Negative FRER at 9DPO, please tell me your stories ❤️

Hi ladies, hope you’re all well ❤️

I’m hoping someone has got some advice or words of wisdom for me! We are TTC for baby number 1 and we are currently in cycle 7. The reason for my post is my cycles are typically 26/27 days long. I’m currently on CD28 with no sign of AF and really trying not to get my hopes up too much as I did a FRER at around 9dpo (I think) which was negative and so I’d currently be 12dpo (I’m saying “I think” as I ran out of strips just as I think the LH was rising on my opks (above 1.0) so I’m going by the Flo and premom app predictions. Hopefully, if I mention a few symptoms I’ve noticed (or if anyone has experienced this) you’ll be able to help or let me know what happened with your situation!… I’m aware nobody can say yes or no to pregnancy definitively as the only thing that can confirm is to take another test but I only have some easy@home ones left at the moment and I know they need quite a substantial level of HCG and I’m driving myself crazy so probably just need to have a chat about it and nobody (obviously apart from DP) knows we are TTC as I’ve wanted to keep it private because it’s such a personal thing.

So some symptoms as follows because some are unusual for me:

Around 2-3DPO and continuing for a few days I had very sensitive nipples which I’ve never experienced before.

I have been quite bloated (but this can happen in most cycles)

I have had days on and off over the last few days of peeing a lot.

I have actually felt I have more energy over the last couple of days.

Heavy and full breasts for most of the last week which I do get before AF but they usually ease off but this seems consistent.

I’m not spotting as I usually would for a couple of days before AF but have a white/dries clear cm)

I have had rumbling, pulling, “interesting” sensations on the lower right side for the past few days and aching on what I assume would have been around implantation perhaps?

and lastly at CD28 (I have had a 28 day cycle twice in the last 12 months so this is the higher end of “normal” for me) tomorrow if AF does not arrive I will be officially late.

there are probably some other things I’ll remember to ask/mention and sorry for the long post but as I say, any words of wisdom, advice, similar stories which have gone on to be successful or just any support much appreciated ❤️ xx

Hi, thanks for reading and replying ❤️

Really hoping you get your positive soon, have you started looking into fertility testing? My DP had semen analysis a couple of weeks ago and all came back really good, just slightly low volume (which the clinic said could be due to not drinking enough water - which he doesn’t so he’s doing his best to up his intake, or they said it could be from him missing the very first part of his collection into the cup etc) which is reassuring so for us as cycle 7 maybe we are just in that category of people where it’s just a matter of time but I am thinking now of having some tests done myself. Each negative is getting harder and I’m starting to feel like there must be something wrong with me when everyone around us is seemingly falling pregnant very quickly or “by accident” and whilst I’m so happy for them it is just so disheartening that it’s not working out like that for us. I’m sure you must have experienced similar. I did unfortunately come on my period this morning - so just had a very random, very long cycle for me as I was 3 days late which feels even more cruel as I’d started to be hopeful that this was our month but on to cycle 8 🤞🏻

Thank you for mentioning the wearable monitor, I’ll have a look into that aswell!

Yeah, we have kind of done some fertility testing. DH was tested and came back fine. I had a blood test to assess egg reserve and that came back fine and recently I had a fertility ultrasound (the internal one) and that came back with no issues. I think next step for me will be the progesterone blood test to see if I don't produce enough progesterone during the luteal phase.... I usually spot a few days before my period and literally have 'crawl the walls' pain during AF for the first day or so, but that goes with ibuprofen ... I read both can be a sign of low progesterone.

I definitely know how you feel with regards to friends. I've had quite a few fall pregnant accidentally or first try and of course you're happy for them but then you're also grieving for yourself too.

I had a cycle like that a few months ago... Where I had symptoms I'd never had before and then my period was 3 days late. I wasn't temperature tracking then.. if I was, I would have known I had ovulated later and probably not got my hopes up so much and desperately googling 'positives after 14dpo stories'.

I did actually have a chemical in Feb last year. And with that, I had really obvious nausea, felt like I had been run over by a bus, and was weeing like I had a UTI. All those symptoms came by 9dpo, so that's what I'm hopelessly looking out for!

Sorry to hear AF arrived for you. I started spotting today at 11 dpo which is a sign of impending AF so I'm out again too. I'm hoping it is just a 'matter of time'. I am not hugely keen on the IVF route and want to do everything I can to give natural a chance first.

Hi @ttcfirsttime26, I didn't want to read and run because TTC can feel like such a lonely journey when you're not telling anyone. We've been TTC number 1 for 18 months and I have only just started opening up to some close friends about it because I was starting to go crazy internalising everything!

In terms of what you're going through though, all I can say is that I've experienced every symptom under the sun during the TWW and it's turned out not what I hoped. Also, I have had a couple of cycles where they've been longer due to later ovulation. Testing at 9dpo is pretty early so I really hope that you get your BFP now! ☺️

I have just started tracking BBT using a wearable because I really disliked the thermometer process and like you say, it's not accurate if you don't have a good sleep. Because a wearable monitors skin temp not internal, the readings aren't quite the same but it's the drop and then rise you need to see which this does show.

@Didimum Yeah, I understand I can’t say for sure re ovulation without doing BBT but obviously I know what cycle day I’m on because I know when my last period began :)

@Didimum Thank you for replying. I guess the OPKs give a fairly good indication from what I’ve seen as I’ve tracked most of the last 7 cycles with them and they do show a clear rise and fall. I don’t track BBT just because it seems like, from what I’ve read, it can be quite inaccurate if you’re a light sleeper, wake easy or get up and down for the loo in the night!

I’m just saying that without accurate pinpointing you can’t know what dpo or cycle day you’re on. That’s all.

You’re not out til our out, but there’s no way to accurately predict ovulation unless you are temping. Good luck with the test.

ttcfirsttime26 · 06/08/2026 19:11

@TrackIt Thank you for your reply! I’ll do one of the easy@homes in the morning if there is still no sign of a period because I’ve never had a 29 day cycle x

I think at 12dpo (13 if you use in the morning) will be fine for easy at home tests. (If you are indeed that far anyway). I’ve always had obvious (but faint) positives by then on those if I was pregnant.
