I had my first appointment for fertility in May 2026 for TTC. I explained to her that we have been trying since May 2025 but ramped it up with LH testing etc summer 2025 after a few unsuccessful months. She did a blood test and with other symptoms (not ovulating) found out I have PCOS. She prescribed metformin. She also said she'll book me in for a scan on my ovaries and then emailed to say it was rejected cos enough evidence for PCOS. She said to 'keep going with the metformin' and arranged no follow up, it's been 7 weeks now. I know it takes time but I read online that the after 12 months I should maybe have been referred to fertility clinic and that the first line of action is letrozole. I don't want to try metformin for months on end to then be referred to the fertility clinic and find a long waiting list. Should I go back to GP and ask why referral and letrozole aren't considered? I'm in my thirties and feel like I'm running out of time. I also can't afford a baby after this cycle and next due to a gap in childcare funding so will have to go on pause for 3 or 4 months
