Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

My PG friend who already has a DD has said that she was told she could fly anytime up to 6 months. They only say that you might just not feel up to it on the first 3 but there is no medical reason why you cant. So i am working on anytime up to 6 months. I think it is better if you have a docs note towards the end of the 6 months.

Hope that helps - and crunchy try not to be too down, just keep on BDing and being positive

Thanks BSL I followed the link. When i try to log in it says:

So i thought maybe i tried it when somebody first mentioned it so i tried lost password- typed in my email and it says my account cannot be located its odd- nobody else seems to have any trouble logging in!

Thanks Saz well i would say ill try to time the babies but im not having much luck with that as it is lol will have to talk to my dear hubby about the possibility of losing the 3000 if i cant fly

There is a fertility temp monitor thing at boots for about 13 pound- it is underneath the technical one it sounds like you have BSL has any one tried that one?it comes with a chart and instructions- my hubby would probably have to fill that in though lol im useless! i might wait til i see the doctor before i buy it (having blood tests tomorrow so ill see him in a week to discuss them and will casually ask for TTC advice- he has been my family doctor since i was born though so it will feel a little strange xx

saz007 · 31/07/2008 15:21

Crunchy different airlines have different policies (I've looked into this already!) but it's usually around 26-28 weeks from what I've read. I think they will still accept you with a doctors note after that.

I did read something that says it's best to avoid flying in the first three months, but I don't know how correct that is???

bluestarlavender · 31/07/2008 15:01

Crunchy - it's weird that FF won't let you on! And it's a shame as it has some great advice! You're going to www.fertilityfriend.com right??

Yes you need to get a special thermometer...it's a basal body temperature one. If you can't get on to FF, you can actually buy fertlity monitoring temp packs from Boots. It has a little booklet inside, along with thermometer - I don't have this one, but I've seen them and they look good if you can't use FF.

I do have two different lots though...I bought a digital fertility monitoring thing from Boots (£40) (it's a gadget that has a built in thermometer and records upto 4 months of readings) and also ordered a BBT thermometer on line (from access diagnostics, I think. Where Flirty got her Pre-seed from) and use that to plot my chart on FF. Personally I don't think too much of the gadget as it's difficult to read.

I bet there are other fertility charting sites about though, other than FF!

Hope that helps.

Silly question too- Does anyone know when you can/can't fly when pregnant? We are supposed to be booking for Italy soon and i am slightly concerned about that lol xx

crunchynutter · 31/07/2008 14:47

Thanks BSL just feel kind of useless- im unsure about the whole temping thing and FF wont let me on for some reason so cant use that! Do you buy special thermometer things? I really am clueless- it shouldnt be this hard should it! xx

bluestarlavender · 31/07/2008 14:38

Crunchy - don't be sad!! You can temp! In fact, it might be good thing if you do. I know your periods haven't come back, but if you are regularly BDing, you might not get an AF as you could get pregnant straight away. If you start temping, FF might be able to pin point your OV day from the temps...it's just a thought. After all you might get PG before any of us, but you won't even know to take a test!!

P.S. I'm glad I'm not alone with the CM thingy. I might ask on the other thread...some of the guys there are much more clued up than me. I'll report back with any advice

crunchynutter · 31/07/2008 14:29

Hi all- i feel today. I can't do any of this charting/ counting stuff. AF still hasn't arrived, nothing going on CM wise and whenever i get stomache cramps that i convince myself are either OV or PMT pains they can always be justified by too much food/excercise/slept funny etc etc and nothing ever seems to come of it I feel like a bit of a fraud being on here- I am TTC but it doesnt seem like i can- we are just haveing to BD as often as possible for practice...

God im sorry for the moan, gets me down that i can't DO anything and i feel like ill be here forever.

Hope you are all having more positive days! xx

heverhoney1 · 31/07/2008 14:24

glad I am not the only 1 who is baffled by the CM thing

I have just ordered 100 opk sticks then I figure I can p on sticks to my hearts content and figure out exactly what is going on with me Ps - Thanks for the link £26 for 100!!!! I paid that for 7

got to go out now but will be back later give Dawn luck and hugs for me if she comes back on - thanks

saz007 · 31/07/2008 14:19

What a day...arrrggghhh!!! Thanks I feel better now!

Eth AF isnt due until next weekend (CD19 today) so I don't think I'll be testing for a while yet. But seriously tho, this two weeks is going to be the longest in my life - does it get any easier????

Summerbird we're planning a trip in November. Thinking about going back to Florida, I'm hoping I'll be pg by then, but am just going to take it easy somewhere warm

The whole CM baffles me completely

bluestarlavender · 31/07/2008 14:01

Hi guys,

Just got back from the hospital. Stupid consultant appointment to talk about my hayfever! Unfortunately because I am TTC there's nothing they can do! Rah! I also had to wait almost an hour and a half for them to tell me that!

Anyhow, trying to catch up.

Apparently OV pain can happen before, during or after you OV. I've also been told that the most reliable way to tell OV day is through temp. You might not be producing enough hormone for the stick to pick up...

Someone of the Bonkers thread told me that only 30% of women get an implantation bleed...so definitely a minority!

With regard to CM, I'm completely baffled by trying to analyse it! I can't tell the difference at all! But I checking almost everyday this cycle, so will be on the look ut for EWCM! But I don't think I've ever really noticed it before.

I'm so sorry for you guys on the 2WW!! I'm not looking forward to mine at all! It's such a horrid time and each day goes by so slow and you're watching for potential symptoms all the time!!

More later ladies!!

BSL x

heverhoney1 · 31/07/2008 13:12

is it poss to OV without a +ve opk because I get pains to 1 side of my lower abdomen which I just assumed to be ov pain -infact getting it NOW!- but opk says no????

summerbird · 31/07/2008 12:59

Yeah i reckon you ovulated eth that is exactly what i get and at the right time. it is just like an appendicitis pain.

Also i dont get EWCM so again this might be a rarity.

Thanks for saying that about the implantation bleed, i have been looking out for that ever since OV and have been disappointed, even if i am not PG this month it is good to know that it isnt a certainty that i will get the bleed

I am now on CD25, AF due on Monday, I was just saying on the Over 35's thread that i am going to plan a skiing holiday if AF arrives. I reckon if i get PG in the next month or so i could still go in January and just not ski - ie chill out at the spas and swimming pool and shops whilst the others are on the slopes. A chalet holiday is really relaxing too if you want it to be. Cant put my life on hold forever!

eth37 · 31/07/2008 12:42

PS does anyone know if ovulation ALWAYS occurs with the EWCM? This month I was sure I had ovulated around CD 13/14 and, come to think of it, I said to a colleague that I had a sharp pain on my left side and she asked me if I thought it was appendicitis or if I was ovulating! I said I didn't think it was bad enough for appendicitis (and isn't that the right side?) so maybe that was it?? BUT, continued to have EWCM for a few days after...

eth37 · 31/07/2008 12:40

WHat CD are you, summerbird? I keep forgetting. I am CD22. Apparently it is v v v rare to get an implantation bleed. I don't think I have ever felt ovulation... I am getting v impatient. Only thing I have is a v sore left boob - but not in the middle, on the outside of it, where my ribs are. Has been getting worse every day. I always get sore boobs before AF though. And it actually feels like it might be muscular, anyway!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

summerbird · 31/07/2008 12:40

ps eth - Dawn is on the Bonkers Anonymous thread, i just had a read of it and she has mentioned that she is going for a scan today, i am thinking things might be OK for her. Here is hoping for a sprightly happy post from her later on today!

summerbird · 31/07/2008 12:36

Do any of you actually feel it when you ovulate? I certainly do - i get a sharp pain for about 4-6 hours on one side. Almost like an indigestion/appendicitis pain.

I am a bit fed up because i still have no symptoms, no implantation bleed, no feeling queasy, no tiredness etc. But am not letting it get me down.

heverhoney1 · 31/07/2008 11:45

Thanks eth- all though I dont think that will help with my obsession with ping on the damn sticks every chance I get lol. I am rubbish all round really I am having difficulty categorising the stages of CM suppose I will get the hang of it would just be good to know I am actually having a cycle so I can work out what happens when (Or pref just a BFP so I dont have to work it all out- but now I dont even know when I can test for that because I dont know how long my cycle is AAAARRRGGGHHHHH).

Sorry for offloading guys just having a really down day. Sure I will be fine soon- mood swings are a good thing right????

FlirtyThirty · 31/07/2008 11:29

Thank eth! My cycles are quite short 25/26 days. I've been charting my temp, and by that I would have OVd yesterday, I had a dip yesterday and then a big rise today...but no so according to the OPK...
We've BDd Monday and Wednesday this week, and I'll aim again for Friday...but we'll just have to see... For some reason, I just don't think this will be our month...but then it is only cycle 2, so I really must not let it get to me...

eth37 · 31/07/2008 11:29

Hever I find it v v hard to get a line on those sticks. Apparently some people will only get the surge for about an hour, so you literally have to be testing all the time! Don't worry. Have you got EWCM?

heverhoney1 · 31/07/2008 11:26

grrr feeling a bit don today myself. still getting -ve opk and on cd16 starting to think my cycle only arrived last month to put pay to any BDing during DP and my first time abroad in 5 years!! Now I think I have stopped working again. It sucks!!! looks like much today.

eth37 · 31/07/2008 11:06

Flirty sorry you're feeling down. I had that this cycle - I really can't get to grips with when I OV-ed. We BD-ed CD11 as had 'worked out' this was a good day, but really not sure if I even ovulated 'til CD 16.... Remember sperm can live for up to 5 days (and some say 7). Using the preseed prolongs the life of the little swimmers as well, so don't fret too much. I totally understand though. I can't stop looking at the calendar and over-analyisng possibilities / counting days etc! It is driving me mad - this month has been the longest cycle ever! If you ovulate on, say, day 12, and have a 14 day luteal phase, that would mean your cycle length was only 26 days. How long are they normally? Mine are usually 27 days which was why I was hopeful for a CD11 BD, but having said that the EWCM seemed late this month... GRRRR!

FlirtyThirty · 31/07/2008 10:51

Negative OPK (just a faint line)...now I'm sad... I really wanted it to be positive today - beginning to think I may be one of those people ho doesn't OV every cycle...which I know is silly as I'm only on CD11.

eth37 · 31/07/2008 10:27

PS where is Dawn's post? I can't seem to find it.... How'd you get on, Dawn?? X

eth37 · 31/07/2008 10:24

Oh no - I just re-read Bonifacio's post - do you mean 'signing off for a while' as in, you are leaving us? Oh hon, please don't, am sure DH is just tired - it sounds like he has a v stressful job etc. Are weekends any better for you two? Please come back!
