02/2005 10:51

I had a missed m/c and a D&C, had first period a couple of months later and conceived right after that.

And I was 40 at the time and had been TTC for over a year before the m/c

good luck, go for it

dramaqueen72 · 01/02/2005 10:48

yes i like reading the good news. so many pessimists out there (my gp being one) i needed some positivity! i have been keeping my opks and charts ect in the drawer and not looking at those for a month..but am not using any precautions so you never know. time i had a happy ending i think.
bella -of course this thread is me! who else is sat wondering about fertility gone 9 pm at night? ME!!!

it took two years for me to get pregnant then i had an ectopic, then six weeks later i was pregnant with twins, then had a MC then a few months later got pregnant with DS.

Beatie · 01/02/2005 10:06

I had a miscarriage, waited two cycles and got pregnant again first time trying. Had another miscarriage and then took 7 cycles to get pregnant again. After the second miscarriage I only waited one cycle to try again. When you really want a baby it is so hard to use contraceptives to stop getting pregnant. It seems ludicrous.

When I had my second miscarriage I was hospitalised and given some literature about m/c. It was pretty up to date and it said there was no medical reason to wait to ttc again. Good luck!

Tissy · 01/02/2005 10:00

I miscarried at about 4 weeks- just like an extra-heavy period, really, and got pregnant with dd almost immediately! I hadn't had time to make a drs appointment after the miscarriage (and I was sure it was over, so didn't see the point), and when I told him I was pregnant then about the miscarriage, he was horrified! I definitely got the impression that he thought it was irresponsible to get pregnant straight away, but as it happened, apart from dreadful sickness, for 5 months, and heartburn for the remaining 4 months, and a fibroid that meant I had to have a section, I was fine

yoyo · 01/02/2005 09:53

I miscarried at 8 weeks and got pregnant the next month. Wonderfully supportive GP who told me to trust my own feelings. Most advise waiting for a period but my GP said this was only to date any subsequent pregnancy.

Good luck.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/02/2005 09:33

I don't think folic acid makes you more fertile. But it does prevent some severe abnormalities, that would possibly then miscarry, if you see what I mean.

I'm another one whose had miscarriages and pregnancies pretty close together. One 10-week miscarriage October 2000, pregnant again in December 2000, DS1. One 11-week miscarriage September 2003, pregnant again in December, DS2. Their birthdays are two days (and three years) apart!

Sallie · 01/02/2005 09:04

M/c in early September and conceived mid December. Currently about 8 weeks pg. Fingers crossed! Good luck everyone

Bella23 · 01/02/2005 08:50

DQ - so glad you are as mad as me.
Well done for this thread. I switched on this morning and thought "wow that is exactly what I want to hear" and then realised it was you who started the thread - who else eh? Well done

Newbarnsleygirl · 01/02/2005 06:08

Miscarried new years eve 2002, found out I was pregnant the following month.

dramaqueen72 · 31/01/2005 23:24

tigi, absolutely that helps. so glad you got ds! so if i DID catch super early, then they would just give me a scan and sort dates out from there?
minnie; i dont believe it makes you more fertile, and someone please tell me if i'm wrong there- but i know its a GOOD thing to be taking during ttc. as its essential for forming parts of the baby and placenta and such like. HTH!
meid, sorry its happened to you too. we have a 'ttc after m/c but nervous' thread going if you fancy joining similar story people? its definately going to be third time lucky for you.
we will be the next lot of happy endings.
