12 months TTC baby #2 - please give me some success stories/hope!

We have been TTC our 2nd now for 12 months and I feel utterly fed up and have lost all hope. First was conceived within 3 months. We have had a fertility referral sent and are awaiting an appointment but no idea how long we will be waiting for that, or how much they will even investigate. My bloods last month didn’t fully confirm ovulation but were in the grey area of maybe having ovulated (progesterone level was 20).

I feel like nobody around me understands what we’re going through because most have gone on to have their second babies by now, fairly easily. I really need some success stories or words of wisdom to give me some hope at this point - I am feeling almost defeated by it all. And I would also love to hear from anyone else in the same boat, who would just like to have a chat about it.

Congrats @MochaLove
Totally relate to everyone being pregnant @Posypear

Theboymolefoxandhorse · 01/11/2026 14:10

Massive congratulations @MochaLove - so pleased for you and a positive bit of hope for us all x x x

Posypear · 01/11/2026 06:27

Congratulations @MochaLove ! That's a great positive - mine were never that dark with my chemicals!
I'm also ttc for my second 6 month in, 2 chemicals, pregnant first time with dc1. I'm the only one in my antenal class not pregnant/ just had a baby and it feels like everyone I know is pregnant!

Wishing you a boring pregnancy and an easy labour. Congratulations!

Optimist2020 · 26/10/2026 10:47

Congratulations @MochaLove

The unbelievable has happened this morning, I did a test to put myself out of my misery as I’m 14dpo with no symptoms. I can’t believe it, I’m in shock. I am guarding my heart though after a previous chemical pregnancy and still worry the line looks faint for 14dpo? But trying to have hope that this will be our time 😭❤️ and I don’t wish to be insensitive to anyone reading this thread, who has been TTC for a long time wishing for that positive test. Wishing that for you all too ❤️

I conceived baby 1 at 34 and cycle number 5, now am 39 pregnant with baby 2 and conceived at cycle 7.

Hang in there and continue to use supplements. We dtd every other day for better sperm quality.

Took us 15 months but my gorgeous 5 week old red head is currently in my arms! The biggest things for us was diet- so much tahini! And having sex everyday. We did hire a private nutritionist who we saw for 11 months ( this was during pregnancy as well because I suffered from a lot of anxiety after three losses) and did see a private consultant.

@MochaLove i have exactly the same feeling about not being present and always being preoccupied. But I don’t think we can beat ourselves up about it because it just shows it’s something that it’s important to us and want for us and for our existing child. All feelings are valid.im sorry to hear of your loss too 🤍

I think if you can afford to be seen privately it will definitely be quicker than NHS but depending on age you might not need to rush it. Everyone does say the time you relax and chill out is when it just happens - apparently

Thank you 🩷 yes definitely, it’s something I really want for my child, those feelings of wanting to give her a sibling have definitely got stronger as time has gone on!

I’m 34 so we have time, but possibly not all the time in the world. So difficult to know isn’t it. I’ve been told it’s a 3 month wait for an NHS initial consultation. I do think there is some truth to being relaxed, we took a month off of TTC and we had our early loss the following month - I definitely felt more relaxed the month I got pregnant, having had that pressure off the month before.

I conceived DC1 first month and now 7 months in to trying for DC2 and feeling very defeated too. Everyone around me is pregnant

Sorry you’re feeling this way too 🩷 I think it’s really tricky to understand why it’s not happening when you’ve conceived so easily the first time. I feel the same about everyone being pregnant, when you’ve already got one you’re surrounded by people having their next.

@Firsttimerugbymum Very similar story to us then! I also keep thinking maybe we were just lucky with our girl the first time around.

Have you had your tests through the NHS or privately? I’m really not sure what to do at the moment. It’s a 3 month wait currently for an initial consultation on the NHS, and I’m not actually sure how much they will investigate for secondary infertility.

Fingers crossed for you getting your BFP soon 🥰

We just went straight private - due to my age I didn't want to wait and also like you thought they wouldn't do much for secondary infertility

Fingers crossed for the next test in November - otherwise we may just go straight to IVF

Ten months into TTC #2, after #1 was conceived second month!

Not sure if we were lucky and she was just meant to be.

My tests have come back ok, husbands SS showed suboptimal fertility on all fronts but have repeat analysis next month to see if it was a one off.

Hoping to maybe get a hycosy soon!

@OK92 Thank you 🥰 so tough isn’t it, I feel like I wasn’t prepared at all for this journey! I really wanted to have 3 myself but after this last year, I think we will likely be stopping at number 2 if we get there. I am hoping the fertility clinic offer me a hycosy! We haven’t had a SA yet as the clinic do that. I’ve thought about using a fertility cup, maybe I will give that a go.

@Theboymolefoxandhorse thank you, how long have you been trying for number 2 for? Sorry you’re going through similar. It’s so hard to imagine seeing a positive test now, even though we did have an early loss on cycle 5. Yes I’ve been feeling that guilt too - feeling like I’m not always present and obsessed with TTC at times. I’ve had some months off of using OPKs for this reason. I’ve been using conceive plus as we used that when we conceived our first, and taking Zita West fertility supplements, but only for the last few months. I’m not sure I can even wait for the fertility appointment, I am considering going privately (even though we can’t really afford it either). Sending lots of baby dust to you too 🩷

Aww I’m sorry @MochaLove. also TTC #2 and also didn’t try very hard for number 1 so it feels like a bit of a surprise and every month you do feel more deflated. It’s hard not to get obsessed. I also feel weirdly guilty about wanting so desperately another one when I have my dc1 like their not enough? We’ve already decided we won’t go down the fertility route mostly due to cost so it almost feels like quite a lot more pressure.

Every cycle is a new start- it’s easy to say but try not to think about the ones before. I have no tips - sending solidarity - I’ve tried to stay away from OPK as just tracking alone has sent me a bit obsessed and doolally. I’m considering some supplements - coq10 maybe and people have raved about conceive plus lube. Try not to be hard on yourself, it’s ok to be disappointed and upset.

sending positivity and baby dust

I took 8 months to conceive number two and can totally relate to how awful and stressful the whole situation is - and you’ve been in it for longer than I was. We are now about to start TTC number 3 and I’m not sure I can face a potential long road ahead!

The cycle I got pregnant we had done a few things 1. I had a hyscosy (didn’t reveal a blockage but perhaps helped) 2. Used the fertilily cup and 3. Husband had been taking Impryl supplements as his SA evidenced low motility despite a high count.

Hang in there 🩷
