Hi everyone, setting up a new months thread for those of us who already know weโ€™re out for August. Iโ€™m going on to cycle 3. Hope this can continue to be a place where we can chat and support one another.

@SureLook Ah I could cry. I'm so happy for you โค๏ธ yes, my GP said same. It won't stop miscarriage if there's an issue but can help with spotting. I hope the rest goes well for you xx

SureLook · 04/09/2025 18:10

I'm the same as @ForGiddyDreamer I'm following along in the background. I'm hoping for lots of BFPs ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

I had my scan this morning and there's definitely a baby in there this time! Measuring on time, and we saw the little flicker of the heartbeat. I asked about the progesterone, and they prescribed it for me. They said it only helps if bleeding is the cause of losses. It won't help if it's chromosomal or anything like that. I'm still at normal risk of miscarriage like everyone else, so not out of the woods just yet, but it's a bit reassuring, at least!

ChaE05 · 04/09/2025 18:02

@Muddysocks1I'm excited for you! Sending positive vibes your way xx

ForGiddyDreamer · 04/09/2025 17:05

Hi everyone I've been following your updates in the background. Just checking in with @SureLook I've been thinking of you today. I hope all went well with the scan โค๏ธ

@YKM2829 I've had friends who have taken it whilst TTC on the advice of their clinics, usually where there is concern around lining thickness and blood flow. My understanding is that for most people it falls into the 'can't hurt, might help' camp, with the exceptions being if you have known contraindications like bleeding disorders.

YKM2829 · 04/09/2025 16:51

Potentially I'm 3 dpo, according to pre mom, or Ive not even hit my peak yet according to flo. Haven't ov tested this cycle, so who knows, but been using and inputting data into both apps for years now on and off same account, so it pretty much is spot on usually.

I've been doing some research, and I know some people here (definitely in August thread) mentioned about taking low dose/baby aspirin.
I'm thinking of trying it. From what I can tell there isn't much serious in the way of side effects or interactions on the negative side, and it is widely used in many countries, and alot of medical practises have the opinion of its safe so it can't hurt trying when experiencing reccuring loss.
I'd love to obviously get tested to aww if I actually need it, but my doc still has the opinion of they don't even prescribed progestrone in the UK before 12 weeks..... ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„
So figure there's no harm in trying it?
The only thing that isn't clear is that in the US 150mg and alot in the UK is pretty common dose as far as I can tell, but then also 75-81mg is also common...... Some people say the lower dose is ineffective and 150mg has much more effective rate, while others say there generally no need to take 150mg unless you do have a specific need for that specific dose...
I kinda think F it and taking 81mg a day and see what happens. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

@StayingHopefulx I've always found the apps very hit and miss in terms of interpreting the strips - stuff like lighting can throw them off massively, so I've ended up just using my own judgement to rad them. I'd say the second to last one looks close but maybe not quite peak - but if you're only testing once at the start of the day then may be it surged further in the day?

I would definstly say test ovulation multiple times during day. I kept having ovulation pain but faint lines in the morning and missing the fact that I actually generally peak at night time most cycles. And by morning it's already started to drop off. X though for all I know I don't ovulate normal ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

@blackberryhill thank you!! Would you recommend testing twice a day AM/PM for ovulation? Iโ€™m going to take them with a pinch of salt I think and try and use my judgement, think itโ€™s just harder this month as Iโ€™m clueless as to where I am in my cycle.

Once my tests start to darken I switch from once to twice a day (usually morning and late afternoon), but it's tricky as you say when you just aren't sure where you're at! Hopefully you get some clarity soon.

Marvelftw · 04/09/2025 16:26

@blackberryhill Aww amazing news! Congrats! Hope your transfer goes well

amey44 · 04/09/2025 11:00

Tested w fmu and it was a definite bfn๐Ÿ˜ฃ Im CD 29 and my cycles ate usually 33+ days long so I guess i'm not fully out yet but it is disappointing! Iโ€™ve had cramps for the past two days so hopefully this is AF on her way if iโ€™m out:/

Muddysocks1 · 04/09/2025 10:46

I started letrozole last night, so far no bad side effects other than feel quite groggy. I used to occasionally take a nytol sleeping tablet when I wasnโ€™t sleeping well and would feel like this in the morning - slightly drugged! But not unpleasant, and luckily Iโ€™m working from home.

blackberryhill · 04/09/2025 10:08

Thanks! Had my scan this morning and went well - lining is 10.6mm so well over the 7mm minimum they wanted to see (which I'm pleased by because I'm always paranoid about my lining) and one lead follicle of 19mm. The other two follicles were around 12mm so not likely to come to anything - I was slightly disappointed because I'd hoped I might get two follicles so a slightly improved chance, but I definitely don't want multiples so probably for the best.

What did catch me by surprise is that they want to do the IUI tomorrow - I had thought the absolute earliest we would do it would be Saturday. They gave me a trigger shot to take right then (because the one I'd bought was just chilling at home in the fridge ๐Ÿ˜‚) and we're booked in for lunchtime tomorrow!

That all sounds good, good luck!

@DaisyKG Welcome and good luck for testing this weekend! Do you think youโ€™ve had any symptoms?

@blackberryhill Good luck for today, I hope your scan goes well and the follicles are ready. Having unexplained infertility always sounds quite mentally draining ๐Ÿ˜ž But at least youโ€™ve had your son before so you know you can conceive. Fingers crossed for you too.

@LaurLou22 Ditto what everyone else said! If you only just got peak you still have time to catch! Fingers crossed

@FunnySam I think I heard itโ€™s 20% if youโ€™re younger than 35 and then 10% if youโ€™re above 35 but less than 40. Very narrow odds really for everyone when you think about it

@StayingHopefulx Hey welcome! ๐Ÿ˜Š Good luck this month

@StayingHopefulx thank you for your reply! Iโ€™m even more confused from todayโ€™s test as itโ€™s clearly not as dark as the control line and yet the premom says High again ๐Ÿ™„ maybe Iโ€™ve just got a duff batch?

@CDD1992 hey!! I always thought the two lines had to be the same colour for ovulation strips for it to be positive, so I would have taken the last two in the pic as positive and the rest negative! But I could be wrong thatโ€™s always what I thought tho x

CDD1992 · 04/09/2025 07:40

Could I get some advice on my ovulation tests please? Iโ€™m so confused! Iโ€™ve been logging tests since 30th August. I came off my pill a few weeks ago and was expecting a withdrawal bleed pretty quickly. It didnโ€™t happen and then I read that sometimes you can ovulate first and then get a normal period. Anyway, I logged the tests in the easy at home app and even though some looked quite dark, theyโ€™re all reading low. I then put them in the premom app (they are noted on the test label too?) and it says high. Has anyone else had this experience? Pics for reference. Thanks x

@blackberryhillthis ttc journey really has been a journey for you! It's so difficult isn't it. Have they ever suggested progesterone?
Are you tempted by a hycosy again? Seeing as you fell pregnant after that last time. Ugh I sometimes feel like it's a guessing game! Xx

Yes, I've taken progesterone suppositories before (got a private prescription online) - I used them for a couple of cycles but didn't feel they were really doing anything beyond delaying my period (and therefore my next cycle) from starting. I'll be back on the progesterone post-IUI so we'll see if they do anything this time.

I also had a repeat HyCoSy at the end of last year before doing my first letrozole cycle. Part of why I wanted to try IUI was in case part of the reason we conceived last time was because the sperm had an 'easier' path to the egg - probably nonsense but as you say it's such a guessing game!

@blackberryhilloh my word ๐Ÿ˜” 22 cycles! Did it take you long with your first? Wishing you luck with IUI! Had you tried anything previously to this? X

It took us 11 cycles with our first - we had some initial investigations done including a HyCoSy to check my tubes and I conceived the cycle after that. I've done 5 letrozole cycles over the past year but no joy - I've never had a positive test aside from the cycle I conceived my son. We're classed as unexplained - all of my tests are normal, I ovulate regularly, my husband has not great morphology (between 1.5 - 4% in each of the SAs he's had done) but other parameters are good so no-one's ever been concerned about it. Bit of a mystery, but there we are!

If I'm not pregnant by March then we're calling it, so these IUIs are a bit of a last attempt at trying something different to see if it'll get us there - we can't justify the cost of IVF when we already have one happy, healthy child, and I don't have the energy to keep trying indefinitely.
