I would love another baby.but was not trying this month.I really really though that day would have been a safe day.How silly was I.but would be very happy if I was pregnant

If you can get pregnant on Day 10, as I did, I'm sure you can do it on Day 18!

sweetkitty · 20/05/2008 20:22

yes mine is upstairs and is nearly 4

(DP was away we had one encounter that month so I know exactly when she was conceived)

Squack · 20/05/2008 20:20

No I really don't do hugs but will in recognition

yesno are you trying to avoid pg?

SweetieDarling · 20/05/2008 20:00

Not at all, my dear lastboxoftampons! Is good to get all the advice everyone has to offer in this ttc malarky! Who knows, your good info may lead directly to a BFP (even my own, I hope!!) (((((Group hug, everybody!)))))

lastboxoftampons · 20/05/2008 19:50

Sweetie {{{{hugs}}}} I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to sound so know-it-all-y!

yesno · 20/05/2008 19:50

I thought that day 18 was the safer side of my cycle

(Creepss back in again briefly) yesno, why do you ask specifically about day 18 - do you have any ov symptoms on that day?

SweetieDarling · 20/05/2008 19:45

(creeps back out of circle of fertility consultants very quietly)

yesno · 20/05/2008 19:43

Yes I do, but have never charted or anything.so I could be pregnant then I though that you had to have really long cycles to ov on that day.

OP posts:
SweetieDarling · 20/05/2008 19:42

I agree - the 14 days is very textbook but it's the average advice given as it falls between days 12 and 16, obviously

Probably best to combine every bit of info ie charting temps etc, until a more personalised pattern emerges?

Good luck!!

lastboxoftampons · 20/05/2008 19:40

Thanks Squack (accepting gold star!)
I know my LP is crap But I did manage to get pregnant and stay pregnant for 11 weeks, so it can be done!

Squack · 20/05/2008 19:37

Hmm

I ovulate on cd 17-18 so it's perfectly feasible to get pregnant (i have 3)

The info lastbox has given is entirely correct

However, O'ing on cd 18 with a 28 day cycle leaves you with a rather short LP of 10days. If it's 30 days then you'd have an LP of 12 which is more preferable.

I think you might be wise to chart for month to confirm when you ovulate and then you can see how long your LP actually is.

If mine was 10 days I think I'd be looking at trying to lengthen it with B vits or a visit to the GP.
Do you have any children?

pootleflump · 20/05/2008 19:33

yes, doesn't mean it'll necessarily be accurate though- I didn't get my bfp until I was 4 days late.

lastboxoftampons · 20/05/2008 19:32

crossed posts with Coggy!
But to offer another way to pinpoint ovulation - you can take chart your temperature, which you take every morning at the same time before getting out of bed. It will tell you when you ovulate, but only after you have.

yesno · 20/05/2008 19:30

ok, so can you still test on your due on date??

OP posts:
lastboxoftampons · 20/05/2008 19:29

I have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 18. It's very possible to get pregnant on day 18 or even later.

Sorry, but sweetiedarling is incorrect. In a textbook cycle, you would ovulate 14 days before your period arrives, but in actuality the luteal phase (the time from O to period) can be any length, with the most popular being between 12 and 16 days. Anything less than 10 days can indicate a hormonal problem and should be checked out. While the amount of time between your period and when you O can fluctuate due to all sorts of factors including stress, illness and travel, your LP remains pretty constant.

Good luck.

pootleflump · 20/05/2008 19:29

yes, very regular 28-30 day cycle here.

yesno · 20/05/2008 19:27

Oh Really

coggy · 20/05/2008 19:27

It is not necessarily true that you OV 14 days before AF. Many Gps think this is the case but there are plenty of MNers who can prove otherwise!
I generally OV on CD18 - 20 of a 26 - 28 day cycle...I've got an incredibly short time between OV and AF which may (or may not) be a problem with TTC.

The best thing to do is begin using OPK until you get confident of your own body's patterns - I now cannot stop knowing when I OV which is really annoying when you are trying to NOT think about TTC!
I am sat here at the moment typing with painful OV cramps....something I never used to notice until I became aware of all this and now wish I could forget!!!!!

HTH.

Pollyanna · 20/05/2008 19:24

(and i had a 25 day cycle )
