Vasectomy reversal success??

hi kellykate, our stories sound really similar ! My hubby had the reversal at age 27 and two years on we are both regretting the decision. We are also going through the whole do we keep it secret thing aswell as we don't want the ' are you pregnant yet ??' question every time there is a family get together. Don't know how we'll get round the time off he'll need to take to recover though and also I HATE lying to my parents as I tell them everything and I'm useless at keeping secrets !!!

Not up to much really today. I work from home so I've got it easy to be honest. Although, ironically I sell maternity wear clothing !!!!!

There are tonnes of school hours jobs near me - i was actually just looking on the local authority web site today! Pity you dont live near me!

Like you say, I dont think its worth getting out of bed for that kind of money!

We only told a select few people at first but you just end up telling all and sundry in the end as you get excited and carried away....then people start asking if you are going to have anymore and it slips out....you get the picture

Well girls I have took delivery of my hypnoconception CD today! I am going all new age on your asses!! I figured I may as well give it a bash this month as we wont be able to TTC next month with my scan being booked in for between days 7-13 of my cycle! Wish me luck!

What are the rest of you up to? Anything exciting? I managed to persuade DH to do the jiggy this morning at 5am before we both had to get up for work! I am knackered now LOL

ive been reading this thread with interest cos last night my other half finally agreed to look into a reversal
Ive regreted him getting it done from about a week after the op. He had it done when he was 29, 2 years ago and dc3 was only 3 months old, he got a cancellation so op was done within a couple of weeks.
Hes got an appointment at gps on Thursday to get a referral to the consultant. We are hoping to get it done at the Murrayfield Bupa hospital in Edinburgh (we live near it).
Did any of you tell other people getting the reversal or did you keep it to yourselves. We arent going to tell people as I dont want the constant questionning that i know our families would do.

I'm exactly the same terrier, you used to be able to set your watch by me and now i seem to be getting longer and longer cycles
The only thing with me is I have my little brother living with me (aged 23) and three other kids, we haven't had sex for weeks lol
I have everything crossed for us all, hopefully not long to go now !!!

I think he is being quite good, he's spoken to this consultant who again didn't have his diary so Dh has to wait until Tuesday now, but he goes seem to be doing all he can.
I shall be phoning on Tuesday myself though to make sure.
I keep rabbiting on about it but there's lots happened in the last few days, DH got a pay rise which makes everything a lot easier, I saw little Archie which has made me sooooo broody and I've been clearing out the garage and streamlining my pram collection again it baby baby baby and I want one now

Hi all, hubby has got docs appointment on Wed for a referral to the hospital. We have been told as soon as he gets this, the consultant will see him within 7 days and he can have the op within 2 weeks so really feel like we're getting somewhere now. Both really excited so will keep you posted xx

Have you decided on a surgeon? If so ask him if he wants you to book it?

Not going great really, he's supposed to be calling to get himself on the list but something keeps coming up :-(
Once i feel I can see progress i'll start getting excited in the meantime everyone is pregnant

Hey Ladies - how are we all today? I am booked in for a HYCOSY scan on the 1st day of my next cycle - am a bit scared as I've heard it can be uncomfortable but at least its forward progression but it does mean no BDing for that month which will be weird!

Terrier - did af get you or do you have some good news

Have to start gearing up for the next round of BDing thought now wont you I am cd8 or 9 (Ithink! need to check FF)so am starting BDing on day 12 (as I ov'd on day 17 last cycle)

Am going to see them at the weekend to see if that swings me one way or the other, I'm still dithering

Hi terrier, gutted about your test. Any chance it could be too early to detect the preg hormone ? Only saying this cos with first baby, I got 3 negs and 2 positives at the start. Keep trying !! Just got back from the docs and had some great news. I am safe to carry but will just need my own consultant aswell as mdwife and constant check ups, scans etc. The only thing is I must have a c-section and a vag birth is a DEFINATE NO NO !!! but don't want to get ahead of myself as hubbys not booked in for reversal yet !! Really pleased though with the outcome today x

LOL Terrier! I thought it was just me addicted to the little buggers (tests!)

Linz - I read some research before embarking but still naively assumed it wouldn't apply to me and that I would get pregnant straight away! That and the fact my doctor kept telling us his sperm tests results were all "normal" (they sooooo were not normal!)

Its a weird journey I feel, and one thats not well understood by people in other situations. The best of luck with your docs appointment. Keep posting and we'll keep rambling on and together we can support each other in some ramshackle fashion!

hi, thanks all for welcoming me to the group. Must admit, I feel really naive after reading all your posts at my attitude to the reversal. Thought it would just be a case of operation and then pregnancy and now after reading the facts, I'm discovering it'll prob take a year at least, if it ever happens at all !!!! Am certain its the right decision though and just crossing my fingers now that the doc will say I'm safe to carry again. xx

You're def right there Katie - this is the most unpleasant club to be a member of IYSWIM!

I judged mine on distance/price/ microsurgery - it wasnt the cheapest but they did microsurgery (which was a must for me after researching the issue) and it was relatively close. I think there is less of a waiting time in the North of England than the south too - I am guessing you are down south Katie?
