Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

I also love Kendra- it is an English name with a lovely meaning and i don't know any- but he hates them all- i keep thinking of new ones hoping theres one hell like!

crunchynutter · 07/07/2008 19:54

i'm also very fond of George or Bob for a boy at which point he didnt talk to me for the rest of the day! I really think they're cute though- and not 'weird' but not common either which is what i wanted!

crunchynutter · 07/07/2008 19:53

Oh I feel even worse now!! We were discussing name before we officially agreed to even try for one and we still can't agree! Anything he likes i don't and anything i like he hates were going to just have 'baby' til its old enough to choose i think!

I love lilly for a girl (or lottie, or Sinead) and Oscar or Olliver for a boy. He hates everything!

DawnAS · 07/07/2008 19:40

Crunchy, we've so done the name thing.

So come on, what are yours?!! We've chosen Marissa Ellen (Ellen's a family name) for a girl and Ryan Anthony (Anthony's a family name - getting the gist?!) for a boy!!

Very wise Crunchy and just bear in mind that you can only use the tests once - shoes will last forever!!

I've eaten loads of rubbish today - don't know what's wrong with me!!

Roll on Wednesday night - I shall think baby thoughts and hope that my Psychic lady hones (don't know if that's the right spelling..) in on them!!

Do you ladies think about baby names like all the time? i'v also started looking very closely at children trying to work out what ours would look like- thats just wrong isn't it? why don't the men seem to care this much eh? I bet thery're not trying to work out cycles and birth plans lol

crunchynutter · 07/07/2008 19:36

im going to save up the money whenever i get an urge and buy some shoes

DawnAS · 07/07/2008 19:33

Oh ladies, what are we like!!

I've spent most of the day thinking that I'm experiencing implantation pains, to just realise that it's OV time!! I can't believe I've been BDing for the last couple of weeks - what a waste of sperm!! It's not like we do it out of enjoyment!!

Just shows how slow the time's going - I think that's what confused me!!

Flirty and Tartan, I've decided that OPKs are the spawn of satan - Crunchy don't buy them and save your sanity!!

Lol dawn you crack me! If you do get any weird messages including cereal though you know who to tell! Weekend was lovely thanks... got my important work finished in time and my darling hubby took me shopping and for a nice meal- i felt very spoilt and special :-D

Flirty i've been playing with the idea of buying some myself to be honest with you- i think it's curiosity more than anything but like you said, it sort of makes it more official!

tartan I'm starting to think the stork visits people who don't want him to first! Ive just found out a girl i went to school with is pregnant- not planned or anything! and here we are stressing about it all! My best friend has 3 little ones (all also unplanned!) i'm starting to think we should all get drunk and 'pretend' it's an accident- Do you think that would fool the powers that be?? My gosh- why did we waste all those yesrs on contraceptives when it takes this long anyway! (week 4 here i come lol, really, its only been 3weeks and it feels like forever!)

TartanShamrock · 07/07/2008 19:12

hey flirty, reading your 1st post was like listening to myself - been concentrating on not getting PG for so long and now that i want to it's torture. and trying to seem so laid back and reassurimg my DH when inside i have all possible scenarios going mental at me.

on the plus side, i feel healthier not being on the pill, fell empowered and like i've reclaimed my body after such a long time.

Baby dust for everyone!

DawnAS · 07/07/2008 16:21

Ladies,

I will concentrate really hard on Crunchy Nuts and Flirty Thirties when I'm there on Wednesday. She'll say "I can see you getting pregnant in August", then you two will and I won't and it'll be because I was concentrating too hard on you guys - ha ha!!

Once she's waffled on for a bit and given me my reading I'll say "scuse me love, can I ask for me mates too?!" in a Cockney accent obviously, because that's how I was just saying it in my head . Not quite sure why though since I live in Devon!!!

I'm have a really nutty/mad day today!!

FlirtyThirty · 07/07/2008 16:16

crunchynutter - i am as mad as you! Today I used an OPK. I knew I wasn't OVing but somehow felt it a rite of pasage now that DH and I have had the big chat and are 'officially' TTC! Stupid girl. I've had the tests in the back of my drawer for months waiting for this day. Don't knwo what I was expecting when I tested. I knew nothing would happen...and indeed it didn't. But I didn't feel bad, just like something has started. My own curious way of marking the start of the journey. Bonkers really.

Dawn - can the psychic do a remote reading for us all....?!?

Flirty x

DawnAS · 07/07/2008 16:14

Hey crunchy how was your weekend?

I do wish you'd stop mentioning that "parmesan" moment. My cat and dog think I've got nuts 'cos I keep laughing really loud!!!

I think we should devise a new name (other than madness) for those of us who're feeling pregnancy symptoms, even though we know we're not. How about "Conceptionitis"? Has a certain ring don't you think?!

I've just convinced myself to eat an oatcake with peanut butter - thinking that "ooh, I just thought of it so it must be a craving" - OMG who stole my mind and left this mushy one behind?!!

Actually tasted quite good...

Hey all! just checkin in!
Dawn you have to let me know how it goes with the phychic, my sister is a big believer of that sort of stuff and has had a few different experiences- i think i'm a bit scared to go lol.

Flirty welcome- you do sound like you have found the right thread! right now we are all very excited but also driving ourselves mad with worry (you have probably read about my parmesan cheese incident!)

I have been given the final numbers for my sister in laws baby shower party that i'm hosting so have to finalise all that soon- it's all very exciting and i'm really happy for her (2nd 'accident' though- she should give us some tips!) but it is making me more and more broody to be honest! They best throw me the best shower ever! haha :-D

FlirtyThirty · 07/07/2008 15:29

Hi ladies...I'm new to this.
In fact this is my first official day of TTC!
I'm 31, married, DH is 41 and I am desperate to be PG! Very excited and simultaneously very scared at the prospect of infertility, miscarriage, chemical pregnancy and all those other dreadful things!

I'm on day 10 of a 25/26 day cycle and have been off the pill for a year now so should be free from conctaceptive chemicals!

Anyway...nice to meet you alla dn good luck. Bring on the BFBs!!!

DawnAS · 06/07/2008 20:51

Hey TS, you do hear that holidays definitely help!!

I'm actually going to see some Psychic lady on Wednesday evening, not sure whether I'm really a believer or not but she's supposed to be quite good... Wonder if she'll have anything to tell me about babies...

At least the weird pains have stopped now which is good. Going to bed soon - DH had the night off last night so I hope he's got some energy tonight - ha ha!!

Hi Dawn AS, nice to hear from you. Amen on the impatience thing - that's me 110! we're off on holiday on wed for 2 weeks so hopefully some foreign BDing will help ;)

DawnAS · 06/07/2008 18:06

Hey tartanshamrock, welcome!!

Well, I've had 3 regular periods so far after coming off the pill that I was on for 8 years. Although I was on others before that so have pretty much been on the pill for around 16 years altogether - a long time!!

So, like you, we're BDing every other day, but I have to confess that the symptom spotting is driving me mad. I think I've convinced myself every day for the last 4 days that I'm PG, even though I don't think I've reached my OV date yet!! My cycle is about 35 days at the moment and I'm currently at CD18 which is supposed to be about right for me to be OVing. I've been getting some period type pains which apparently are a sign of OVing, but also early signs of pregnancy. If I've got my cycle wrong, then last weekend I would have been OVing, but who knows?!

I don't really know too much about cycles, but a site that I've been on to work out my OV date goes to a maximum of 48 days for a cycle. Amazing isn't it, if we weren't trying for babies we'd be loving it that we only have periods every 35 days or in your case every 2 months - it only becomes a pain when we want babies - !!

This is our first month of trying and people keep saying to me "it can take a long time you know"... But I want it NOW!! . Patience is not my strong point... .

Hey crunchynutter how are you today?

TartanShamrock · 06/07/2008 17:07

yeah definitely, i found talking to people i know put me under more pressure because they knew we were ttc and so expecting an announcement quite soon i suppose. which hasn't materialised....i'm trying to keep optimistic and blasee about it but it seems that everyone else on the planet is pregant but me at the moment

crunchynutter · 06/07/2008 14:55

I know it's great to know your not alone- it can be difficult to discuss with people you know too can't it? I feel like i'm in for a long wait though...

TartanShamrock · 06/07/2008 14:03

thanks crunchy nutter, fingers and toes crossed! keep me posted on how you're going. i love this site, brilliant to have people in similar situations for moral support xxx

crunchynutter · 06/07/2008 12:36

Hi TartanShamrock- sorry i can't help personally- i'm kinda behind you at the mo! I'm awaiting my first period to return so similar to yourself i have no idea what my 'cycles'are! I agree with trying to make it all as natural as possible so although I can't give any answers i'm here for any moral support!

Good luck with everything and welcome to our thread! xx

TartanShamrock · 06/07/2008 01:27

hi everyone, glad i found this thread - any words of wisdom welcome

i was on microgynon for ~ 10 years, and finally came off it last november so hubby and i could make a start on ttc #1. i didn't get my 1st period until march and then the second came along in may - closer toegether but it was 60 days between those 2 periods. so i have no idea what my cycle length is but assuming it's all over the place seems that the last one was 60 days.
does anyone know if 60 days is even feasible for a fertile cycle? some other info i've read suggests i may not be ovulating - all quite confusing

i never get pmt or period cramps or anything (or else just very unaware of my body!) so finding it difficult to work out if i'm feeling ok or not or if there are any early pregnancy symptoms. don't want to build it up too much either as i think the disappointment every month would get very wearing. i started off doing HPT every week, being hopeful that the BDing would work quite quickly. not doing ovulation tests, temp monitoring or anything else as don't want to make it too military style - general tactic at the mo is BD every other day. plus difficult to do ovulation test when i have a ridiculously long cycle at the mo

would love to hear from you and looking forward to posting more in the future!

happy baby making everyone xxx

crunchynutter · 05/07/2008 21:49

you too! Remember- POSITIVE THOUGHTS lol xx

DawnAS · 05/07/2008 21:47

Well, I always find Sundays easier to work on than Saturdays. Saturday almost feels like the "have to have a break" day!!

Anyway, I'm having an early night tonight - without DH!! Feeling really knackered (almost fell asleep in the bath earlier... ), so will catch up if you're on line tomorrow.

Nite nite, sweet baby dreams hun!!
