PMS Symptoms in TWW?

Hi everyone!

I’m 6-7dpo, TTC my first baby. For the last couple of days, I’ve experienced the same kind of mild cramping, flutters and bloating that I usually do in my luteal phase and PMS. While I can’t remember whether I usually have these PMS twinges so early on in my cycle, it’s making me feel like I’m already out this month.

I am going to hold off testing until I’m at least 11dpo. In the meantime, does anyone else have any experience of these symptoms in the TWW? I know that anything before implantation occurs can’t be early pregnancy symptoms. On the other hand, I can’t help feeling like it’s just another period coming! 🤷‍♀️

Hey @teasconesandlavender I really know how you feel. I had a little cry on DH on Saturday. It's still super early days for you. Only 60% of couples conceive in the first 6 months, although it always feels like everyone else has it easy!

My temp dropped further yesterday morning and my spotting has ramped up so I'm defo out! I have booked a Doctor's appointment to hopefully get myself thoroughly looked into but it won't be seen till September.

From what I've read, a 12 day LP is absolutely normal and shouldn't impact fertility ☺️

teasconesandlavender · 10/08/2026 14:56

How are you all doing?

12DPO today, another BFN and spotting started - most likely my period!

I feel really, really down. It’s only my second cycle TTC, ever, but I’m already spiralling and convincing myself it will never happen for me. If my period starts soon, that means my luteal phase is only 12 days long. Is that too short?

Would love to hear some positive stories. 😢

I've had the boob thing before - it's really weird! But I had it around ovulation I think. I've heard vivid dreams is a thing! Fingers crossed for you. Do you think you'll still test tomorrow?

My temp dropped slightly this morning and I've started spotting, so I think I'm out 😔.

I tested this morning (11dpo) with FRER and a cheapie. They were both BFN. 😞

I still have heaviness in my boobs and my back hurts, which could probably just be PMS.

My period is due on Thursday so I’ll maybe test once more before then, otherwise wait for my period to arrive!

4dpo and cramping and spotting since O day. Never had this before!

Vivid dreams only started for me once I was 2nd trimester with my other pregnancies.
Another example of progestrone pms or pregnancy symptoms overlap

Hope you all get your BFPs soon! How are we all feeling today?

I’m 10dpo today. Yesterday, I started getting shooting pains in my right boob. Felt like it came from behind my boob into my nipple! Would last a minute or so and then stop.

I’ve also had twinges/very mild cramping very low down. I’ve had this since around 4DPO, to varying degrees!

Oh, and vivid dreams almost every night!

Thank you, i'm still quite crampy so I now just think AF will come early! We're away the weekend and will be 10dpo on monday so who knows Confused
Howare you getting on?

I am 10 dpo today, af due Tuesday or Wednesday. My temp is still up so will see if it drops over the next few days. Do you think you'll test Monday? I find it so hard seeing the negative test that I just wait until my period is late. Actually, one of the reasons I started temping was see when I've ovulated just in case I ovulate later and then my period is delayed.

Fingers crossed these are positive signs for you! I was looking at my symptoms on my Flo app from the last 5 cycles and I usually log sore boobs around now. This month they're not sore at all - probably just another cycle variation to add to the books!

6/7 dpo a few cramps today and I've just had what I can only describe as a glob of jelly like yellow tinged cm - never seen that before! Assume it's just progesterone build up and me looking for every sign!

It is so interesting how even with no known fertility issues, it can still take so long!

I’ve never thought so much about reproduction until TTC - making me think there’s still so much that needs to be studied! 😅

Yeah, it's funny how at school you're basically taught - have sex, you get pregnant - when actually there are so many nuances. I think I spent the majority of my life paranoid whenever I missed a pill and here I am almost 2 years later!

Not a break per se, but we've tried all sorts of variations from tracking to the nth degree (which I found quite stressful) to not tracking at all but dtd around mid month over a few months to see if chilling out would help.

I was going through a really stressful time at work last year and we moved house which I thought wouldn't help the situation. But I did think something may have happened by now this year.

I had a fertility scan earlier this year which came back normal and I did an egg reserve test a few years ago which came back fine. Partner has had tests and he's all good! So I'm hoping it is just a matter of time - it is so demoralising when a new PMS symptom comes along and you think it might be it!

Thank you! I really hope your fluttering and cramps turn out to be a BFP!

Implantation can occur the earlieat 5dpo to 13dpo at the latest. So no telling of it is just Progeatrone due to PMS or pregnancy at this stage.
With my 2 pregnancies (succeasful) my symptoms started at 5weeks. Before then I had symptoms that were not PMS but subtle so did not link them to pregnancy. Doggy brain, forgetfulness, extreme fatigue napping mid day (unheard of for me) 7/8DPO stabbing cramp in mllower back now assume was implantation.
Make a note of symptoms but try to relax.

Hello! I am also TTC number 1. We have been trying for 18 months and every month I convince myself my PMS symptoms might be a positive sign.

I've had cycles with flutters and cramps, cycles with nausea, cycles with pinching pains, cycles with insomnia and each time they're just new or recurrent PMS symptom playing tricks on me.

The only time I actually ever concieved, which was a chemical February last year, I had real fatigue, weeing like I had a UTI, and proper nausea from about 8dpo. So that's what I'm really looking out for again (doesn't stop me convincing myself a PMS symptom could be it tho).

And also, loads of people on here who say they had no symptoms at all in the TWW and pregnancies present themselves differently each time... So it really, really is what people say, which is just to wait and test. Arhh, the TWW is so hard.

Hi! 👋

I’m sorry to hear about your chemical ❤️💐

Did you have a break at all, in those 18 months? I can imagine it can’t always be easy, to persevere! Have you seen your GP to rule anything out?

Here’s to hoping you get your BFP this cycle - or at the very least, before the year is out. 💛

Thank you!

Is it common to get different symptoms once implantation has occurred? I’m driving myself mad, symptom spotting!

I had absolutely no symptoms at all until a few weeks after so I think it completely varies by person and pregnancy! I think if it’s pregnancy causing the symptoms, it’ll also be far enough along to get at least a v faint line on a test.

Not out at all. Implantation happens around this time so you wont get a positive till that happens and the HCG levels start increasing. Wait a few more days and test . Good luck!!

It’s progesterone, at this stage it would be high if you’d conceived or not so same symptoms.

Thanks! I guessed so.

So… does that mean I’m not out yet this cycle? 🙈 x
