Feeling disheartened after five IUI attempts and looking for reassurance

Same sex couple, been trying with IUI for past year. First attempt got preganant but had a miscarriage, now we’ve just done attempt 5.

10dpo and BFN. I know that doesn’t mean we’re out but honestly feeling so disheartened and like it won’t happen. It was positive at 10DPO last time and I had some symptoms but have none now.

As we have to spread the IUI due to cost it’s been well over a year now. We started trying when I was 33 and I turn 35 next month, logically I know it’s not a cliff but starting to feel like it will never happen.

I didn’t imagine trying would take such an emotional toll. Every TTW we’ve had has been horrible, maybe because of the miscarriage.

Think I just need some reassurance that other people have taken this long. I have an NHS appointment in November as we will be at 6 attempts then and maybe entitled to some help from the NHS/IVF.

Hello, very sorry about the long journey, it feels relatable. Our story is not exactly the same, but we also had our first try result in pregnancy and then followed by several unsuccessful ones. Because of Covid there was further delay and we started suspecting whether the storage of the sperms was playing a role (we batch-ordered at the start so clinic was storing them). So we decided to do a last attempt and ordered one new sample from the spermbank and it worked. Of course I can't tell for sure if it was due to the freshly shipped sample but I feel it was. If you are using sperm from a bank and it is being stored at the clinic then I would recommend ordering new, appreciate there are cost implications. Fingers crossed for you!
