Does anyone have experience of this? Hubby has just had it done and we are nervously awaiting the outcome!

I agree - this is the best place to share the whole experience cos we are all in the same boat. I feel like I can ask all my ridiculous questions - and share my stupidity over symptom spotting, early testing and looking at baby stuff without being judged! Cant talk to dh about that stuff cos he doesnt want me to be so obsessed, incase it doesnt work out and I end up upset! (hes not very realistic - how can you not become obsessed!!)
Anyway - in line with all this - I will admit to you all my complete stupidity for today - I have just tested (9dpo)and of course got a BFN! Will I never learn!!

Oh and pinkmook - you must be feeling a bit more positive - you have predicted that we will all have babies to meet up with - I like that picture! xx

thanks terrier I really appreciate it. Even though I've never met any of you in rl you're the only people who even half way understand...thats what it feels like anyway

Lets hopw we all get what we want soon! If we do I reckon we should have a big meet up with our babies...imagine that!

The hospital sounds v posho. Like you say though - get your money's worth! I'd be sticking cakes/snacks/sandwiches in a bag and bringing as much free stuff home as poss

Booked my HYCoSy scan today...16th July eek scared!

My dh was also strapped up in a ridiculous looking garment - its not pretty!! Be prepared - he will expect lots of tlc!!

hi, yes he's got to stay in overnight because the op isn't until 5 p.m. He said he's making the most of the price by getting his moneys worth being pampered by the staff. This hospital is sooooo posh !!! When we were in the waiting room, a nurse bustled through with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and crisps to "snack on whilst you are waiting" !

Feel really guilty tho, cos I won't be able to visit him after the op as if I bring in DD, she will tell everybody she went to visit daddy in hospital etc. Is that very mean of me ??

Looking forward to the purple plucked chicken look, pink lol.... especially encased in some ropey undies. Don't know I'll be able to resist

Linz - my Dh was told to shave, and like terrier, to bring tightish undies to hold it all snugly afterwards! It looked like a huge purple plucked chicken afterwards

Is he staying over night?

pinkmook - sorry af turned up - gutted for you - good news about the longer leutal phase though and great that you can now book your scan - get things moving a bit. Sounds like you are having a shit time in work too - why does it all come at once?? No wonder the last place you want to be is on here.
Yes Im on the dreaded 2ww now - and up to my usual symptom spotting!!

Welshlinz - my dh wasnt told to shave - but did it anyway just cos he wanted to (not much help there really!). He was advised to wear snug (but not too tight) fitting pants for at least 2 weeks afterwards.
Getting excited for you now!!

hi all, sorry to hear about your problems at work, pink..I remember the feeling of wanting to bury my head in the sand and dreading going in. ( hated the people I worked with in my last place !! )

Hope everyone is ok. Just wanted a bt of advice on what my DH should pack for his stay in the hospital on Friday ? Hasn't been told anything in the letter they've sent, just when to turn up basically. He was curious on whether he's expected to shave ( as he was told to do this before vas op ), and also does he need to take tight fitting underpants etc ???
Any help would be most appreciated x

Hi Terrier - I have been avoiding coming on here so much as I was getting obsessed/down again. AF arrived this morning the only good thing about that is that I can now ring and book my scan thing and it also seems like I have managed to lengthen my Luteal Phase to 12 days so thats goos I suppose.

Have an absolutely terrible week at work ahead of me as some things have come to a head with colleagues. Just want to bury my head in the sand really

Any way, sorry for moaning on - how are you? On the 2WW? Fingers crossed for you

Put it this way I have noticed feeling sick around this time ever since we started ttc!! Probably always have but not taken any notice! im tending to imagine every symptom in the book every cycle - so not holding out too much hope just based on that - will just wait and see!

terrier, do you always get these symptoms after ov or is this the first time ? Fingers and everything crossed for you !!!
You're right in the theory of the increased sperm count after 6 months as this was the time scale we were given by doc. He said there should be a much higher percentage of sperm there by 6 months if it's worked so that may be a good time to get tested ( although hopefully you won't need to )

Forgot to say though welshlinz - I am the same with the symptoms - have been feeling sick since ov (4dpo now!)- but seems normal - or could it be??! the 2ww is a nightmare!

Think my consultant is just a money grabber . We have discussed having the tests done at 6 months if nothing has happened - tbh I'm really just putting it off because I'd be devasted if it was bad news! I know i could be wasting 6 months of getting my hopes up for nothing - but am just too scared to find out! Silly really! My theory is that the sperm count might have improved to a more hopeful level after 6 months than it would have been at 1mth and 2mths (when they wanted us to have the £40 tests!)and I wont find the news so devasting! I could be completely wrong and there might be nothing there at all!!

terrier, thanks for that. Only been on fertility friend once or twice to try and work out what day they thought I should ovulate to what I thought and I guessed 1 day later than them so must be on track with my cycle.
My biggest problem is going to be dealing with false pregnancy symptoms because as soon as I ovulate I get major sore breasts and feel sick until my period arrives which is what I would normally get my hopes up for if I was ttc. Never mind
I forgot to mention the other day, the consultant said that we get 2 free sperm tests done by the private hospital in with the price. He has one at 6 weeks and then another in 12 weeks. The doc said they include them in the price so patients bother to go back and the hospital can get a really strong idea of success ratings for the op, which thinking about it, I'm really suprised your hospital didn't do, terrier. Have you thought any more about having the test done yet ?

katiedd- glad things are a little calmer with you - hopefully your dh will start to understand how much this means to you now.

welshlinz - dpo is "days past ovulation". they use it on Fertility Friend as well so you'll see it a lot when your chart takes off.

pinkmook - any signs of af?

HAve calmed down now, but still no appointment.
DH is doing this for me, not because he wants to, he says he is a bit excited but mainly terrified lol

If I'm honest I don't think it's going to be that easy and after joining this thread I think it's helped me be a lot more realistic with how long it's going to take etc..

The doc more or less said that at first there's going to be very little happening down there and so waiting was definately likely. I have prepared myself as much as I can and we've got loads of other things to keep focused on like re-decorating and stuff and puppy Holly.

terrier, sorry for being really daft but 3dpo ? Does that mean possible ovulation days ?? Got to get more clued up on this speak lol

God I think we've all been given different advice on how long to wait afterwards! We were told 2 weeks, which (like you!) was exactly when I was due to ovulate - and I too convinced myself we would catch 1st time! Didnt work for us (although we tried hard!!), but fingers crossed for you!! We are on 3rd cycle of ttc now (3dpo at the mo!)and Im using Persona and Fertility Friend - am truly obsessed!! I keep trying to stay realistic but I swing between being really overly optimistic to thoroughly miserable about the whole thing - prepare yourself for this emotional rollacoaster!!

thats a really good idea. Because he's managed to get a cancellation spot, it's going to fall dead on when we have th new puppy aswell lol so we'll certainly have our hands full.

I'm getting really excited now about it. Went on fertilty friend that pink mentioned and typed in my period times etc and they hav estimated my fertile time 2 weeks after the op so I've told him he's got to be better by then. I know that's being a bit unrealistic to catch straight away but got to try !! The doc said 6 weeks before trying so he can go in for his test results first but who's to no

Just make sure your dd is very gentle when she cuddles her daddy! We told everyone that my dh was off work for a week because he had injured his abdomen in work!

hiya, I think we'll try and keep it under wraps. As it happens to fall on hubbys last day in work for a month ( very convenient ) as he's switching jobs, I may get round him not being there for the night by saying they have all gone on the lash and are staying over somewhere. Then the following morning when I go to collect him, my DD has a b'day party so may pick him up on the way back. Wouldn't be so bad if I was a convincing liar but am hopeless !! The hardest thing will be trying to convince DD that everything is normal. She may only be 5 but she's like miss marple at discovering secrets lol

welshlinz - fantastic news!! I guess its a personal decision whether or not to tell people the truth - I am all for it but dh is dead against. Problems start when I have to much to drink and tell anyone who'll listen! So some people know and some dont! It makes life easier if they know cos theres no sneaking about - but I guess it could be hard if people keep constantly asking " any news yet?" - puts extra pressure on!

katiedd - whats going on with your dh?? I really hope you can talk it through xx
