Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Thanks, AF started today so at least I'm back at CD1.

DH got some exseed tests to try as he is on some medication he wasn't on last time that can affect sperm quality and motility. He's only on a low dose and cycle 4 is still very normal but something we want to check so we can try look at alternatives with GP if needed asap.

I hope you also get some clarity soon @Springcloud26 . Messes with your hormones so much symptom spotting is so hard as your body just isn't behaving as usual.

Springcloud26 · 04/08/2026 17:57

How is everyone doing?

I’m trying not to symptom spot to guess where I might be in my cycle, but it’s so hard not to! My CM has disappeared now so think I may have ovulated, I’ll assume I’m in the TWW, unless it returns.

Hope you get some clarity soon @FlyingHighFlyingLow

I hope I can use lh strips again this cycle, will do another pregnancy test later this week to see if it’s fainter than last week or finally negative, as I’m still getting dye stealers on the lh strips.

I used ovulation strips which suggested I had an LH peak on 19th. Started getting major PMS symptoms 7 days later - bloating, nausea, insomnia, cramping. Then about 3 days ago all my PMS symptoms disappeared entirely - still not bleeding, but also now 13/14 dpo and testing negative on a 6 days early FRER.

Welcome @FlyingHighFlyingLow and @Kathi154 - so sorry to hear about your losses. Fingers crossed we all get our next BFP soon 💕

@Kathi154 do you mind me asking how long it took you to test negative after your MMC? It’s been just over three weeks since my medical management and tests are still very clearly positive which I’m finding hard - I’ve lost all pregnancy symptoms now so was sure they’d be negative or very faint.

Springcloud26 · 02/08/2026 08:59

I’m sorry for your loss @Kathi154 and glad your cycles are getting back to normal. I’m trying for my first too. How have you been feeling?

Hi @FlyingHighFlyingLow I’m sorry for your loss. How are you feeling? Have you been able to tell where you might be in your cycle with symptoms?

ohhh ladies so sorry for your losses. I’m joining after a MMC at 10 weeks in late April (not sure that counts as a recent loss now, but it still feels recent!). My cycles are just about back to normal, I’m 36 and trying for our first, we started trying again straight away because it feels like we really don’t have time to wait.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 01/08/2026 22:49

I'm TTC #2, have a 2.5 yo.

Conceived second cycle but lost at 5 weeks on the dot at beginning of July.

TTC again straight away but haven't conceived this cycle so waiting for AF to start to get back to trying again!

Springcloud26 · 01/08/2026 14:14

Oh I’m sorry to hear the spotting has returned @Pottingsheddays, hopefully it will settle soon for you.

We’re trying straight away, the midwife did say to wait until after a period to ensure the pregnancy hormones have settled back to normal, but I thought if my body wasn’t ready, it wouldn’t happen anyway, and so worth a try? I’m also feeling like my libido is returning as well as CM!

I think also trying is helping me emotionally as I’m doing something and not just waiting. x

Ahh spoke too soon the spotting is back 😐feels like it could take a while for my cycles to resettle at this rate.

I’m the same on trying not to get my hopes up - it’s tricky to find a balance between protecting your feelings and keeping some hope/positivity going. And also trying not to compare to last time and assume the timings will be the same.

Are you waiting for your period to come back before starting to try again (hope you don’t mind me asking!)? X

Springcloud26 · 31/07/2026 19:02

@Pottingsheddays that’s a good idea to give them a call on Monday to check hcg levels, hopefully you get some answers!

Yep I’ve also heard you can be more fertile after a miscarriage, I’m trying not to be too hopeful for this cycle as I don’t want to be disappointed x

Ahh I typed a reply and then lost it somehow - still very new to Mumsnet!

I’m keen to start tracking again as well, it feels so strange not knowing what point of the cycle you’re in. Definitely feel a bit in limbo at the moment. CM increasing sounds like a good sign, hopefully things are back to normal soon.

I had medical management earlier in July and the hospital said to call them if I was still testing positive three weeks later so might give them a call on Monday as it’s been three weeks and my tests are still very clearly positive. Even if they just test my hcg to see what level it’s dropped to that would be good to know.

The miscarriage was cycle one and then I got pregnant with my daughter on cycle four. So not long at all, but the months where nothing happened were tough as I’d seen so much about how you’re more fertile after a miscarriage (no idea if that’s true but it still got in my head!). That one was at 5/6 weeks though and my cycles just carried on as normal so it was all a bit easier to track x

Springcloud26 · 31/07/2026 14:37

Welcome @Pottingsheddays, I am sorry you have gone through this as well.

I’m also feeling impatient for cycle to return, it’s so frustrating waiting for hcg to go back down as can’t track ovulation, and the first cycle I used Lh strips, I conceived so really want to get back to using them. The only thing I have noticed is CM increasing, but I think it is too early for ovulation.

It must be so difficult with others having their second in your group, I hope you have lots of support.

You’re right it’s so hard to stay relaxed, I want to start swimming again but I started it the cycle I conceived, so I think it will make me feel sad knowing I would have been pregnant without realising last time I went. But also, I want to follow the same pattern of things I did last time!

How long was it after your miscarriage that you had your daughter, if you don’t mind me asking? x

So sorry to hear about your loss, MMC is such an awful thing to go through. I’d love to join for some support 💕I know I’ll feel more anxious if/when I get pregnant again.

I’m in a similar position, had a MMC at 10 weeks (development stopped at 8 weeks) in mid July. My spotting has just stopped but I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests. Feeling really impatient for my cycles to get back to normal, but trying to keep busy with fun plans and exercise for now. I felt so rough when I was pregnant I’m trying to enjoy a break from morning sickness. Still feeling a bit up and down emotionally though, a lot of our antenatal group from when we had our first are pregnant again so it’s hard not to compare.

I’m 36 and TTC #2 - our daughter is 2 and I had an early miscarriage before getting pregnant with her. I told myself I’d be more relaxed about the journey second time round, but that definitely isn’t the case!

fingers crossed our cycles are back to normal soon! X
