Anyone else TTC number 2 in their mid-30s and fancy some company? 😊

I’m 35, have a DD who is just about to turn 4, and we’ve just started our first cycle trying for number 2.

I feel like we’d just reached the glorious stage of proper sleep, no nappies, actual conversations and being able to leave the house without half of the house crammed into a changing bag… so naturally I decided what our lives really need is a newborn 😂

I went very Type A when TTC my DD and turned the whole thing into a project - LH strips, BBT, supplements, special lube, the works 🙈 This time I’m trying very hard to be more relaxed and go with the flow. Trying being the operative word 😂

Would love some company from anyone in a similar boat: TTC number 2, mid-30s, slightly excited, slightly questioning their own sanity and trying not to symptom spot at 2DPO 😂

PS. Currently on cycle 1 and my fertile window is just about closing, so now entering the very calm and rational part where I definitely won’t analyse every bodily sensation for the next two weeks 😂🙈

@wfcats cycle twin. How are you getting on with the TWW? Are you testing?

I’m quite discouraged and have basically counted myself out this cycle. My FLO prediction for O seems less and less likely, and so we probably totally miscalculated DTD. Flo predicts my period for Thu next week, but realistically it could be anywhere between Thu and Sun. Ughhh. Such a mind f*ck this!

@Peedthebed this is off topic so feel free to tell me to butt out but is there any reason you don't want to stop breastfeeding? You've done an amazing job to get past 2 years and it sounds like maybe you could do with a bit of a break?

@inkgirl sounds sensible to take the weekend off testing (happy birthday!) And hopefully you get good news next week. It feels like it would be really bad luck to get multiple false positives so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Good luck to everyone testing over the next few days!

Thank you, meant to be having a camera down my throat on monday, so hopefully the line will be more noticeable if I am as won't be able to get it done it I am pregnant. For now I'm going to enjoy my birthday weekend with my boyfriend

Holy fuck, I wasn't ready for this to happen so quickly!

@beeble347 Absolutely! sorry to hear it’s been similar for you. I’ve no judgement on formula mums, I maybe would’ve been more sensible to do the same, but everyone around me says things like oh I didn’t breastfeed, it wasn’t easy for me like it was for you so we had to stop. And I’m there with no sleep, still not able to go away for long without causing a lot of distress, and all sorts of vitamin deficiencies and pains and hormonal imbalances and unable to lose the baby weight even though I’ve got a 2 year old! I don’t feel like I was told any of these things about breastfeeding! Even with ttc all I heard was you might still get pregnant so make sure you’re on bc, but I didn’t think actually it might be a problem and by that point it’s too late and seems impossible to stop.

im going to try stay positive for this cycle though, got my opks lined up, I’ve ran out of pregnancy tests so hoping to wait until 12dpo until I do one, I’m hoping not having any in the house will help me with a little bit of will power. At the very least if I can make it past 7dpo it will be an improvement

sorry you’re having such a difficult time @inkgirl that must be messing with your head a lot

fingers crossed for everyone testing this weekend

Thank you, it really is. Think I'm going to stop testing for a few days and just enjoy my birthday this weekend

@inkgirl Ughhh, I really feel for you 😩 I fear this would genuinely tip me over the edge. Getting both positive and negative results at the same time must be such an emotional rollercoaster. 🥺 When is your period due? Hopefully it’s just a case of things being very early and the tests decide to cooperate over the next day or two. 🤞❤️

It is so frustrating. I hate not knowing or not having clear answers. Between now and monday I believe so not getting my hopes up or at least trying not too.

@inkgirl Ah I'm sorry, that's a head fuck isn't it...do you know what DPO you are?

I'm feeling a bit peculiar this afternoon - tired, bloated, faintly sick, and just a sense of doom/being on edge. Probably just means my period is imminent and I'm being extra sensitive to it this time, but who knows?

Orrrrr 👀👀👀🙏🏼 can’t wait for your test and update tomorrow. I have a good feeling for you girl!!

Not 100% but think im around 11 or 12 dpo only came off the pill begining of the month so not sure

@inkgirl- I must have missed your post! Have everything crossed this is excellent news!

Thank you, i had another faint line on a cheap test but negative on a clearblue, its left me very confused

beeble347 · 17/07/2026 14:53

@Peedthebed that's so tough! It feels like too many things to focus on doesn't it. My little one is definitely holding me hostage with the feeds, how do people stop?!

If you are able and willing to stop though just stop any time you want (if you can!) I just mean don't feel guilty about it at all. I had really low iron and high blood sugar which they thought was from the sleep deprivation in part and I absolutely hear you on the toll it's taken in you

Orchid887 · 17/07/2026 14:04

@Mortima.. no, I can say for sure I am definitely not that person. I'm still fretting about my line strength!

@Peedthebed- I'm sorry lovely, it sounds really tough. I think the only thing you CAN do is try and eat healthy most the time, allow plenty of treats without stress and be kind to yourself!

Orchid887 · 17/07/2026 13:59

Peedthebed · 17/07/2026 13:45

I’m not breastfeeding much but I’m starting to worry that’s why I’m not getting pregnant. Tbh breastfeeding has really taken a toll on my body so I’m not sure if it can’t handle bfing and a pregnancy. I don’t want to stop if I don’t need to but I’m definitely worrying I’m wasting my time trying.
I’m also trying to lose a bit of the baby (toddler!) weight, because that would make me healthier if I do conceive and also maybe it would make it easier to conceive, but again I worry that’s impacting me. Just don’t know what to do for the best, I’m just wracking my brains I think trying to see what I can change now that this is a project my type a self needs to get right!

Mortima · 17/07/2026 13:24

I do love a FRER, will crack them out if I get a positive on am easy@home cheapie, as I find they show progression better. I'm assuming nobody on this thread is going to be the kind of person who can take one test and be content with it😂

Thinking of nice consolation treats is a great idea. Mine would be booze or Botox though, so not sure that helps you!

inkgirl · 17/07/2026 13:15

Mortima · 17/07/2026 12:20

Ooh fingers crossed @inkgirl, keep us posted

@CasualOverthinker @wfcats Oof, the stark white tests do feel personallity insulting don't they! But at max 8DPO you're both definitely still in the game

Will do ☺️

beeble347 · 17/07/2026 13:12

Think I'm 7dpo according to Flo, managing not to test because I don't know where my tests are 😂 I don't have the discipline otherwise

beeble347 · 17/07/2026 13:10

Congratulations everyone with the early lines and BFPs! 🥳

Is anyone thinking of ways they might distract/ console themselves if it's not their month? I was thinking sushi but having been recently diagnosed coeliac it's actually bloody hard to find some without wheat/barley randomly mixed in!

Still breastfeeding rules out some of the other fun things out of bounds when you're pregnant. Maybe some nice unpasteurised cheese?

I remember with my first I accidentally ate goats cheese without thinking about it at about 7 weeks pregnant and called 111 near tears 😂

Orchid887 · 17/07/2026 12:33

Are we all peeing on exceptionally expensive FRER's?
I've had my BFP a few days and still have more arriving today...

Orchid887 · 17/07/2026 12:33

@wfcatsand @CasualOverthinker- they really are an affront aren't they?! I can't remember the site but I was looking at the % of people who get a BFP on each day. Which helped somewhat!

When I tested at the 8dpo equivalent and got a BFN, I was obviously googling and saw a reddit post saying "I tested at 8DPO and hurt my own feelings" 😂

Mortima · 17/07/2026 12:20

Haha @CasualOverthinkerI also tested today at max 8dpo and was shocked and hurt that it was negative, mentally declared myself out etc 🙃 Wishing you self restraint on holding off for the next few days, I know I'll be testing daily from now because I am a clown and a glutton for punishment.

@inkgirlkeeping everything crossed for you, are you going to try a different brand of tests?

I will be yea, going to do a clear blue one in the morning, got one of those early response digital ones I'm going to use. Would be a lovely birthday surprise if I am
