Hi everyone i'm new to this site. I have a 2 and a half year old boy and I thought it was about time he had a brother or sister so weve started trying for a baby. I took a test 2 days before my period was due (a bit too impatient)and no result appeared in the window at all but the second window showed a completed sign. I took another test 5 days later and it showed a faded horizontal line and an extremely (I stress the word extremely, my partner couldn't see it) light vertical line. Two tests later with the same clear blue sticks and its the same result each time, this isn't described on the instructions. Anyone got a clue?

Sorry - but if it's a clearblue test then a very faint non blue ( grey) line is a negative test - shame they don't say as much on the box!) I had one and found the info on a website - gutted of course!

JayTree · 16/03/2003 09:03

Sounds positive to me too - good luck. I had very faint line on a Friday morning - alomst invisible. Redid it that evening (very impatient) this time dh seemed a little more convinced. Waited two days and then still a faint but most definitely visible cross - finally allowed ourselves to get excited after a weekend of up and down emotions. Clear Blue is not so clear after all as this thread suggests!! If you can bear it, wait a couple more days and do it again (Boots test sounds worth a shot) Here?s hoping!!

I'm sure I read that any 2nd line at all means a positive result. It's testing for HcG, which is only present when you are expecting - so I'd say it's very early days but yes it's positive! Let us know when you do another test!

Chinchilla · 15/03/2003 20:29

My first test was exactly the same. I was only a few days late. I telephoned the company, and they said that any line was a positive test, but recommended trying again a few days later to be sure. I did, and I was! Try again in a few days, and I'll bet that there will be a big pink line! Congratulations!

EmmaTMG · 15/03/2003 20:23

I had exactly the same and am now 13 weeks PG. The line was barely visible, infact if DH had seen it he would have said I was imagining it but over a matter of a few hours it got darker and by the time he got home from work there was on mistaking the result.
I'd put money on it that there's a little one on the way for you and your DH, especially as your result sound so much like mine.
Good Luck and keep us posted.

Hi wondering

Sounds positive to me. I had the same result - very faint, peered at it all evening, DH reckoned there wasn't anything to see. Did it again the next week and I swear the line was there before I'd even used it!

chiccadum · 15/03/2003 19:50

Wondering, with dd1 and dd2 I only got very very faint lines, on dd1's it was hardly visible. Also with most pregnancy testing kits these days it really doesn't matter what time of day you take the test.

Good luck.

I think this is probably a stupid question! I've just done a pg test and there is a very very very faint 2nd line, only just visible with the closest inspection under an incredibly bright light! My period is due tomorrow and it wasn't early morning urine (late pm). What does anyone think? No other symptoms of being pg at all...dh thinks he can see it too so I don't think I imagined it. We would be pleased but the suspense is killing us! Any ideas?

Tessie · 09/02/2003 15:54

unfortunately my period started Sat so had a 33 day cycle. Will have to be busy this month!!!

Marina · 07/02/2003 16:56

Tessie, a positive test bang on day 28 depends on you ovulating bang on day 14 and having a standard 14 day phase post-ovulation. An awful lot of women don't follow this pattern - all my successful pregnancy tests have been negative on day 28 and positive by day 34. So could be worth the wait...good luck.

EmmaTMG · 07/02/2003 16:35

Wow! you will be busy then. Mine are 3 (4 in april) and 19 months. I'm 8 weeks into my pregnancy so I'll be quite busy too I suppose.

Tessie · 07/02/2003 16:33

fingers (or maybe legs!) crossed! Would love to be pregnant again...my first is 5 months

EmmaTMG · 07/02/2003 16:24

Ohh that is strange...I'll be waiting with baited breath for news of a positive result...fingers crossed

Tessie · 07/02/2003 16:20

still no period and am now 4 days late....strange....

Tessie · 06/02/2003 15:09

still negative but still no period - will see what happens in the next few days......

Tessie · 06/02/2003 10:33

Thanks will dig it out of the bin and take another look at it! Periods usually regular although this is only the second cycle since I stopped breastfeeding so things may take a while to settle. Still no sign of a period today though....

EmmaTMG · 06/02/2003 09:39

Hmmm, that's odd isn't it. Are you periods always regular? When I did my test the positive line was very faint and it took quite a while for it to get really visable, probably over an hour really although I could see it after the minute it said on the pack but only in certain light.
Maybe wait until the weekend and try again although I'm in no position to suggest such a long wait as being patient doesn't happen in my life.
Good luck anyway.

Tessie · 06/02/2003 08:40

Tried the Boots test this morning and still getting a negative result. Still no sign of my period - it was due on Tuesday.....

Tessie · 05/02/2003 19:49

Will do - am not getting my hopes up because of the absence of the symptoms/signs!!!

EmmaTMG · 05/02/2003 19:45

Wow, I would have definatley done the other test by now. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you....you must let us know how it goes.

Tessie · 05/02/2003 19:35

still no period but still no sickness or any other 'signs' - we shall see!

bluebear · 05/02/2003 14:05

Tessie - I recommend the First Response tests (they're in pink and white packaging). The packet says that they can be used 3 days before your period is due. I had a negative superdrug test yesterday, but a very positive first reponse test today.
Am now off to be sick - oh joy!

Tessie · 05/02/2003 12:25

Thanks - will wait a few days and try the Boots one. Am really hoping for a positive although have no real classic symptoms. Have a stuffy nose and had period like cramps but thats about it - oh and a fair few headaches. My first was unplanned and only found out at 7 weeks so am pretty ignorant when it comes to detecting early signs etc....My first is now 5 months and would like to have 2 close together - fingers crossed. Will be on the edge of my seat over the next few days waiting for my period - agony!

Tinker · 05/02/2003 11:32

I got a positive on the day I was due - think it was Clearblue, just asked for the cheapest!

EmmaTMG · 05/02/2003 11:16

I had a negative result with a predictor test yet a positive result with a superdrug one. I'm expecting again now and chose the cheapest one I could find.....which was a Boots one and I got a positive result on the day my period was due.....maybe I'm just cheap!!
