Hi

Not really sure what I'm looking for here but if nothing else I'll use this as a diary of my feelings etc. I joined a chat years ago for my first pregnancy and am still friends with some of those lovely ladies so hoping to find some people who are on their TTC journey and we can share experiences l.

As the title suggests I'm 42, I have two beautiful children aged 7 and 9, we decided to try for another baby a year or so again, I needed to lose some weight so did that although I'm still overweight according to my BMI but you know how it is... I'm fairly average at a size 14-16. I still have very regular cycles and don't believe I'm anywhere near the menopause yet....

Anyways, I'm 9dpo I think, I don't do opk or anything like that, tried one month but didn't enjoy feeling obsessed over it and it didn't work anyway..I feel I know my body quite well and am aware of the signs of when I'm ovulating if I am. With our first child it took a good 2 years with one chemical pregnancy in that time before.ewe actually got our baby. With our second child...well we thought about trying and then I was pregnant... Amazing how that happens isn't it!?

So here I am, 9dpo and with virtually no discharge at all. 2 days ago I had a huge amount of white cm that was abit stretchy. I've had a headache on and off and been soooo unbelievably emotional. This isn't normal for me but we are going through quite a bit with our youngest and other normal life events so may be that I suppose. I've had sore breasts and I swear they are bigger if that is even possible!.maybe just very slight cramps over the past couple of days but that maybe only.when I'm thinking about it...

Anyone else at this stage and fancy a buddy to compare notes? I'd love to chat.

I hear you on the pamper pack! I usually treat myself to something every month as a consolation prize (!) and it helps to have something to look forward to when AF arrives. But yes, it can quickly get expensive so I think I should choose cheaper treats!
Ah your long weekend sounds great! Hope you have lots of fun. We haven’t got too much planned but some friends are coming over for dinner on Saturday evening and then DS and I are going to stay with my parents for a couple of nights. They don’t live far away but they are in the countryside so it’s nice to get some fresh air and for DS to run around.
Not too much longer to wait until the weekend now :)

TheFutureIs · 29/04/2026 11:36

The Sun shining definitely makes everything a bit easier. I treated myself to a pamper pack from Liberty when my last period arrived. Need to rein that in as that could get expensive 😂
Have you got anything nice planned for the long weekend? DP has his first cricket match of the season and its last footie match of the Championship so me and DD will be going to that. We’ve also booked into our favourite bbq restaurant for Sunday lunch. Working week needs to hurry up and finish!

Sonic85 · 29/04/2026 09:20

Thank you @TheFutureIs . I tested this morning and it was a bfn, which I was expecting. I think I will have a few treats and console myself for the next few days. I think it’s easier to cope with the ups and downs and disappointment when the weather is like this and there’s more to do!

TheFutureIs · 29/04/2026 06:46

Fingers crossed for you @Sonic85

Sonic85 · 28/04/2026 22:50

That’s really lovely @TheFutureIs and he sounds like a really caring person.
I think I’m 11dpo today and I was going to test this morning but couldn’t face it! I’m not sure if I’ll test tomorrow or just wait to see if my period comes. I’m having some cramps, and feeling bloated and like my period is about to start.
How is everyone else getting on?

TheFutureIs · 28/04/2026 08:17

Back onto peeing on ovulation sticks from today. Seeing how my DP is with my DD just makes me know what an amazing dad he will/would be.
We picked her up from the childminder yesterday and she just instinctively holds his hand as they walk along chatting away.
He is currently more of a dad to her than her biological dad is as he’s taken a job that means he is away for months at a time

january1244 · 27/04/2026 16:32

@TheFutureIssorry I missed your update. Ugh and thank goodness for the period pants.

Good luck for everyone testing anytime soon

FiB83 · 27/04/2026 14:57

Hi all, congratulations @FlapJackered on your bfp. I'm apparently now in my fertile week again..these weeks seems to be going so fast lately probably because I feel like every month is one closer to menopause!

It was lovely @january1244, thank you x

TheFutureIs · 23/04/2026 11:48

Period is definitely back. Very glad I went with period pants today as have a pale skirt on
Onwards to next month. Have ordered some lube that is supposed to help the sperm get to where they’re needed

january1244 · 23/04/2026 08:47

@Bumblebee413 did you have a lovely time? I’d say it would just have been about her trying to exert control on the situation, and not anything about you.

@TheFutureIsooh keep us updated!

TheFutureIs · 23/04/2026 07:14

So period arrived for a couple of hours……. Little bit of blood when I wiped but it then disappeared again

TheFutureIs · 22/04/2026 11:06

That’s me out this cycle. Period has finally arrived, along with the nausea/anxiety that it’s caused the last few cycles.
Luckily my day off, but has scuppered my plan of getting to the gym

FlapJackered · 21/04/2026 22:16

Thanks @bumblebee413

That is really tough. I am sure you’re right that it’s all about her sadness and not that she thinks you would do that. I don’t know her situation but the thought of socialising at all when I was in the thick of infertility/miscarriages/failed ivf was the last thing I wanted to do and I ended up pushing away my friends because I couldn’t cope with it all. I am sure it’s just her wanting to have a good weekend with you and your friends, it’s hard to hear though especially as, under normal circumstances, you have a right to celebrate and share that with your friends, and also hearing it from your other friend, so I totally get the hurt.

Bumblebee413 · 21/04/2026 19:54

I’m sorry @january1244. That was a super weird test!

Congratulations @FlapJackered!

I’m hopefully 5 weeks tomorrow. I’m going away with my best friends at the weekend. One ovulated on the same day as me but her IUI was unsuccessful. She asked my other friend to tell me not to announce a pregnancy this weekend. I know this is to protect her heart and that she is deeply sad. But I’m hurt that even a part of her thought I could do that to her. Or that I would. I’m hoping it’s more of a statement of her fear of more pain rather than the sort of person I am. But then again, here I am feeling sorry for myself when I’m lucky enough to (hopefully) have a baby.

Just getting it out here. We’re going to have a lovely weekend and it will be a non issue. Has anyone else got nice plans for the weekend? X

TheFutureIs · 21/04/2026 08:05

Congratulations @FlapJackeredhope it’s a sticky one!
I’m still in limbo waiting for my period. According to the app I’m late, but it’s saying I have 25 day cycles when I usually have 28. So frustrating

FlapJackered · 21/04/2026 05:55

Thank you! Did another test this morning at 11dpo and it’s not dark but still there. 🤞

@january1244 I’m sorry your period arrived. It’s so frustrating when the test is faulty.

january1244 · 20/04/2026 19:48

@FlapJackeredthat’s a good line for 9dpo so keeping my fingers crossed! Congratulations!

Update on my weird test with a line in the wrong spot - my period arrived, so it was definitely a dodgy test

curliegirlie · 20/04/2026 18:07

@FlapJackered oooh congratulations! (And to all the other BFPs on this thread!)

FlapJackered · 20/04/2026 05:56

Thank you! I took a clearblue this morning and it’s very faint, but there. I think I have to try and distract myself now. 😵‍💫

Sonic85 · 19/04/2026 20:34

Congratulations @FlapJackered !! I’m also keeping everything crossed for you! 😊🤞x

DmcinT · 19/04/2026 19:35

@FlapJackered oh congrats 🥳 I am keeping everything crossed for u, that’s a great line!

FlapJackered · 19/04/2026 15:35

Just got this at 9dpo. A bit in disbelief as in 8 years I have only got pregnant twice naturally. They both ended in miscarriage so not feeling celebratory just yet! Keeping fingers crossed though. Just not sure if I should start all the drugs I have for post ivf, like progesterone and clexane etc? I will ring the clinic in the morning so maybe I hold off until then?

Same here tbh I try not to think about it too much as we have two beautiful daughters but every month around 9dpo I think of nothing else, haven't had any testing at all though, did you get tests privately? If you did who did you go with and why? I'm thinking of it

I was fobbed off by the GP earlier this year feeling very unwell and exhausted and all the blood tests were all apparently fine.
I just felt something was off so asked them for the results and the tests had been really limited. Had a private vitamin and thyroid test which found very low ferratin and vit d levels. Which I then took back to the GP who then insisted on doing their own test and finally admitted I was deficient .... I wanted to ensure it was recorded as I have a long term health condition and it all adds to the picture. Now being treated for both and feeling miles better!!

I saw the same company did female hormone and amh and decided to do that and just see how I was doing and if we had any chance really. Indications good all functioning well just now but ovarian reserves obviously not great at my age.

This was with Randox.

Hi all
I'm turning 44 soon. First at 39 and now cycle 2 of trying for another but feel we will need to be very lucky.
Have had hormonal tests (great) and amh (not so great but expected for ages).
10 dpo this morning and nothing on the early test, likely out this cycle.

Think we will try another cycle as the supplements I started in Feb will be more kicking in. After that if no luck then probably will try a clinic for more support and see if they have any advice for us .

Feel like it's occupying so much of my brain!
