calling old duffers or old up the duffers

By popular request (2 votes actually!) this is a thread for old duffers like me who are over the hill and TTC and for anyone who is old and up the duff ! I didn't suggest these terms so please don't get offended if you don't see yourself as a duffer but would like moral support , chat etc...
I am 38 years younh, have ds - 3.8 and have been TTC for 7 months ---aaaarggg!!!

COngrats Marinda - wonderful news - really happy for you.

My DS born late 2003 and I was given Emmas Diary -not the Expecting book so was obviously behind the times!

PS; Still have Emma's Diary. Any other duffers who STILL have this or remember it ?

Is "What to expect when expecting" better than Emma's Diary ? Yes I think it WAS written in the 1970's- the woman in it was not very modern. I remember it started with "I must be pg I'm 2 week late ...... Going to DR Green such a nice Doctor!

yup - do you think it was written in the seventies? Was rapidly replaced with "What to expect when expecting"

yes it it 12 weeks for first scan - but my gp said some hospitals have a bit of competition to get into so to avoid disappointment book yourself in early.

Correct me if I am wrong but is the first scan at 12 weeks ? An't remember 3.8 years ago (blo""" hell thenks makes me seem old !!!). Just can't face going to docs yet. Last time when pg for first time, I went in, confessed and got given "Emma's Diary" to read. Anyone else had this !!!!!!!!!!!!

marinda - i went to the doc. at 4.5 weeks - cause i wanted to make sure i got the earliest possible first scan with hospital i wanted. frankly not sure if it makes any difference cause they do it on your dates anyway, but living in London i thought there could be a waiting list.

I am STILL off chocolate - is making me feel better physically but doing no good
to my mental health. I've still got this nausea bug that I've had on and off
since December - like having morning sickness all the time, as it's much worse
first thing and when tired - be warned, those of you who may be interpreting
nausea as a symptom!

Congratulations Marinda to you and DH! Fab news, well done you clever thing!!!

I went to the doc's bang on day af was due last time, was just so excited I had to go and tell someone! However, this time, if we are lucky again, I plan to wait until about 7-8 weeks.

Well done again, great news!!!

Can't believe it !!!! Had a gnae appointment booked on 24th feb as well. Feel so nervous may have to go and buy another test just in case first one is incorrect. My sickness is just about easing off. Decided not to bother with DR for a month or so. What did you other do ?? Did you go to DR straight away or wait a while ??? The wierdest rhing about me being pg is that I did not get the two lines on the OPK - just a very faint one so assumed I has not ovulated. BUT idid BD alot more this month about a week before, during and a week after my fertile period. To anyone TTC I hope this helps. Before I waited till 2 lines on OPK then BD several times, at least onve every other day but nowhere near as much as I did last month. Anyway enough of that - must go and get myself fed !!!

Well Delgirl, that's what I said--my DS was born in April 2001 when I was 39. Now I'm expecting my second baby who was conceived as soon as we started trying for one.

Hi Delgirl and welcome ! Hope you can share advive thoughts etc.. with us. Off to buy a Bots own brand or digital tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks ladies for your continuing support - sickness going off a bit - but very odd cramps - bit like having a butterfly in my stomach !!!! I know , I know get on with it I will !!!!!!

There's been a lot of good reports for ClearBlue and Boots own brand. Fingers crossed....

I have always found clear blue and first response to be reliable and simple to use (and believe me, I have tried every test going several times)! Have to say I didn't think much of Tesco's own test - had 2 positives with clear blue yet Tesco showed negative. Surpising, as I find most Tesco products to be of high quality. Fingers crossed, good luck!

Might be a god idea Bellalasagne - because they need to be tested right away. Think i'll test on Thursday - but maybe only last out till wednesday. Had sickness this morning ans it has lasted all morning just about going off - no sign of AF.
Any advice on best test to do ?
