Does anyone have experience of this? Hubby has just had it done and we are nervously awaiting the outcome!

hi, i'm on facebook. are you in the mumsnet group on there ??

pink, wondering if you can help me as I know you are knowledgeable on sperm analysis

Dh has had his results through and all the consultant has told us is there is 0.5 million per ml. He says the mobility is quite poor but will improve with time.

After looking into it a bit it seems like we won't have much chance with this volume present but wondered if you knew any more ??

terrier141 · 08/09/2008 08:14

I'd like to do that - how would we go about it though without compromising identities? Not sure anyone else reads this thread anyway though!

Hi all, hope you are all well x

On the subject of test results DH has just rang up for his and there IS sperm present !!! but.... we will have to wait till we get the letter for the actual percentages etc. The receptionist said because it was taken only a month after the op they are quite sluggish still but the more we practise the better they will become.

Am feeling really happy now that I know there is something there. Was so down about everything these last few days.

pinkmook · 03/09/2008 08:47

Hi terrier - they said 3 weeks but it has to go to a bigger hospital from the one where he handed it in (I guess they must freeze it or something??) so I am not sure. We are not due to see the consultant now til November after him canceling on us so DH may just ring up the gynae/obs dept in 3 weeks and ask for the results over the phone.

terrier141 · 02/09/2008 20:43

Aww bless him! How long will the results take to come back?

OP posts:
pinkmook · 02/09/2008 19:41

also - DH had to go to the hosp to give another sperm sample today for more detailed analysis. He cycled from work after lunch and got totally pissed wet through. Then he had to find a toilet to ahem, produce his deposit (as we live so far away from the hosp its difficult for us to get there in the 1hr time limit) so off goes dh into the toilets, only they were really busy and poor dh really struggled to produce the goods! I am laughing as I type this and so was dh when I rang him to ask how it went from work but I bet it was awful!

Gawd almighty you cant imagine when you first get the reversal you will end up doing stuff like this!

pinkmook · 02/09/2008 19:25

Bad luck terrier I am on 8dpo so still waiting but dont reckon it'll be my month either - it never is!

terrier141 · 02/09/2008 18:01

Im out too girls - af arrived today .

shm - no these people do not work - she never has and he keeps packing in his job each time the CSA write to him! Bloody wastes of space - but very well suited to each other!

OP posts:
pinkmook · 01/09/2008 17:14

Hi girls - Terrier - that is unbelievable. I hope you told them where to go...but I bet you didn't cause then you'd worry about your DC's missing out oooh I am so angry for you.

Linz - aw no Linz gutted for you. ts so horrible when another month goes by with disappointment. Totally know where you are coming from. Unfortunately being stressed is an occupational hazard of TTC for any length of time! So dont beat yourself up about feeling obsessive. I reached a natural plateau of stressy -ness! There's only so much obsessing you can do before your brain shuts it down (although I do admit it does build up again - but in my experience, not as badly as the time before)

Take time to feel pissed off and upset then regroup and get ready for the next months bonkfest!!

terrier141 · 01/09/2008 15:55

Sorry to hear that Linz - fingers crossed for you for next time. I know how hard it is not to obsess though - you wouldnt put yourself through it if you could help it. xx

welshlinz · 01/09/2008 15:06

ok just given up hope for this month !! AF has just arrived . Oh well, fingers crossed for next month

shm, you're so right x Getting stressed isn't going to help one bit. I'm pledging to be better next month. Keep me in check, girls lol

shm · 01/09/2008 14:48

Hi welshlinz - yes, I am sure that being obsessed with it doesn't help, and probably raises your stress levels to make conception actually less likely... but that's easy to say, isn't it?

Hi terrier - do these people not have jobs? Have they absolutely no income of their own?? because that's the only way I can imagine someone having the nerve to ask you that. Must be so hard on the children, to be in the middle ...

welshlinz · 01/09/2008 12:33

terrier, OMG that is sooooo cheeky !! Bet you're furious !!

Been feeling really sick today - look totally green but think I may have a bug or something cos not feeling too great in general so unfortunately I don't think it's preg symptoms lol

Due tomorrow but got the familiar cramps starting so I guess it's on it's way but not giving up hope till it's actually arrived . Desperate to try out the clearblue freebie aswell. Has anyone used theirs yet ?

I'm vowing to not get so obsessed next month with it all !!

terrier141 · 01/09/2008 09:09

Hows everyone today - any signs linz??
Nothing here Im afraid - af due today - but no signs either way - however fairly sure AF will turn up shortly!

My ex's new wife has just sent me an email asking me to send money with my kids when they see their dad - so they can pay for treats and days out for them!!! This is in addition to him not paying ANY maintanence for the last 5 years - I am spitting feathers!!!

Hi all - linz - I now what you mean about the draining effect of obsessing - I was totally absorbed by the whole thing for the first few months and it really got me down. I think keeping busy has saved me from it lately - I couldnt have carried on like that - theyd have had me sectioned! lol!

OP posts:
welshlinz · 30/08/2008 11:22

hi all, thought I'd check in

pink - sorry to hear you're suffering at the mo with a cold but respect for your every day bonk fest ! Where do you get all your energy from ?? lol

terrier - congrats on the job x I wish I could say the same about not obsessing with ttc but I'm afraid it's all I seem to be thinking about this month !! It's really draining isn't it ?? Wonder now what I used to fill my thoughts with pre op days ?

Think I was imagining the symptoms though as I can feel the distant brewing of my AF arriving. Roll on Tuesday !!!

shm · 29/08/2008 20:09

Hi all

I don't know what the dye thing is called (my consultant explains nothing!) but after googling 'hycosy' I guess that's what it is. [also found pm's thread about it here]. I guess it is a step on the way to IVF? I think it is too soon for us to resign ourselves to having to do that, as he only got unsnipped in May.

I was meant to take the medication to bring on the period about now, but I've decided to wait until the end of September to get into all that - I'm madly trying to finish my thesis for 30 Sept.

good luck everyone.

terrier141 · 28/08/2008 19:22

Hi girls - and welcome shm to our completely obsessed thread.

I havent been on here much lately - tbh I have been really busy with the kids - back to school next week though - so peace at last!

I have found that this month (and last) I havent been anywhere near as obsessed about ttc and symptom spotting. Dont know whether its because the kids and puppy have kept me so busy - or because i cant cope with the devestation each month when AF arrives.

I have got myself a part time job in local garage in the eves and weekends now - as I am starting to worry about xmas already (I know what your thinking - but I have 4 to buy for!!).

Can I really afford another??!!!!!

welshlinz - I have everything crossed for you! No its never TMI on mumsnet!

FF finally gave me my crosshairs and I supposedly ov'd on day21. I am not convinced I have ov'd though as I always get really sore boobs and nipples from day of ov.And this month - nada. I read a thread here where people were saying FF got their ov day wrong and I agree, I dont think its that accurate. So we have stopped bonking now but I am constantly worrying in case FF got it wrong but we cant keep bonking since we have done it every day since day 10!! and both of us are now ill with a head cold and throat infection and the last thing on the planet I wanna do right now is bonk So thats me probably out for this month.

shm (artist formerly known as StephanieM! ) - good luck with the tests. I had a HYCOSY scan a few weeks ago is that what you are having?

Terrier where are you?

shm · 27/08/2008 15:02

Hi all

[Stephanie here, new nickname]

Thanks for the positive feedback. I wish the bloody doctor had told me that the results were good for a first sample!

He's been requested to do another sample next week. And I have been given these drugs to make me have a fake period, after which they will xray my plumbing. gaaaah...

welshlinz · 27/08/2008 12:17

hey pink, great to see you back

I'm 8 dpo now and suffering really bad with thrush ( sorry if TMI ) so nothing has been happening in the bedroom dept since ov day.

Pretty sure I missed it cos I think I ov'd on the Tuesday and we BD on the Wednesday evening BUT.... can't help imagining symptoms. Have been getting stomach cramps the last few days and constantly feeling sick. I know it's probably the thrush really but can't help putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5
