Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

B,

Just to reiterate, I meant pull up a webpage for your DH by the way - you already know the benefits!!

Hey B,

I think maybe you need to pull up a webpage on the benefits of Folic Acid. You could live on Tomatoes all day but still not get enough (probably) of what you need. It really is a massive benefit to the baby and needs to be taken particularly in the first 12 weeks to ensure that the baby develops properly!!

I have to say that my DH is being less than sympathetic aswell. I'm really exhausted at the moment (hoping I'm PG...) and he keeps saying things like, "Is this what the next 9 months are going to be like, you moaning all the time!". I spoke to my friend last night and she laughed saying that her DH was exactly the same. They just don't see anything (yet) from an external point of view and they just don't understand the massive changes that are going on inside us!! Bloody men!!

So all, I have no bloody idea what you're talking about in relation to the prams. I've just seen one in Argos that I like - . And what's this height thing?! I'm 5ft 8 and wish I was shorter, what's height got to do with a pram?!!

I like the idea of the stokke (just looked at it) but it looks a little futuristic I think!

Bonifacio · 22/07/2008 03:34

BSL & Flirty what do you mean the height thing?? I'm short too, do I need this special pram!!

Last night I had a G&T while arguing discussing with DP about folic acid. He thinkgs I should just take nothing as he really hates the idea of putting chemicals in my body and thinks if I need extra I should eat foods with more in it. Is that realistic at all?

eth I am sure that a glass of champers will get you in the mood for plenty of bd'in....and that can;t be a bad thing!!

I hate that I have to wait for evrybody to get up!!

eth37 · 21/07/2008 21:19

crunchy i am totally there on the wine thing - I kind of think, well I (hopefully!!!!) will have a fair few months off, so I should enjoy it while I can... And then on the other hand... Anyway... We are back from our picnic.. And now I am feeling scared about the whole thing.. How can it be that the thing you think you want the most, can also be bloody terrifying??!!!

crunchynutter · 21/07/2008 19:47

lol i am with you all- i have just finished off a pizza and am going to have to finish my bottle (or two...maybe three ) of red before i get pg so im trying to fit it all in! not helping the diet much though hmm T- shirts are a fab idea- we should all post pictures of them in various places around the world hehe (like barnaby bear!)

Cotgratulations on the anniversary Eth i love being married, i think its the best thing i ever did and really look forward to anniversarys i hope you have a fantastic day/ evening!

eth37 · 21/07/2008 17:29

Hello again, and thank you all for being so welcoming - it's so nice to be able to talk about these things openly - I'm not sure my work colleagues would appreciate all the 'gory' details you can discuss on here!!
Summerbird and BSL - I am also indulging in lots of unhealthy things today as it is our wedding anniversary and I have just made up a naughty picnic including champagne - I think I only ovulated today (or maybe tomorrow?) so it can't hurt, can it?! Then from tomorrow, I will be good, honest!

bluestarlavender · 21/07/2008 17:07

oh and I should say he is almost 3!!

Summerbird - I agree with you! Once my AF comes, I'm spending a few days doing all the things I shouldn't, like pate and shellfish eating and have a few sneeky glasses of vino!! There have to upsides to AF time!!

bluestarlavender · 21/07/2008 17:01

Flirty - I just love the height thing!! I'm only little and bought myself a 4x4 just because I like being high up!! I would love to get an Xplory, but I'm trying to be practical too! the Micralite is a great buggy post-six months! Our friends moved their little one into it at about 5.5months and he's lived in it ever since!

FlirtyThirty · 21/07/2008 16:48

BSL - I want the Stokke Xplory too!!
I love the height idea.

summerbird · 21/07/2008 16:47

PMSL at Flirty and Dawn - BD Fest 2008!!! sounds cool to me - can the logo have hippy flowers and sunshine on it? - we could do with a bit of sun.

flirty sorry about the BFN, I reckon to while away the boredom and frustration we should do all the things we cant do when we all get PG. Today i had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich. This weekend i was on the vino as my friends visited from London. So come on ladies, have a runny egg sandwich, with an espresso and a shot of brandy! What else can we do for now?

bluestarlavender · 21/07/2008 16:43

B- cool! I like both the Quinny and Buggaboo. I really wanted a Stokke Xplory, but they're really expensive to use for 6-12 months only. So I think we'll go for a Micralite with the carry cot attachment. Our friends have a Micralite and we pushed around the zoo on Saturday, it's great.

And I'm definietly up for the t-shirt!!! Now fingers crossed it happens quickly for all of us!!

Bonifacio · 21/07/2008 15:05

Flirty I would be pleased if I had to miss the wedding, traipsing all the way back to UK while 7/8 months pg would not be my idea of fun I am sure (obviously thats dependant upon my conceiving within the next few months!)

Crunchy My DP loves sexy undies!! If only he got turned on by shoes, then I wouldn't have to make excuses for buying more of them!

BSL Quinny Buzz, or maybe if I can convince DP a Bugaboo. I think I prefer the quinny though, its so easy to push and manouvre!

Dawn I think the logo is great, but on the bottom you need to add touch the bump and I will hurt you I hate the idea of people touching me randomly Also yes you can test later in the day and get an accurate result its just the levels are higher in the morning!

DawnAS · 21/07/2008 14:35

Ladies,

If we all manage to get PG during this summer, I think we should have baby T-shirts printed with:-

I was Conceived during BD-Fest Summer 2008 on them, what do you think? I think they'd look rather cute in either pink or blue!!

Welcome Eth37.

I hope you're right Flirty or I'm going to feel like a complete idiot and will definitely deserve the "Symptom-Spotter of the Month" award!!

My tests didn't arrive today - how frustrating!! Which means that it'll be at least Wednesday morning now until I can test, that's assuming that they arrive tomorrow although......

Does anyone know whether you can test later in the day and still get a positive result if you're a day before AF, I've ordered the most sensitive ones....

B - what pram have you picked??

crunchynutter · 21/07/2008 13:51

lol i have been looking at twin prams so i cant choose one until i know for sure haha i have seen a few potentials though! I bought some nice undies too- but just because i have a bit of an underwear obsession and hadnt been able to buy any for ages!! I am now slowly building my collection back and throwing quite a lot away (I really do have a problem! It is now starting to spread to shoes though i am really trying not to splash out on the gorgeous heels i have seen!) my hubby does not really notice nice new underwear i'm afraid- hes a little odd but sexy just doesnt get him going- he tends to get hot under the collar when im in my big fluffly dressing gown acting like an idiot! He prefers humour to sex kitten! Ah well- i know my sexy underwear helps me feel better even if it has no effect on him! I dont much like the look of those nursing bras though lol- im sure itll all be worht it

FlirtyThirty · 21/07/2008 13:46

Hi Di Hi Ladies - well, the wicked witch Flo has parked her broomstick in my house this morning!
No worries though...I wasn't very optimistic about my timings this month anyways and besides this is The Summer of Love so I'm in fine spirits for a successful month ahead!

Dawn - I am totally convinced you're PG now!

Linwin - sorry AF got you too.

Bonifacio - I too worked out when baby would be due if I conceive this month (24 April for me). It also has wedding implications for me...my best friend is due to get married beginning of May and I'd hate to miss it! Would be very pissed off if junior decided that of all days was a good one to put in an appearance! Will have to hope I'm on time if I do get PG!
Oh, and I've got a spreadsheet of baby things to buy too! Love researching them!!!

Eth37 - Welcome darling! We are a pretty pleasant bunch so happy to have you join the crowd!

Summerbird - get on your 'BD Fest 2008' t-shirt and get down too it!

And hi to everyone else too...

Flirty x

Bonifacio · 21/07/2008 13:33

My DP I am sure knows what a PITA i'm going to be!! So to make up for being the high maintainence person that I am, I have booked to have a fancy bikini wax done and have bought some sexy undies!! I am hoping that will keep him at least a little happy!!

I keep meaning to have a look on ebay but as i'm not in the UK it could be a PITA but we are going back at xmas so if I am pg by then I could have it delivered and bring it back here, although I wouldn't want to scratch it all in the plane hold!! The cheapest I have seen my pram (also already chosen) is 530gbp so will def see if I can get it cheaper...

bluestarlavender · 21/07/2008 13:25

Crunchy - yes as a teacher you guys do quite well with regards to maternity benefits. It's not the basic allowance which is what my company gives! Some of the companies I work with give their staff full pay! Wish I worked for someone like that!!

Summerbird - sounds really promising!! Fingers crossed for you this month!!

B - Thanks...not feeling too hopeful, but you guys are right, it might have been too early! As for pram buying - it is fun. My sis went through loads of potentials before finally picking one. It's really sad, but I've already picked the one I want.... But one tip I do have is that whatever pram you decide on, check out ebay to see if you can get it cheaper than the shops. The one I like is £250 online and £130 on ebay with postage, it's quite a big difference.

And a big hi to Eth37! My BDing tip is to make sure you BD before ovulation not after (like me this month!!).

Dawn - good plan about the Psychic! With regard to next steps, you make an appointment for blood test to confirm pregnancy and then I think you can have a scan at around 8 weeks...

Linwin - sorry about the AF!! I guess you're CD1 today...it's disappointing, but at least you're in a whole new fresh cycle. Our poor DHs!! I wonder if any of them know what this month is going to be like for them!!

BSL x

Bonifacio · 21/07/2008 12:41

HI et welcome! NOT trying Not to concieve is just as good as trying! I have no tips but I am sure someone will be alsong soon who has!!

crunchynutter · 21/07/2008 12:41

Hi eth37 Welcome! we are all very new here so you have chosen a good thread- and dont worry, joy of the chatroom is you can never give TMI! we share all! I am completely clueless so you sound very well informed to me! I have no idea how to tell when im ovulating or what CM is or anything at all- i am just waiting at the moment for my body to be clear of DP injection and for AF to return then maybe i can work all the other stuff out! Good luck xx

Bonifacio · 21/07/2008 12:39

Dawn the number doesn't work from here I have no idea why!?!?

Luckily DP works for a really good company so I think he gets either 2 or 3 weeks paid paternity. And I think women get 9 months.

If anyones going to the GP's soon feel free to ask if taking 5mg of folic acid is ok!! I don't know why I just don't ask my friend which tablets the ob/gyn prescribed her I don't really want her to know we are ttc though...

Dawn from what I know, you can make an appointment to have the test confirmed and they will take blood etc to confirm. But I know that some people wait until they are around 12 weeks before going. My friend is only 16 weeks and has had 4 scans over here already!

I think to save on money etc we will be buying a cot/bed the one I want is around 200gbp so not bad at all. Though the thing I am most excited about getting is the pram!! I love researching them!
BSL I am sure you just tested too early!! I hope you get your BFP soon or get AF so you can at least get on to Cycle2!

I don't mind now that AF arrived its just when it doesn't arrive and I convince my self I have cravings and symptoms. If it would just arrive on the day its supposed to then I could get in the right mindset to start again next month! Ah well its here now!!

summerbird · 21/07/2008 12:32

oh and bluestarlavender it IS a fest at the moment, my DH cant believe his luck

eth37 · 21/07/2008 12:31

Does anyone mind if I join this thread? It is our first month ttc, and am feeling pretty anxious about the whole thieng! In fact, we're not technically 'ttc', just rather not trying NOT to conceive, which I think some people have said! It is our 2 year wedding anniversary today. We BD-d without anything (sorry tmi but first time for me!) on Saturday and last night, and this morning I have got watery CM which I think means I am ovulating? It is only CD12 though so not sure. My cycles are 26 - 27 days. ANy tips?!

summerbird · 21/07/2008 12:29

My DH wants to make the cot, until he realised that IKEA do a perfectly reasonable one for half the hassle!!!

BD'd last night and OV'd this morning, so am ever hopeful!!
