Awww what a lovely message to wake up to @KTB34 🥹🥹 congratulations. Enjoy every moment with your baby ❤️

Sorry to see your both having such a tough time @MocktailMe & @CharLdn I don’t like to wade in too much now as whilst I can fully appreciate the depths of dispair and heartbreak that is TTC I can’t imagine it’s easy hearing from someone in my position at the moment. But thinking of you both and willing, praying, hoping to see positive tests from you both really soon that progress into your beautiful babies.

Hope things go okay with the scan @Waitingformiracle pregnancy after loss is one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced mentally. The worrying doesn’t stop! It just moves on to the next thing once you overcome one hurdle. When is your scan booked for?

MocktailMe · 02/09/2025 09:14

Ohh @KTB34 well done you! That sounds so quick, you must have been in labour when you were messaging us yesterday! What a special day ahead the first with your son!!

Hope you get to go home soon and get a nap in!

🎉🎉🎉 First birth from the group! Congratulations xxx

I am so happy to wake up to this message @KTB34congratulations!! So glad you are both safe. Hope you can go home soon and get wrapped up in that newborn bubble!! X

lavafield · 02/09/2025 07:47

Congratulations @KTB34 !! Sounds quite something but I am sure it rarely goes exactly according to the birth plan. He is here and safe, and so are you, this is what's most important. Now all the pain is behind. First baby in this lovely group!! ☺️

KTB34 · 02/09/2025 06:36

Ladies he arrived this morning…the worst pain of my life 🤣 I must’ve been in labour all day because I was 10cm by the time I got to the hospital. Admitted onto the delivery suite (not my birth plan) but baby had pooed in his waters so had to go straight there. It was so scary so many people in the room, had to have an episiotomy and they had to put that vacuum thing on his head! But he was born within 17 mins of pushing, clearly he did not want to wait.

Currently being kept in for observations but cannot wait to go home had no sleep at all! X

MocktailMe · 01/09/2025 20:06

Yes - it's to get reassurances and whilst generally speaking that can be mentally unhealthy, in this circumstance given that early pregnancy can be so risky, and it is for a limited time only (12 weeks, God willing) I think personally you should just do whatever you can to get through and stay reassured! I know when I'm lucky enough to be in your shoes I'll be taking all the betas and scans possible. The worry doesn't disappear if you simply ignore it. Hoping you will get to see the heartbeat at your early scan ❤️❤️

OP posts:
Waitingformiracle · 01/09/2025 19:41

@MocktailMeit really does!! I think after loss in particular it’s all about doing everything we can to try and minimise the anxiety in the first weeks. I did private betas and this additional scan because my clinic only gives one beta and one scan and then you “graduate” from the clinic and have to wait weeks for another scan

MocktailMe · 01/09/2025 19:28

Lovely to hear from everyone.

@Waitingformiracle absolutely don't blame you for booking another early one. Every single day of early pregnancy feels a lifetime.

Waitingformiracle · 01/09/2025 18:15

Thanks @Tater05 I will be 6w5d on Thursday so hoping to be able to see a heartbeat. I’m being so ridiculously impatient because I have my official scan with my IVF clinic at 7w3d next week but I just couldn’t wait any longer and there is one of those independent ultrasound places right beside my house. Sorry to hear the exhaustion has taken hold, I hope you can get plenty of rest. I’m sure the hours and days are crawling by until your 12 weeks scan, it’s such a long wait! Such a great sign though to have had a good first scan.

@KTB34 thank you it’s definitely reassuring to hear that you had it too and all was ok. I called my clinic and they seemed completely unphased by it and just said to call back if it becomes heavy which is unhelpful but I suppose reassuring that they weren’t concerned!

KTB34 · 01/09/2025 17:48

@Waitingformiracle I hope everything goes ok with the scan. I had some light bleeding a couple of times during this pregnancy and got checked out both times. By this point I was past a certain week mark which meant I could go straight to the hospital and not have the faff of EPU. Fingers crossed for you xxx

Tater05 · 01/09/2025 17:26

Omg @KTB34 any day now! Looking forward to seeing the update of his arrival and I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible!

@MocktailMe I can’t believe that with the clinic! Well actually I can, you’re right in that anything not a life or death situation they seem to mess up. I’m so grateful we have the NHS but I’ve come to expect these f* ups from them. So frustrating though, it's a good thing you phoned early so I hope they can get the ball rolling again. I still haven’t heard a peep from my referral that they sent off in February so if I hadn’t fallen pregnant I’d be going private now, probably still would if this doesn’t hold. Hopefully you hear from the clinic soon.

@CharLdn I had a few months where I had to ban myself from any research and I never listened to a fertility podcast because I know I would have gone too obsessive. It’s so hard not to, but like you say there are ups and downs. The month leading up to conceiving was by far the worst for me, I was so obsessive and just felt so desperate for something to happen it really dragged me down. That inkling of hope is what keeps us all going.

@Waitingformiracle Sorry the nausea’s been bad but it is a reassuring sign. Fingers crossed for the scan, how many weeks will you be on Thursday?

I'm 9 weeks now, mainly just had food aversions rather than nausea (sorry @Waitingformiracle!) but the exhaustion is hitting hard. I have my first midwife appointment on Friday so hopefully they'll book my 12 week scan after that, then I'll be counting down the days. It was reassuring having the early scan but I hate not knowing what's been going on in there since!

Waitingformiracle · 01/09/2025 14:59

Thanks so much @CharLdn it’s definitely triggering but hopefully as you say this “common” spotting that I keep reading about. I’ll let you all know how I get on at the scan and hopefully all will be well 🙏

CharLdn · 01/09/2025 14:45

@Waitingformiracle nausea is good shows good hsg - re the spotting that must be concerning at an anxious but good you’ve got the scan booked in to get answers 🤞

Everything crossed it’s just very boring pregnancy bleeding - everyone says it’s so common but imagine it’s especially triggering post loss ❤️

KTB34 · 01/09/2025 14:35

@Waitingformiracle thank you 💙

@CharLdn it definitely is, a waiting game now !

Waitingformiracle · 01/09/2025 14:23

@CharLdn I’ve had pretty bad nausea now for the last week. I didn’t have this at all with my first pregnancy so it’s a new experience for me but oddly reassuring. I’m actually off work because we were supposed to be on holidays right now, however our clinic cautioned against it before our first scan so we had to cancel the trip. As it turns out I wouldn’t have been feeling great anyway. I’ve had some brown spotting which has been a bit scary. I also had this early on last time so I’m hoping it’s just something that happens to me but every time I go to the bathroom I’m worried I’ll see more. Going for an early private scan on Thursday so anxiously awaiting that 🤞

CharLdn · 01/09/2025 14:14

Thanks @KTB34 @Waitingformiracle its definitely a long road so doing whatever we need to stay sane is so important ❤️

How are you feeling @Waitingformiracle have your symptoms kicked in?

@KTB34 it must be a whole other ballgame counting down to B day!

@MocktailMe good luck with chasing the clinic - I’m now in waiting mode again before my appointment next Monday but feeling OK mentally this week. Helps not being luteal.

Waitingformiracle · 01/09/2025 13:00

@KTB34 The very best of luck to you and hope you won’t have to wait too much longer. We will be so excited to hear when your baby boy has arrived!

@MocktailMe I hope you hear back from them today and hope you are doing ok this week after challenging week last week. I really find none of this is linear and it’s so up and down.

@CharLdn The boxing ring analogy is so so true. Also totally think sometimes stepping back from all the information and giving yourself a bit of a break from it all does a lot for our mental health. Fertility can become so all consuming and I started to find I was literally spending all of my time on Reddit or looking things up and I wasn’t enjoying my life anymore, sometimes just deleting a few apps off the phone and having a bit of a detox from it all can do a lot. Well done on upping your steps and it’s a great focus and goal to have each day, plus I don’t know about you but I find walking really clears my head especially with some nice music or a (non fertility related) podcast

KTB34 · 01/09/2025 12:25

@MocktailMe it’s a good job that you followed it up! The system is a mess. After our MC I asked to be referred to a gynaecologist for follow up and guess what, that referral is still pending. I’ve managed to grow a whole human in that time 🙄

I’ve been losing my mucus plug since Saturday and had the ‘bloody’ show this morning so I hope it won’t be much longer now x

MocktailMe · 01/09/2025 11:59

Nothing yet, but didn't expect anything over the weekend. Hopefully this week.

Wow, your baby is going to be one of the oldest in his school year by ticking over into September. How amazing, by the end of this week you should have him in your arms.

The first birth from the thread 🧵!!!

@MocktailMe you’re welcome 🥹 have you had any updates from the clinic ?

I am well, I am now overdue by a couple of days. I’ve clearly created too much of a comfy space for him lol

MocktailMe · 01/09/2025 11:04

Thanks so much @KTB34

I really hope everything is going well your end!! Keep us posted the good news really keeps me positive x

KTB34 · 01/09/2025 10:09

Hi @MocktailMe @CharLdn how are you both feeling today?

Been thinking about you both since your last posts! Keep trying to remain positive (easier said than done)! You both have things to look forward to over the coming months. One step closer to getting answers and hopefully meeting your babies 🌈

The internet is rife with so much ‘advice’, it can be very consuming. I try not to watch too many videos etc as you start to question everything.

Keep being persistent!

MocktailMe · 31/08/2025 20:38

I think that's probably for the best you know. I don't consume any fertility media at all (bar this chat!) as I already know everything I need to and probably more and think it just keeps my focus on it too much.

My plan this month is the same as every month - daily CD10-20. What really kills me is that each month I have no idea if there's literally any point whatsoever - I might not be ovulating the correct side so my chance might just be zero.

No ovulation tests etc I don't need them anyway, I can pinpoint my own and I bet you can too at this point!

I did used to feel there were more ups and downs I just feel like ever since losing the last baby and having the surgery that cut my future chances in half I can't find any optimism. The IVF does give me hope though. Til I get that I'll just keep on keeping on!

It's good that getting your steps in and sleep is working. Even on my saddest days I make the time to go outdoors and walk - it really is a lifeline! We are entering the most beautiful time of year (in my opinion!) too so it's a good time to get outdoors.

OP posts:
CharLdn · 31/08/2025 16:27

@MocktailMe it’s rough I’ve definitely lost a lot of my positivity and optimism in this journey.

What has helped me now is knowing how up and down it is when I’m in a down bit I know it will get better and I just need to ride it out.

Last month I felt like I went absolutely full obsessive so this month I’m really trying to look after myself better. Annoyingly my focus on 10,000 steps a day and sleep is making my mood better too.

I think I might also ban myself from research and fertility podcasts as I think I know everything now anyway…

MocktailMe · 29/08/2025 21:46

Thank you so much - I've just saved that to my own phone!

The boxing ring analogy rings so true. It does feel like being in a ring, taking hits.

Sometimes I feel like I've come out of all of this relatively well, that I'm doing well. Then I think about how I've let my world dwindle to such a small handful of people, permanently reduced my hours at work and still feel too tired, how I feel anxious in groups, cities, anywhere busy, how I can't handle sex easily anymore, how I wake up sweating heart racing every single night multiple times, have flashbacks. Etc etc etc. The signs are all there showing how much this has affected me already. I probably do need to be a bit kinder to myself.

Thank you for sharing that note.
