TTC after second or third trimester loss

MissingMyBaby · 26/11/2025 19:03

Hi, I thought I would start a thread to see if there’s anyone who has had a second or third trimester loss and is TTC or will be in the next few months.

I was pregnant until a few weeks ago where i sadly lost my so wanted baby at 20 weeks. It’s a horrible pain. We’ve decided to wait until April to TTC so that we can grieve our baby and try to heal mentally and physically. It’s difficult as I really just want my current baby, but my body is also aching to have a living child in my arms.

I’ve now had my first period since the loss and i’ve started tracking so i can start to understand my cycle post loss.

Sending you all hugs today 🫂

SparklyGreenTiger · 02/03/2026 10:19

I did say it to the team that were doing my debrief @i123i that the wait had been excessive and added to stresses. I was nice about it, it’s not their fault clearly. They were all apologies but they were supposed to send us follow up notes after the call. Three weeks ago today and nothing. Forgotten about the moment they hung up.

I’m so sorry you’re still waiting. It is so hard.

I’ve asked to speak to a manager and get some assurances about the IVF care going forward as it’s such an unnecessary stress purely driven by poor management decisions and communications.

i123i · 01/03/2026 19:10

@Moosey898- no reason given for the meeting being pushed back again. Just an automatic notification. I know there are other priorities in the NHS but I would just like to get my results! Glad you’re not feeling as anxious as the previous stage, hope it continues to go well.

@SparklyGreenTiger- five months is hard to wait. It will be over 6 months by the time we get ours. Unless they push it back again…!
Glad you get to finish the pill now, but sorry to hear about the consultant switch. It’s definitely something you should have been told in advance. I hope the replacement proves to be a good replacement!

i123i · 01/03/2026 19:07

@Fullofconfusion- I am so sorry for your loss. Heartbreak after heartbreak. I hope you have lots of support around you.

Wishingforwhatshouldhavebeen · 28/02/2026 17:26

@Fullofconfusion I am so, so sorry and I hope you have lots of support around you. Sending love.

Hi ladies, unfortunately this pregnancy didn’t stick. I started bleeding at what should have been 7 weeks but only an empty sac seen on scan so early miscarriage.

This is my 4th loss now, it’s the hardest journey

I'm so sorry 😔 recurrent loss is so hard.

SparklyGreenTiger · 28/02/2026 12:59

Oh I’m so sorry @Fullofconfusion that’s so heartbreaking. Hope you’re getting some support and are taking care of yourself. It’s so hard 💔

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that @i123i. So frustrating. We only had our debrief with the hospital two weeks ago, it took five months and I found that very frustrating.

I have my baseline scan next week. I’ve been on the pill for the past few weeks which has messed with my hormones a bit. Won’t be sorry to finish that tomorrow. We’ve just found out the consultant that we had for our last cycles has moved on and I’m irritated that the clinic didn’t even bother to tell me. She had over 20 years experience and felt like a safe pair of hands. Her replacements have 3-5 years experience so I’m less confident.

Best of luck with the next stage @Moosey898. Will have fingers and toes crossed. I’m glad you’ve gotten through the five days, I found those days the very, very hardest of my entire IVF journey.

Hello, how is everyone doing?
@Fullofconfusion- how is the pregnancy coming along?

@Moosey898- what stage are you at now? Egg collection?

@SparklyGreenTiger- how’s this cycle going for you?

We’ve just had our video appointment to receive the post mortem results delayed for the FOURTH time, to the very end of April. Unbelievable. It was originally supposed to be the beginning of February and they keep pushing it back (all I get is an automated email telling me it’s moved). Very frustrating…..

Oh gosh I'm so sorry that is so frustrating and upsetting. Have they said anything about why?

We've had egg collection and are now one week into waiting for PGT results, which could take up to 6 weeks so I'm just settled in to the waiting! Still anxious but not as bad as I was between EC and day 5 xx

Thanks for checking in @MissingMyBaby how are you as well?

We’ve got our second petals session this week and I completely agree with @i123i it’s really helpful to just have a bit of time that is just focused on talking, we’re both very good at avoiding conversations. It’s also nice to talk to someone who isn’t at all emotionally invested in you so you don’t have to worry about upsetting them.

Sending you both so many good luck wishes @SparklyGreenTiger and @Moosey898, I’m really hoping for successful cycles for you both.

SparklyGreenTiger · 09/02/2026 21:07

Thanks for checking in @MissingMyBaby
Hope everyone is doing as well as you can in the circumstances. Very best of luck to those TTC and those in between.

And very, very best of luck @Moosey898. IVF is hard on so many levels, physically, emotionally etc. I’m sending you so much good luck. I hope you’re getting lots of rest and support throughout.

I’m about to start my fourth full cycle. Three egg collections, two FETs, one living child and my so missed Poppy. I’d go through it all again to get my living child as she’s literally the light of my life though these last few months since I’ve lost Poppy have been the hardest of my life.

Today I took my first contraceptive pill of this cycle, targeting a mid March egg collection and possibly a day 3 transfer. I’ve been warned (repeatedly) that this cycle will be very different to my previous cycles. I am hopeful and remaining positive as much as I can whilst also being realistic about our chances.

Moosey898 · 09/02/2026 20:50

Hey @MissingMyBaby - we're about halfway through stims for my first IVF cycle. It's going ok, I keep spiralling about egg collection getting cancelled or getting rubbish results but for now we just keep on injecting and hope for the best!

i123i · 09/02/2026 20:44

@MissingMyBaby- thanks for checking in. Funnily enough I kept meaning to over the last few days then didn’t get round to it!!

How are you doing? Only another couple of months until you can give TTC your all again.

The Petals sessions have been helping, thanks. We have had 2 now. It’s good to have that time
set aside to just talk, and not keep busy not thinking about it.

We are not actively TTC yet, but we are now more in the “not trying, not preventing” zone… so not targeting fertile days but also not being strict on protection etc. Let’s see what happens over the next couple of months, then we will go into full blown TTC mode I think.

yes please update us @Fullofconfusionand @SparklyGreenTiger- have been thinking of you both.

MissingMyBaby · 09/02/2026 20:02

How is everyone doing?

How are you feeling @Fullofconfusion hope you and baby are doing well?

@SparklyGreenTiger have you started your IVF cycle? Everything crossed for you!

@i123i @Wishingforwhatshouldhavebeen how are you finding the Petals sessions? I hope they’ve been helping.

@SparklyGreenTiger sending you so many positive thoughts for February. The very best of luck. ❤️

Wishingforwhatshouldhavebeen · 19/01/2026 13:05

@i123i I hope that your first petals session went well. We’ve just had our first proper session arranged too for next week. I’d prepared myself for a much longer wait following our assessment session but seems we were lucky and got matched quite quickly.

Gingerseal · 18/01/2026 18:41

@Fullofconfusionwishing you the best of luck for this pregnancy, i can understand your worry but as you say this is a totally different pregnancy to any of the others.

Wishing others luck too with IVF and petals sessions.

Fullofconfusion · 18/01/2026 13:12

Thank you ladies.

@SparklyGreenTigerall the best of luck to you for February.

@i123i My initial loss was June 2024. We fell pregnant again in May 2025 and I had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks (baby had stopped developing more than a month earlier) so we’ve been trying for more than 2 years in total. We did take a break after the TFMR for 6 months to try and let ourselves heal but it just feel like I’ve been pregnant or trying to be pregnant for so long now. This feels totally unbelievable at the moment. I’ve had a chemical before so also stressing over that. I’m hoping it’ll start to sink in soon and I’ll mange to relax but I think that after losses it’s a much rougher ride.
I hope that the petals sessions bring you some comfort. We have another this week.

i123i · 18/01/2026 09:39

Congratulations @Fullofconfusion- I can only imagine how you must be feeling. I hope in the not too distant future you will feel more joy than fear. How long have you been TTC since your loss in June?

I have my first proper Petals session tomorrow. Also doing it with my DH. Glad to hear of your positive experiences @Fullofconfusionand @Gingerseal.

All the best in the lead up to starting IVF in February @SparklyGreenTiger 🙏🏻 , must be a mix of emotions.

MissingMyBaby · 17/01/2026 20:46

This is such lovely news @Fullofconfusion. I agree - it really sucks that pregnancy will never really be the same for us. Literally take each day at a time and try not to think beyond that. Did they say that you’ll have a specific care plan with extra scans etc. or will it be the usual process?

Keeping everything crossed for you, we’re all here to support you.

Will be thinking of you and rooting for you as well @SparklyGreenTiger . All the best.

Wishingforwhatshouldhavebeen · 17/01/2026 20:25

Really gentle congratulations @Fullofconfusion. I can understand you feeling anxious but this is good news! Just try to take it one day at a time.

SparklyGreenTiger · 17/01/2026 19:05

Best of luck @Fullofconfusion, I can’t imagine how nervous you must be feeling but a BFP is a good start and all you can do is take good care of yourself and try to manage your stress. I hope you have someone good to talk to that can help you keep the nerves at bay. Sending you hugs and luck 🍀

We will be doing an IVF cycle in February but it’s been a few years since the last one so who knows how my body will respond this time but all we can do is hope, pray and try.

Fullofconfusion · 17/01/2026 11:49

Hi ladies, how are you all doing?

Quick update from me. I got a BFP 2 days ago at roughly 10dpo. I’m absolutely terrified that it’s all going to go wrong again. I hate that pregnancy should be such a happy thing but that joy has been ripped away from me. I keep repeating to myself that this is a new pregnancy but it’s hard.

I previously had a loss (TFMR) at 22 weeks so until I get past the 20 week scan I think I’m going to be a bundle of nerves.

Sending huge amounts of love and luck to everyone 🤍
