yeah, see how you get on!! i'm only testing 2 days early because of the date, it'd be nice to get a + on a special date, and if bfn then i'll be fine!!

GYo · 04/07/2008 11:17

Gruffalo

I am wondering if I should wait to test next saturday....rather than Thursday...

Given it really should be FMU and I have to go to work rather early I am not sure I could cope with suspense etc of testing then running for train.... Sat am will be more relaxed.

Also by then if AF is showing up, it will have done so....

Will have to see how my strength of self control goes!

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 11:14

I just couldn't cope with that. I find it easier to wait with hope than test and stress over it if its a BFN or inconclusive!

glaskham · 04/07/2008 11:07

playing thats exactly what i do!! last month i got a couple of faint lines that faded after an hour, but wasn't pg, so i'm just gonna wait as long as humanly possible!! and as an extra measure i haven't put the tests in my bathroom, they are on the shelf next to me, so it means i actually have to take one with me to do a test, which if its FMU to get early test (as i cant physically hold it for 4hrs) then its works in my favour!!

GruffaloSoldier · 04/07/2008 11:07

That is funny Cals yes I should have good aim by the time Thursday comes around!

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 11:04

LOL at target practice. I am glad I waited to test, the line was clear and came up quickly so there was no doubt. Much better than stressing over a test trying to work out if its a line or not!

Diege · 04/07/2008 11:03

Hello! Just a flying visit for me today as I have dd2's sport's day this morning, dd1's this afternoon, then school fair...was releived to see thsat Nadal is scheduled second on this afternoon, so I should be able to squeeze him in .
Will have a catch up properly and post back tonight .
Oh LB, I will try and hunt out my old morning well CD - didn't actully touch my sickness, but then it was a drip job/drugs that time (touch wood you're not that bad) and others swear by it. Happy to pass it on your way; I'll find it first though!

calsworld · 04/07/2008 11:02

Gruffalo - best thing about POAS early is that it means you get some target practice in for the real thing

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 11:02

oh and I tested with 25ml ones and they were fine. Used Tesco own brand and Clear Blue (not the digital) both are 25ml.

glaskham · 04/07/2008 11:02

I actually have 3 tests from Diege... hoping they will be lucky, but i'm really not sure... We GOFed at least once a day from cd8, so we head as much sex as possible but something still tells me we didn't get it.... either way it may just be me feeling all low and moody!!

Its payday today and i'm going to limit myself to £400 spends (inc our food) for the month so i can save lots and lots for our london trip!! so i feel a bit rubbish that i cant go on my usual spending spree over the weekend!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 11:01

I know, I mean if this pg works out I have another 7 1/2 or so left of work but already the enthusiasm is going . Pretty much cos I will be surprised if I go back, dont think they will let me go part time after matty leave and I will not go back full time.

Oh and I of course did another test this morning and it was another BFP. Don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing that line come up!

GruffaloSoldier · 04/07/2008 10:57

cals - I have those 10 hcg ones from access diagnostics too! So cheap

Glaskham - I knew it was early but as I am not sure about my cycle yet I am not particularly confident that I know what I'm doing re ewcm and ovulation so I just thought I'd check

As for symptoms I seem to be cramping an awful lot the last two weeks but I think this is my body just trying to get back to normal after so long on the pill (8 years)!

GYo · 04/07/2008 10:55

Thanks for the info re tests Cals. I will look online later I think.

Also think you are right Glask- will park any symptom spotting for now...

glaskham · 04/07/2008 10:51

god- i'm being very slow today!!

calsworld · 04/07/2008 10:50

Playing - I knew what you meant, I just didn't want you to feel sorry for me .

Can't possibly imagine why you can't concentrate at work ....I can't concentrate and I'm just excited that I might actually have spotted OV for a change!!! I'll be a nightmare when I get my BFP!

glaskham · 04/07/2008 10:47

Oh gruffalo!!! tested way too early there!! but if your not upset by a bfn, then thats not so bad....

I'm not bothered by a bfn, to be honest the longer it takes (within a reasonable timing) the better as it will mean both dcs are that little bit older with each month that passed!!

Well some people will symptom spot from 1dpo, i personally feel anything before 7days must be my imagination!! actually anything before about 14dpo IME has been my head.... with both my 2 i was sick in the night at 14dpo (but unknowingly was pregnant)so to me thats the only sign i got other than missed period, but i wasn't looking for symptoms... i dont know what to look for other than that as i get the same 'symptoms' before AF as is common for pg!!

calsworld · 04/07/2008 10:46

GYo - From what others have said, I'd say First Response is a good reliable one. I only have moderately cheap ones - there are cheaper out there....

I have the ACON Early Detection tests which are supposed to pick up from 10hcmg (or whatever the unit of measure is!) which is the lowest levels that you can get tests for. I use the access diagnostics website and I have a discount code (and I'm a member ). The discount code is available for all in the TTC group and was value5% but I think it may have changed...unfortunately I can't access my home emails from work so can't check the new code - I'll try and remember to post it later. They also sell FR so probably worth comparing prices with supermarkets.

Re symptom spotting - I don't think its ever reliable to start as majority of symptoms are same for AF as early pregnancy...but it is good fun - hence me taking the piss out of myself by 'symptom spotting' at CD21.

Actually, I write down how I feel and any 'symptoms' each month, which has enabled me to rule out pregnancy as each month I now know I get sore boobs, weepy, tired and crampy about a week before AF. I also know that I can have none of these symptoms and still not be pregnant!

GruffaloSoldier · 04/07/2008 10:45

Wow GYo, must be something in the water I will definitely wait now until Thursday. How exciting!

GYo · 04/07/2008 10:43

Hi Gruffalo

Not only are we close in distance I am also 14dpo next thursday.

We can help keep each other sane this week!

Strange!

GYo · 04/07/2008 10:41

Can't think why that is playing!!!

GruffaloSoldier · 04/07/2008 10:41

Morning everyone!

I came of the mini pill and went straight into ttc! (consulted doc and she said I didn't need to wait with mini pill as doesn't affect cycle or immediate pregnancy)so I have no idea when my period is due. I think I ovulated (going by EWCM) last Thursday so I am planning to test next Thursday. (14dpo)Does this sound about right? I don't mind if get BFN because then if get AF will be better for dating future pregnancy etc.

Did test today though (BFN)

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 10:39

Hi Cal, I wasn't apologise for me getiing pg, I am just sad that you're not! In my mind it doesn't seem fair that some people catch quickly and others take forever, I get really day when I read some of the other threads on here with people who have been trying years. Mind you I suppose life just isn't fair, to have an average some people have to cacth quickly others have to take longer. I am also relatively young so I suppose that helps.

No one in our family has a March birthday and it would mean that I get all of spring and summer off on matty leave which is nice.

I'm being very unproductive today (and yesterday), I just can't seem to concentrate!

GYo · 04/07/2008 10:38

Hi Lbox -that does sound confusing!! It could be implantation bleeding maybe?

Regarding short LPs, is there any medical support for that available? to help lengthen it? does anyone know?

Cals/Glaks - re symtom spotting, if its too early from 5dpo, when it is reasonable to start?

Also I know there is always lots of talk re preg tests, but what is the best one to buy?
is it FR? Want to get some for the cupboard that I will only use when I'm definately late (haha- I hear you all shout) but I will try!

Thank you

glaskham · 04/07/2008 10:31

ok cals, just for you i've been very tired the last couple of morning when waking up (at around 8am i may add which is late for me) but i dont think its a 'symptom' i think its because of my illness over the weekend...

and thats good to know re-ovulation.... i really and honestly was panicing!!

calsworld · 04/07/2008 10:27

Playing, I've always been a bit bemused by the whole temping thing, but what you've said makes a lot of sense. I guess that's why you have to weight for three consistent rises, to make sure that its not just an 'attempt' to OV, but the real thing?

Oh Glaskham, you spoil sport - symptom spot, you know you want too .

Was planning a quiet weekend this weekend after several busy ones, but IL's rang last night and agreed with DH they are coming up for the day tomorrow. Hope MIL is not in one of her funny paranoid moods as it does make everything very uncomfortable.
