Vasectomy reversal success??

Hi Girls - Yes scan was today - went fine, tubes all open, no cysts on ovaries, the sonographer said the consultant would discuss the results further with me but there did not appear to be any "structural" problems. It hurt a bit, and i cramped and bled a bit after (still bleeding now) but it was like medium period pains with a couple of sharp ones when they did it.

There may be hormonal issues but nothing major hopefully.

Linz - yes DH was totally black after op - I actually have photos that I wish I could post just to reassure you! His willy was completely black and he was even bruised right up his stomach where they had messed with the tubes as well as totally black and massively swollen balls that went through several colour changes from black to purple, to red etc etc over the following weeks!!!

Linz - its hard when people announce PG's - it feels like EVERYONE is PG at the moment to me. I had to sit in the antenatal bit for my scan app this morn, RIGHT NEXT to the scan machine where people went to collect there scan photos after their baby scans watching all those happy PG couples was a bit miserable but hopefully it will be us soon!

When does your DH have his first semen anlysis? xxx

hi, DH is ok but really bruised and swollen. Were either of your hubbys completely black down there as we are wondering if he has internal bleeding !!

The dog is fine terrier, she's so cute Thats great news that you're getting a new one too. we looked into both puppy and rescue but couldn't find any female springers in the rescue homes so ended up getting the pup instead. She's really well behaved so can't grumble.

terrier, I was disappointed with the reactions I got when we told but I kind of knew my parents would react like that until they got used to the idea. They are just petrified of the birth part but I've had chance to explain the c-section and precautions the docs will be taking now so they are coming round slowly. DHs parents were happy so we'll just wait and see now if anything happens.

hi, yes DH is back home now in his fetching support strap. Feel so sorry for him as he's completely black all over down there ( including his little man ). Just sleeping all the time so I'm bored at the mo x

Sharkey, great to hear your story. Hopefully we can all add to the list of successes aswell.

Consultant went to see him this morning and said he had to cut quite a bit up from where he anticipated to find the action but joined together fine and he was very happy with the outcome.

Mum and dad have just been to visit and we were feebly lying about him having a bad back so in the end DH just came out and told them the truth. Weren't that happy really which has shocked me but I suppose it was a shock and they are just worried after the horror story of DDs birth lol

just wondered, is it true that you can eat certain foods to predict the sex of your baby? we would love a girl!!! anyone got any views on it?

just some words of support, my fiance had a reversal in june 2006 after 7 years and he was 36 years old at the time. we had a consultation beforehand and were told that even if the op was a success, because of my age (i was 36 aswell) that we may still have trouble conceiving. we gave birth to a beautiful son last so as far as we are concerned NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!!!!!!

just an update. The hospital have rang to say he's comfortable but still really groggy after the anaesthetic. Feel a lot better now as she said the op was really successful with no complications xx

hi girls, i'm soooooo worried right now. Left DH in the hospital at 4.40 as DD was desperate to leave and didn't want to make her suspect anything. He was due down to theatre at 5pm and the nurse said she'd ring as soon as he was out. It's now 7.23 and still no word and I'm getting stressed out. Really wish I'd stayed with him now so I could be there when he comes round. At least I'd be kept updated what was happening !!!!

terrier, I think you're right about prob leaving ttc this month. I don't feel a mad rush at the mo to get started which is strange as I thought I would but i'm happy to leave it till next month I think to make sure he's fully recovered. Mind you, easy to say now but prob when I know I'm ovulating I'll be pestering

terrier - all I know is the closer to 14 days your LP is the better. You seem to have pretty regular cycles so I wouldn't think there was anything to worry about TBH.

hi, slept great last night actually terrier lol. I had a bath in epsom salts before bed cos its a natural sedative for the body so helps me sleep ( otherwise I'd be up all nite worrying ! ) Puppy slept through which was great. Woke at 6 to have a whine but went back off ( puppy i mean, not me )

Clock watching now. DH won't get out of the bloody bath and he's not even packed his overnight bag yet !! He's always like this whereas I'm ultra organised so I have to bite my lip sometimes.

terrier, you say you've only started noticing this sharp pain recently, could that be because you're more aware of your cycle etc since starting ttc ? I no I've noticed loads more pains etc since charting my cycle. Do you have any other symptoms of PCOS aswell ?

btw AF has arrived this morning 2 days early so must be on a 26 day cycle and not 28 as I first thought !

thanks pink, i'm excited too !! Puppy has arrived and she's tiny. Started howling when we put her in her pen but she's calmed down now she's with the other one and they've both gone to sleep thank god!

Anyway, onto the PCOS pink, I was diagnosed with that before my daughter. In fact I was due to go for a scan on my ovaries the morning I discovered I was pregnant ! If you are a sufferer, you tend to get a really sharp stitch pain around that area ( or at least I did ). It used to literally floor me at certain times of my cycle. When I got pregnant the cysts went and the doc said the hormones can actually cure mild cases so I think thats what happened with me. I have noticed though the last couple of years the pain is creeping back so I'm worried the cysts have returned. I have heard that can cause problems when trying to conceive but I have 3 friends with it and they have all caught eventually so fingers crossed x

Anyway, must go. Time for bed but mind is racing about tomorrow lol Hubby still hasn't bought his undercrackers btw

Terrier, No I had no idea there were issues with me until we started TTC. I had continued to take the pill even after DH op as I took Dianette then yasmin both which help if you have acne (which I used to get). I am now thinking I may have mildish (is that even a word :-) ) PCOS as acne is a sign of this and just never knew - DS was concieved when I was 25 so still in the highly fertile bracket and so it probably didnt have that much of an effect on me at that time - fast forward 7 years and maybe that mild PCOS is more of an issue combined with age?? I guess I will find out through the fertility investigations I am having.

The first few months after I stopped the pill I had 31 day cycles and thought everything was hunky dory, then I had a 28 day one then a 23 day one then a whopping 56 dayer (good god my head was in bits for that two mnths I can tell you!) then I have had a 28 day one (with a 13 day LP) then a 35 dayer (with a 14 LP) and I am now on CD3 of a new cycle - I started taking Vit B6 and 12 after the 23 day cycle as that only had a 6 day LP so did some research and read vit B deficiencies can cause short LP. So now I am unsure if I have managed to lengthen my LP with B vits or more negatively, I have not been ovulating and the temp changes are just temp changes so the LP is not the LP IYSWIM !!!

How do I stay sane?? LOL I dont! I always go through a really miserable down period just before af and for about a week after. Then that little survival instinct kicks in and you think - "oh well, it could be this month, you've got to be in it to win it" etc etc and that little tiny grain of hope buoys you up again! Have you not noticed how I disappear then post a plaintive little whinge every time af due! LOL

Like Professor Robert Winston says - infertility causes as much pain and anguish as cancer.

On a more positive note Linz I am dead excited for you!!

so with regards your AFs. What length are your cycles ? I'm 28 days normally which means I am due on Saturday which gives him 2 weeks recovery time before we need to get on the wagon with our first attempt !!

Terrier, really sorry you're feeling down today, believe me I have been there! Don't get too down, could it be implantation spotting??

Remember even if its not your month it takes on average 12 months. But I know this will not make you feel too much better (been there too)right now but it will settle into your brain a little (like it has mine - of a fashion!!) and make things feel a bit less hopeless if you try and keep it in mind - that's what I am trying to tell myself. It will be 12 months for us soon!

Dont get too despondent, at least you dont have any major probs with you/your cycle so you are only really dealing with DH (and you dont know there is even an issue with DH yet)

Chin up, we can all get through this together - and remember its n ot over til AF arrives!

I am not looking forward to this 2ww thing each month as it sounds like a nightmare ! As I have said before, after ovulation I have all the classic preg symptoms so I just no I'm going to convince myself every month it's happened ! Am due my AF on 11th ( according to fertility friend ) and I feel really sick and my boobs are so so SORE !! The only good thing is they increase by a cup size so actually have a bit of something there for a change , although they are too sore for DH to go anywhere them so pointless after all
