Anyone TTC number 2 in your mid-30s and fancy company?

Anyone else TTC number 2 in their mid-30s and fancy some company? 😊

I’m 35, have a DD who is just about to turn 4, and we’ve just started our first cycle trying for number 2.

I feel like we’d just reached the glorious stage of proper sleep, no nappies, actual conversations and being able to leave the house without half of the house crammed into a changing bag… so naturally I decided what our lives really need is a newborn 😂

I went very Type A when TTC my DD and turned the whole thing into a project - LH strips, BBT, supplements, special lube, the works 🙈 This time I’m trying very hard to be more relaxed and go with the flow. Trying being the operative word 😂

Would love some company from anyone in a similar boat: TTC number 2, mid-30s, slightly excited, slightly questioning their own sanity and trying not to symptom spot at 2DPO 😂

PS. Currently on cycle 1 and my fertile window is just about closing, so now entering the very calm and rational part where I definitely won’t analyse every bodily sensation for the next two weeks 😂🙈

Ughhh @wfcats …same!!! I’m like right, that’s it then, we effed it. My amazon basket is filled with OPKs, BBT thermometer…ready to check out. 🫣

Haha @CasualOverthinkerI also tested today at max 8dpo and was shocked and hurt that it was negative, mentally declared myself out etc 🙃 Wishing you self restraint on holding off for the next few days, I know I'll be testing daily from now because I am a clown and a glutton for punishment.

@inkgirlkeeping everything crossed for you, are you going to try a different brand of tests?

inkgirl · 17/07/2026 10:21

Im not sure but I think i had a faint positive last night and this morning. It wasnt very obvious but you could just about see it. I'm hoping its not another false positive. Had false positives with superdrug own brand this one was a amazon one. Never had problems with it in the past.

CasualOverthinker · 17/07/2026 10:12

Hello from Cuckoo Land 👋🤡
Guess who decided to test this morning at somewhere between best case 8DPO and worst case 5DPO? 😂
This clown.
As expected, it was a spectacularly, offensively, sparkling white negative 🤍😂
So I’ve decided to step away from the pee sticks and try again on Monday 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Feel free to check back in on Sunday when I’m trying to negotiate with myself.)

Good luck to everyone testing over the next couple of days! I’m crossing everything that we start seeing some lovely lines on this thread 🤞🥰

Fingers crossed for all those testing in the next few days 🤞

My LH ratio reached 0.3 for the first time today on CD14 so hopefully something starting to happen.

Mortima · 17/07/2026 08:40

Checking in...11DPO, and I'm going to test in the morning if my period hasn't beaten me to it. My boobs are a bit less sensitive today so I'm fairly sure my progesterone is dropping and I'm out, but we'll see.

Orchid887 · 16/07/2026 17:07

@Mortima- Thank you! It all feels so tentative and amazing and terrifying and wonderful!

She is bloody wonderful!

Mortima · 16/07/2026 16:52

@Orchid887 That's a great line! Fingers crossed for you - I'm in awe, sorry I didn't register about the IVF. Your friend sounds ace.

@CasualOverthinker Sorry you're struggling today. I think some of us aren't built to be chilled and laid back about this! I wouldn't say I'm a type-A personality but I'd definitely feel much more anxious about TTC if I wasn't tracking anything. Maybe expect the worst, hope for the best with this one? It's only cycle #1, and you can wee on ovulation sticks and temp to your hearts' content next time if you need to

Orchid887 · 16/07/2026 16:35

Hey everyone!

@ThisNoisyLemur- "2DPO and wondering if it's too early to test" is literally my entire personality 😂 you definitely fit right in here!

@Mortima- No OH here, I'm going it solo via IVF (which is the same as I did for my daughter). My mother and my friend have been my confident. Bless my friend, I came home today to a beautiful bunch of flowers and a note about it being positive. Had a good cry! Ooh, I love both ideas but definitely 12 DPO for me.. mostly because the ability to wait that long is amazing in itself. 😂

@Hopefulbutexhausted- Honestly, with all the things I have learnt on this IVF journey, it blows my mind that I EVER thought that so much as touching a man would leave me pregnant!

@CatLadyH- Hi and welcome!! Wishing you all the luck.

@wfcats- We've definitely had some moments of "wtf am I doing?!".. then she goes to sleep and I look at her little face and it all makes sense.

@CasualOverthinker- you are NOT the only one. My best confidence crisis was when I convinced myself that the highly rated fertility clinic had accidentally left my embryo behind because I swore I could see a dot. Obviously they know better than me because that embryo is currently playing Paw Patrol...
It's beyond hard. I've always been super regular but the cycle before this one, I knew I'd ovulated earlier than Flo predicted because of the EWCM. I then came on early as expected with early ovulation. It's a huge thing and natural to want to be in control.

Sooo... my evening positives are still darker than my morning ones. However, this morning my 7dp5dt (or 12dpo equivalent.. well, 11.5 since transfer was the afternoon?) It was pretty obvious..

I'm obviously now ultra paranoid about chemicals and losses after my last couple rounds. But also cautiously hopeful that maybe, just maybe, I'll be bringing our little rainbow home.

Hey, everyone! How are we all doing?

@Orchid887 how are you? Any test updates? We have everything crossed for you and dark dark lines!
@Mortima good luck with your test on 12DPO! So exciting and nerve-racking! Also your self-restraint should be studied!!

Bit of a wobble from me today if I’m honest…

I had this grand idea that I’d be all chill and relaxed about TTC this time around, but it turns out I’m actually really bad with uncertainty and get far too in my own head.

As I’ve mentioned before, because it’s our first cycle trying, I didn’t bother with OPKs or BBT. At the time I thought, “My cycles are regular, Flo is usually spot on, it’ll be fine.” Reader, it was not fine.

Now I’m paying the price because I genuinely have no idea when, or even if, I ovulated. I had some CM and thought “YES! This is it!” but Flo reckons I ovulated around 9 July, Natural Cycles is suggesting maybe today?! One has my period due next week (which feels about right), the other says the week after. DTD timing was… not exactly an Olympic performance either 🙃

To top it all off, my Apple Watch wrist temperature has been about as helpful as a chocolate teapot - no obvious rise, no dip, nothing. I’m honestly tempted to throw all the apps in the bin and start sacrificing offerings to the fertility gods instead 😂😭

Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s had a complete confidence crisis in the TWW!

Hey, I have just entered the TWW, am 2dpo today and this is the point of my cycle I find the hardest as I always feel in limbo and just wishing the days away until I can test 😅

I've definitely been there with the cycles of not tracking and then feeling lost as to whether timing has been like normal or not and deciding when best to test, especially when apps predict one thing and your body is almost telling you another. I got rid of all other apps a long time ago apart from premom as I use it just to track my OPKs and input when my periods are.
Go by what you feel is right and how you feel based on your normal cycle 🩷

@FlyingHighFlyingLow So sorry about your miscarriage Flowers The waiting is interminable isn't it...hope it comed quickly for you.

@wfcats I definitely relate to that - we've just started potty training and I wonder several times a day why I want to do this again! But then he goes to bed and I think..."aah isnt he lovely" 😅

Thanks to everyone who suggested I test on 12DPO, I will go with that! I've never made it that far before so we'll see 😂I'm starting to doubt myself now though, I've got no early signs.

CatLadyH · 15/07/2026 22:52

hi 👋🏻 hope ok to join we are month 2 TTC baby no.2 we have a 23 month old DS ☺️ had positive OPK cycle day 14 and in TWW now 🫣😬

@Peedthebed I got this one last time - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0842Q3W7T?th=1 I think it takes about 60 seconds? I haven't bothered with it yet this time around, and feel vaguely nostalgic for the days where I could lounge in bed taking my temp, after waking naturally (or even from an alarm clock!)

@wfcats Camping 😂bless him. Just nod and smile...

I'd quite to do a poll to help me decide when to test!

Option 1 - Saturday (12DPO)
Pros: Taking DH out for a surprise meal at our face local restaurant, babysitter arranged, so if positive it would bring a nice sense of occasion to telling him. If negative, I can enjoy a few beers guilt-free.

Cons: Small restaurant, so not a private place for an intimate moment. I'm already a bit anxious about the whole babysitter thing and the nerves might send me over the edge. Good chance of an accurate result but not 100%.

Option 2 - Sunday (13DPO) - AF due
Pros: DH's actual birthday, so also a nice time to tell him. More chance of an accurate test.

Cons: Less exciting to do it at home with toddler running around all over the shop; might be a slight bummer on the day if it's negative (for me, not him, as I'm not going to tell him it's time to test and I think he's quite oblivious).

Another vote for 12dpo! I tested positive when pregnant with my now toddler at 11dpo, I think it's reasonable! And you've considered how you'd handle both outcomes too! Good luck!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 15/07/2026 20:26

Ooo fingers crossed thats the first of many lines on here!

Still trucking along with low LH levels here. Only CD12 since miscarriage bleeding started so not surprising. I just wish I had a fast forward button and could go between LH surge/ovulation, bypass 2 week window, rest, move back to surge/ovulation again until positive 😂

I also vote 12dpo! No idea how you're making it that far tbh, I'm gearing up to go tomorrow on day 7 for absolutely no logical reason

I'm feeling really moody today, not sure if it's hormones or ttc stress but I'm getting very annoyed at my 3 year old for being a 3 year old and then questioning why I want another one when they're such hard work even though it's the thing I want most and that's why I'm so ratty...I hate the 2ww

Ughhhh no but literally SAME. I have been feeling so annoyed for some reason, then get annoyed at myself and feel guilty for feeling annoyed in the first place. 🫣

12DPO gets my vote! 🙋‍♀️😂 Mostly because I am a sucker for the potential lovely dinner reveal, but also 12DPO feels positively restrained by the standards of this thread 🤣 And if it’s negative… beers. I see no flaws in this plan 😂

CasualOverthinker · 15/07/2026 13:54

Bahahahah 😄 I love that all the DHs are just so blissfully ignorant 😂
I am God knows what DPO today. I’m absolutely kicking myself for tracking ovulation in no reliable way whatsoever 🙃 I’m going with 6DPO based on my app’s prediction, but really only God and possibly my ovaries know.
On one hand, I’m convinced we completely botched the timing and don’t stand a chance this cycle. On the other, I’m absolutely desperate to test. Make it make sense 😂
I’ve told myself not before Friday at the absolute earliest, and even that is frankly feral behaviour. My next period is predicted for the 24th and Flo is usually accurate within +/- a day. Pre-TTC me thought “wow, that’s basically spot on!” Current me is like… PLUS OR MINUS A DAY?! THAT’S A WHOLE 48-HOUR WINDOW. WHAT HAVE I DONE?! 😭😂
I deeply regret my brief and ill-advised chill era.

Hahahaha not him casually discussing what you need to do “before you get pregnant” while you’re at 6DPO fighting for your life not to test 😂😂 Bless them, they’re just on a completely different TTC timezone.

Mine is blissfully unaware of when we actually need to lock in a DTD 😂 He seems to think it’s just whenever he fancies it, which is adorable. Sir, there is a schedule. You haven’t been given access to the dashboard, but please trust that senior management has a plan 🙈😂

Yes! The other day in the fertile window, mine had a toothache so we couldn't DTD and he apparently didn't want to take painkillers. I don't think my face was as silent as I thought 😂

Peedthebed · 15/07/2026 12:35

Can anyone recommend a thermometer? I had one when ttc my first but it felt like it took absolutely forever and I gave up on it after about 3 days. this time round I’ll be trying to lie still in bed whilst watching my toddler trash their room so best for it to be as quick as possible! I don’t want to spend a fortune because I’m still being casual…🫣

wfcats · 15/07/2026 11:24

@CasualOverthinkerit really is a different timezone! Dying laughing at the senior management schedule. Mine clearly doesn't believe me that there are only a few days in the month you can get pregnant, he still subscribes to the 'have sex once and you'll get pregnant and die' lore we were all taught at school. The first month we were sort of trying we had sex on a random day nowhere near ovulation and immediately after he said 'right well here we go again, that's you pregnant' - I think he thinks he has magic sperm after our first was conceived so quickly. How are you dealing with waiting to test? I just checked and I have three Internet cheapies and one clearblue which should be more than enough in theory but..

@Mortimahaha I'm so glad it's not just me, mine was talking about us going camping next year and I had to be like oh yes lovely whilst thinking NOT WITH A NEWBORN! I wish we could be as relaxed as they are - and I also wish they never get to see inside our heads and understand how truly psychotic we are.

Mortima · 15/07/2026 10:50

Absolute...mine is on about us getting matching tattoos this summer...I've made some non-committal noises, thinking mine might have to wait a while!

Is anyone else's partner on a different planet with this stuff? This morning my DH casually mentioned a whole list of things we would need to do before I get pregnant...whereas I'd been using all my willpower not to test as it's only 6DPO Confused
