Tips on how to not test before missed period

I tested early on my two pregnancies before and had two successful pregnancies then I had an early miscarriage and a chemical miscarriage last year and I was trying my hardest not to test early because of the heartbreak I experienced from the last two times. I’ve been trying this month and hoping I get a positive next month but I don’t know how I am going to stop myself from testing early, I worry so much after having the miscarriages anyone else finding it hard not to test so early x

Statistically you have to be due for some luck on the bfp side of things soon.
I'm still routing for you haha

I mean, we all absolutely failed at not testing early, but I suppose with the temping it gives you the information before you pee on something too

curliegirlie · 16/05/2025 13:10

Well, I certainly disproved the oft quoted more fertile after a loss last time round - took me 22 cycles after the March 2022 loss to have that CP, then 17 cycles before this February/March pregnancy 🤪. Although maybe that means it's my time to have a bit more luck now??

As for the title of this thread, I can't promise not to test early, but I might give testing a miss if I see my temps creep back down around 9 or 10 DPO....

LaTable · 16/05/2025 12:07

@EMC2022 you're stronger than many of us letting go of the tests haha fingers crossed it works for you this round though!

@curliegirlie totally get the need to do them. Ttc is all so out of our hands and it's so frustrating not knowing exactly what's happening within our own bodies (myself included) hopefully you did peak at the weekend and it's all covered.
Absolutely hoping you get a sticky growy one soon.
I think even though you're older than you was then, I've read you're more fertile after a loss? I have no idea if that's actually true though, but I'm going to believe it is for you!

curliegirlie · 15/05/2025 08:22

I took another test yesterday - very faint again - so I'm still working on the basis it was Sat. And my temp this morning was 36.77 which I'm happier with. I like all the monitoring because it gives me some semblance of control and knowing what's happening (even if that what is usually zilch). I'm just trying to focus on the fact that DD2 came along 4 cycles after a CP, and my mate's second was straight after a CP and following years of fertility issues before her first. Although I'm a lot older than we both were back then....

EMC2022 · 14/05/2025 23:50

@LaTable how are you?

I am just starting the TWW. I actually gave the ovulation tests a skip this month and just tried to base it off my apps. Basically DTD every second day over the predicted fertile week. I figured it may be less stress not know how many DPO I am etc. Curious if this approach will lead to more or less preganncy tests being taken!

LaTable · 14/05/2025 21:40

@Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate gah bummer, but still early days!

@curliegirlie bbt absolutely throws me for a loop. I sort of get it but I'm not a numbers kind of girl 😅
Are you still testing just incase it's a late ov?

@LucyLou0527 absolutely exciting for the fertility app though? It's a step forward.
And im sure 9/10 (not real facts) get pregnant just before or after that forst appointment... here is to hoping 😉😉

@LucyLou0527 I fell pregnant with DD1 a couple of weeks after our first fertility appointment! So you never know...

I really hope so🥲🥲 x

@curliegirlie did you end up finally getting a positive opk with the new ordered ones?

@Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate @LucyLou0527 any luck on the tests?

Hi honey I hope you are well! Thanks for checking in!

Im currently in my final cycle before my appt in June with the fertility specialist.. fingers crossed I can cancel the appt but I doubt it🥲

curliegirlie · 14/05/2025 14:27

@LaTable I didn't see that they'd arrived on the Saturday, so didn't do another test until Monday, by which time my LH levels had completely dropped. My temps suggested I may have ovulated on Sunday (CD17) but they still feel a bit low for post ov, so I don't quite believe it (or that this cycle will be successful) yet...FF isn't absolutely convinced either 😅

@LaTableNeg this morning but only 9dpo. Light cramping but no AF yet, so we shall see 🙂 trying to be more positive going forward! How are you? X

LaTable · 14/05/2025 13:49

@Laria19 so good to hear your 12 week scan went well! Are you telling everybody now?

I'm fine thanks, keep flicking through my 12w scans and having mini meltdown moments because I think it's another bloody girl 😅 time will tell I suppose.

Laria19 · 09/05/2025 14:19

@LaTable I feel good how are you feeling 😊had my 3 month scan yesterday and everything looks great, I can breath a sigh of relief 😮‍💨 @curliegirlie so sorry you are having a hard time I’ve been there to after my two miscarriages, fingers crossed you will get what you wished for x

Don't be silly, you do not have to apologise for brain dumping on us! That's what we are here for! Please dump away!

The stress I imagine and also being super busy mum of 2 doesn't help with all of it I bet.
Bummer about running out of opks!
I think you're on the right tracks with on ov and the day before, but tbh, even if you manage just once on peak or just the day before you're covered.
Are your peaks usually really fast to happen and go?
Or maybe it's a messed up cycle again and it's just rising and lowering but not peaking yet?

Also, I think 44 is a fine age to be having a baby so long as you feel well within yourself. There are at least 3 mothers in my kids school (which is tiny less than 150 kids) that all had babies in their late 40s

curliegirlie · 09/05/2025 11:20

Frustrated with OPKs tbh. I'm CD16 today and haven't had a conclusive surge yet (0.35 last night and this morning but most recent one was 0.23 again, so 🤷‍♀️ I guess I potentially may have peaked overnight...and now I've run out of bloody sticks!).

I just all feels a lot of pressure. After the last MC I had it in my head it wouldn't be instant, but would probably happen within the year (and then, obviously ended up carrying on for a further 2...). Now I feel like we've only got a few more months to make it happen, as I can just about live with the idea of being a new mum again at 43, 44 just feels silly and unwise. I hate the run up to ov day as I have it in my head we need to cover O and O-1 ideally, and without the OPKs playing ball it's impossible to know when to stop. I have Pregnacare Max supplements, which I've been taking, but keep worrying it might further screw up my cycle (although I've never had vits do that before, but everything is playing on my mind....)....sorry for the brain dump....

LaTable · 09/05/2025 09:41

How is everybody today?
Feeling any better @cucurliegirlie ?

Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate · 05/05/2025 18:37

Did it Saturday and Sunday, hopefully that's enough... I was hangry today so killed the mood 🤣 there's always tomorrow to try and catch the eggs when it's on its way down (if that's a thing)! Yesterday's swimmers better be ready to catch it, or I think we'll have to take 3-4 months off!

LaTable · 05/05/2025 18:11

Absolutely agree! I've always read that you need to read the first positive as the peak. But I mean so long as you've done the dead you've covered the day after incase we read it wrong anyway!
Plus all those swimmers will be sat just waiting patiently for the race to begin 😉

Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate · 05/05/2025 16:47

First month of OPKs! Taking yesterday as peak as I think it's darker than today's....

How are you?
