had a HSG but they want to take yet another look. at this rate every doc in the UK will be able to draw a map of my fecking reproductive organs from memory!

lissie, just want to wish you luck for tomorrow and some good vibes for good results from the procedure.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/06/2008 21:33

nope. when i had my HSG i was told not to, but i presumed that was because of the dye and xray.

Hulababy · 15/06/2008 21:32

Did you get any info laying out any rules? I can't remember whether I was told to abstain or not.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/06/2008 20:46

lol, when i had my HSG (a year ago, oddly enough) the doc was trying to dislodge a blockage in my left tube. was there for 10 mins and said "theres something in the left fallopian tube that we cant move".

my reply?

"i have no left tube. you removed it 4m ago you tosser"

LOL! I got shown all the before and after shots after both ops - DH was also shown them at the consultant's appointment a few week's later. I really could not figure out what I was looking at. I got to see the adhesions, etc and after they;d gone. Also had the other scan HSG??? and got to see the video as it happened too.

OracleInaCoracle · 13/06/2008 22:11

I think they do that for fun Hulababy, I suspect they could slip in a picture of Postman Pat and you wouldn't notice.

Mine said: look this is a corpus luteum and I was so out of it I was thinking 'does that mean I have a dead light bulb in my ovary?'

mostlyalurker · 13/06/2008 22:05

Hope all goes well. (I'm sure it will)

Hulababy · 13/06/2008 22:03

Yes, I saw photos too. Mind you I was still somewhat out of it (GA had far longer lasting effect on me the second time round last year) when the consulatant went through it all with me.

OracleInaCoracle · 13/06/2008 22:03

lol WMMC, i insist on it now!

OracleInaCoracle · 13/06/2008 22:02

thank you mostlyalurker (great name btw) im just a bit nervous

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 13/06/2008 22:01

Oh and they take photos too - and then insist on showing you them afterwards. Now personally I can live without seeing 'the gories glories of my inner womanhood'

mostlyalurker · 13/06/2008 21:59

i, I work in theatres and a hysteroscopy is a minor procedure. You should be under the anaesthetic for approx 20 mins and home the same day.
The camera is inserted though the cervix to view the lining of the uterus and perhaps remove polyps or take biopsies. There is far less to it than having a laparoscopy

OracleInaCoracle · 13/06/2008 21:58

phew

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 13/06/2008 21:56

Lissielou - a biopsy is standard practice a 'while we're in here' thing they do. They also remove any adhesions and sample any polyps - completely normal.

OracleInaCoracle · 13/06/2008 21:47

thanks. im freaking about it a bit now, but my cons will be doing it and he hinted that he might take a biopsy while there.

I have a thread r two on MN somewhere about the time I had mine (Sep and Oct; possibly titles hysteroscopy or Asherman's Syndrome) if you want more info.

lulumama · 13/06/2008 21:45

hope it goes well and is useful. x
