A few days into my two week wait now, period due around 2nd of March.

Trying not to get too excited as I'll soon be 40 and I know my chances are lower - nevertheless, I found myself downloading a pregnancy tracking app this morning and looking at all the visuals of what the baby would look like at various stages 🙃

Anyone else out there want to wait with me? Crossing fingers and toes for my November baby!!

Thanks @MrBigsCat good luck to you too! I ovulate super early which I’ve heard isn’t good for conception but is common for age 40+ so I’m wondering if that’s impacting it….

MrBigsCat · 13/05/2025 19:09

Same here @EmberR im day 9 today, I usually ovulate day 12
my cycles are so short it never feels too long until I’m in the next one
good luck to you for this month!

EmberR · 13/05/2025 16:40

I’m now waiting for next ovulation window! Your mind goes from waiting to planning so quickly… it feels a bit relentless with all time boxed into different trying and waiting bursts…

Great news @Daisychains9 I remember being massively boated by 8 weeks too- I actually looked like I had a bump already- think it’s hormones
hope we are all joining you soon 🤞🏻

So had my "7 and a bit" week scan over the weekend and there is a heartbeat. That was a huge relief. Not counting my chickens yet but feeling a bit more positive. I will not tell anyone until after 12 weeks. I did not tell anyone last time until 5 months as I did not want it to impact my career (... it still did!) I already cannot fit comfortably into jeans I was wearing a month ago. I presume that might have more to do with me eating crisps to ward of morning sickness than anything else. Anyways, my thoughts are with you all and I sincerley have all my fingers and toes crossed for you for some good news soon. Will be following along and sending lots of love. x

Congratulations 🙌

So i had a telephone appointment with my doctors today - some sort of out of hours clinic ! She was so lovely- she basically told me that the fact that i got pregnant relatively easily when I was 39 was a good sign, shes prescribed me a higher dose folic acid due to be being a bigger lady - she also said that if i dont get pregnant this cycle then they will do a blood test of cycle day 21 of my next cycle to check everything!

@Vplop fingers crossed this is your month.
I completely understand the anxiety.
I nearly drove myself to the edge with it month after month and nothing happening meanwhile everyone around me was falling pregnant at the drop of a hat.
Wouldn't it be great if we had a time machine .

Edited

I never really wanted kids until I met my partner. I’d rather be without children and with the right man instead of having kids with the wrong man. But it still hurts, especially thinking that it’s too late for me. Thank you 🙏

EmberR · 09/05/2025 23:31

Thank you for your kind comments and just feeling you’re not alone makes a big difference. Wishing you all well xx

VioIetMoon · 09/05/2025 23:29

@EmberR sorry to hear that.
I'm around the same stage as you. Period is imminent

Just got my period….at least I know and I don’t need to wonder. Bloody annoying though. I just hate how the lead up to period can feel so much like early pregnancy. So cruel

Yeah it’s easy to see what we want to see when it comes to symptoms. It’s just the way our brains are wired. It is both a blessing and a curse to be human.

It's the worst. Sore boobs are my dominant PMS symptom and everyone else's first symptom before getting a bfp on here.

@Vplop thank you for sharing your story and your honesty. Please please try not to worry, age is a factor of course but you can’t go back in time and make any different decisions. You just have to go month by month and do everything you’re doing whilst trying not to go mad!

I find distractions are good and during the waiting times just keep busy. I get it totally and I understand the frustration and focus you have. Always here if you need to vent xx

Vplop · 09/05/2025 14:35

Hi all, hope it’s ok that I join your chat. I’m nearly 41 and trying to conceive my first. It’s making me mental.

I have found that cycle tracking on the Apple health app very useful in combination with ovulation kits. my LH surge is today.

I’ve had all the preconception blood tests done, all normal. AMH is normal, surprisingly for my age. I take preconception supplements , I don’t drink or smoke anyway and I’ve been weight lifting am for a few years. I eat well. I asked my doctor what else I can do and she said nothing, it’s just my age. That was depressing to hear. I’m sick of being told how old I am, I get it- I’m fkn old. My partner is a bit younger than me so I’m feeling like a dried up old lady.

i don’t take a pregnancy test until I am late for my period, which only happened once but my period was just late that month.

i have an anxiety disorder so I tend to overthink things, so I am slowly going insane with all this stress and pressure.

both of my sisters have kids without even trying.

I hope it happens for us all soon. Look after yourselves in the meantime.

@VanessaShanessaJenkins99 I am in the same position as you! Almost! I had my son when I was 38, super lucky I got pregnant first cycle and didn’t even test until 6 weeks as I didn’t expect it.

this time round we have been trying for 5 months and nothing. But because I have been pregnant before i am symptom spotting like crazy. Just worried I left it too late to be honest. Wishing you lots of luck this month. Honestly try not to overthink it. Nothing will change the outcome and better to try and relax…

Thats what i keep thinking - i have a doctors appointment just to see if there is anything i could/should be doing to improve my chances - i do take the seven seas trying for a baby supplement and also inositol which has really helped with making my cycle regular at least - i ovulated on cycle day 20 and AF always arrives 14 days later so my cycle isn't massively longer than standard but at least i know where i am. I do track my ovulation and i think if this cycle isn't successful then i might try temperature tracking -

Please can I join this group? I am 42 and trying for a second baby. I am in the TWW and couldn’t help but symptom spot and felt this was it. Nauseous, bloated, extreme hunger. But taken 2 clear blue early tests and both clear negatives. Period due Monday… feel bit sad and every month just brings me to the assumption it won’t happen for us…

Edited

I am 42 too and trying for our 2nd baby - its only our second cycle but i have read so many other posts on other threads that really worried me! I am 3dpo so i still have a fair while to go before i test but i feel like im over analyzing everything! I think i had maybe 1 bout of cervical mucus but im now paranoid that isnt wasnt enough or it wasnt the right sort! Honestly it plays with my mind so much :( - i conceived my first born when i was 39 but this time it feels like ive missed the boat so to speak!

Oh that sounds really positive! I found the acupuncture to be useful also. I am good. I had a scan at five weeks to ensure it is not eptopic. I am having a scan tomorrow to check for a heartbeat. Fingers crossed. I have been feeling sick and very sore nipples which is different to last time when I only had fatigue. I’m going the morning sickness is a positive sign but we’ll find out tomorrow. Xx

Acupuncture definitely seems to help. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞.
I literally got pregnant for the first time ever since seeing the acupuncturist, that’s with low ovarian reserve. Sooner than we expected it to potentially work. things might not be perfect just yet, potentially going through CP, but the fact I actually managed to get pregnant is already more than without acupuncture.

MrBigsCat · 09/05/2025 10:25

Oh best of luck @Daisychains9
I remember a midwife saying feeling sick was a good sign
