StripySails · 26/06/2008 10:14

Oh, did have a thought. Maybe the definite line so early is because it's twins...

StripySails · 26/06/2008 10:13

Wow, so it's true then.

Congratulations to you and dh. Hope you're happy-astounded rather than panicky-astounded. But even when you want to be pregnant you still get a "shit, what have we done, not sure I really meant it" feeling for quite some time don't you?

Or maybe that was just me. (3 times!)

Off to rl now. I probably won't notice when you out yourself because I always miss those things so congrats again and hope the pregnancy goes well.

oopsyoopssydaisy · 26/06/2008 09:59

morning

well, have done a Clear Blue digital and in under a minute "pregnant" came up!

argh, so that's that then - am astounded really!

am also a regular - will come out at some point! argh!

monkeybumsmum · 26/06/2008 07:05

ps. did you manage to get any sleep?!

monkeybumsmum · 26/06/2008 07:05

Good luck this morning oopsy - will check later to see how you got on!

nappyaddict · 25/06/2008 22:46

oh sorry i didn't realise you had namechanged. erm cat me if you want. unless you live in a very rural location 24 hour supermarkets seem to be within about 5 miles of anywhere.

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 22:34

don't really want to out myself, NA

am going to test again tomorrow morning! will report back then.

nappyaddict · 25/06/2008 22:16

where abouts are you?

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 22:13

none near here, don't think

what do you reckon about the out-of-date-ness?

nappyaddict · 25/06/2008 22:12

24 hour supermarket?

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 22:10

argh, won't be able to sleep tonight!!

monkeybumsmum · 25/06/2008 22:07

I wouldn't pay any attention to the test you just did, and do a new one tomorrow - good luck and let us know. I shall be dying to find out!

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 22:01

this is from the site -

Can I use an expired test? No. The chemicals used in HPT's deteriorate after awhile and no longer function properly. This can cause a totally defective test (no control line), a false positive, or a false negative. Your best bet is to use a newer one!

Hmmmm, so maybe it isn't positive. The result came up at same time as control window, and is a line down over horizontal line to make a cross, know the one?

hmmmm, will have to get test tomorrow

I still can't see it'd be a false pos thoug, personally....

nappyaddict · 25/06/2008 21:58

sorry 6 days past ovulation.

Remotew · 25/06/2008 21:57

Sounds positive to me. Not pregnant is usually no line at all. I got pregnant day 10 of a 28 day cycle with DD.

Hope it's the outcome you want.

nappyaddict · 25/06/2008 21:57

did you read it within the maximum time? it's usally about 10 mins. if you read it after that time any line could be an evaporation line.

monkeybumsmum · 25/06/2008 21:56

Ooohhh just checked that site, and it said not to use expired tests, because the chemicals deteriorate and don't function properly, and can give false positives/negatives, in fact false everythings! So you're actually no better off now having done that test, but probably a little shakier...

Really must go to bed now

StripySails · 25/06/2008 21:55

Probably isn't an evap line if it came up quite quickly, though everyone should remember test is three years out of date. I would say though that you're pregnant. We all know that even if the line is faint then it counts. Hcg only exists if you're pregnant. I would have thought that if age was going to render the test obsolete it would mean it would not pick up hcg ie give a false negative, not vice versa.

Wow, well I hope you're both happy with this result I know you were talking earlier about being shocked or panicky if you got a positive but that you would be pleased. I'm sure you're probably in too much shock to quite be able to formulate how you feel

I need to go to bed now but will check in on the thread tomorrow. Keep us updated. And congratulations again. {grin]

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 21:54

nappyaddict - what is 6dpo?

Monkey - thanks!

monkeybumsmum · 25/06/2008 21:53

Ooohhh it's sounding like it's a +ve... Not completely sure how evaporation lines work, but have a look at this site, it might also be able to tell you how accurate an out of date HPT can be.

I'm afraid I'm off to bed now, but I hope you're okay. I shall try to check back to see how you're doing tomorrow when I'm at work. Hope you manage to get some sleep! I know I didn't whenever I've had +ve tests.....

Night night x

nappyaddict · 25/06/2008 21:53

asda's own brand preg tests are the most senstive you can get and i think you can get a postive 6 dpo.

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 21:48

"evaporation line"?? what is that?

sheeeeeeiiiit. dh is shocked but alm as he isn't sure it's positive

it is a DEFINITE cross though, not single line

StripySails · 25/06/2008 21:45

I believe they reckon generally that false positives are not possible. God, well, did you expect that? Off to the chemist first thing for confirmatory tests? Or even a 24 hour supermarket?

Have you got that adrenaline-fuelled churning stomach? Well, congratulations. What did dh say?

monkeybumsmum · 25/06/2008 21:45

Don't panic!! Could be an evaporation line?? Think your best bet is to stay calm, and get another test tomorrow.

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 21:43

where are you all? help!!
