I am well - still cheerful after watching Mama Mia at the movies this weekend. It was a great feel-good movie (Aside from the appalling singing!!) It is the kind of movie that makes you want to go on holiday (to Greece!!) with a bunch of your best friends.

I had my stitches out this morning and am pleased the whole thing is officially behind me now. Now I just need to get to CD1....start a new month and get back to making a baby!!

Speaking of which, AF should be here any day now. My temps are dropping slowly but steadily. I normally have spotting for a few days before my period, so it is interesting that I do not have any yet. I have been taking Raspberry Leaf Extract - which is meant to help prevent spotting...we'll see if it has worked!!

Minxi have a great holiday, look forward to hearing all about it when you get back!

lastbox it is a pity that you are away from CD16 but you still stand a good chance if you go for it as much as possible before then.

lottie your consultants visit sounds interesting, apart from the statement about the 14 day LP. If only that were the case!! It does sound like he had some good advice to offer. My mother had blocked fallopian tubes after having me and had to have a laparoscopy before conceiving my younger brother (Which happened very quickly after her operation!) As the others have said - just trust your instincts and question anything that doesn't feel right.

lastboxoftampons · 21/07/2008 11:49

Minxi So of your lovely lOOOOOONG holiday! Have a fab time and safe travels!

minxi · 21/07/2008 11:38

Hello girls - all feeling fabulous here - off on holiday today and not back for a few weeks!! Wil catch up when I can - if I get access to a pc but I shall be relaxing and recovering from the last few weeks being manic busy!!!

Lottie v excting about starting the process of all.... I remember when I first saw a consultant he also said that every woman has a 14 day LP and what I was saying was nonsense and no need to temp etc... I said I did it beause I also found it v interesting...men what do they know?!

Lastbox hope you have a fab time and like Lottie says just keep at it as much as you can until you go away...

Yarnie hope it has sunk in yet - I just feel the same no more pains now just a bit tired in the evening but feeling fab. am about 5 + 5 now... when I get back will be nearly 12 weeks - and have already been told off by doc as away for the bloods between 10 and 11 weeks !! am back after ! oh well...

Anyway hello to everyone else must dash and catch a plane xxxxx

Morning!

Lottie Yarnie's giving good advice about the GYN. I guess you're getting a very balanced viewpoint here! Although that probably doesn't help you make any decisions. But I do agree in that your LP is probably not what is making TTC difficult for you, so maybe it doesn't matter that he's not up to speed on that bit. I definitely agree though that you need to be your own advocate, so if there's something that's bothering you, you need to speak up about it ( because she's not very good at taking her own advice! )

As for knowing when I ovulate - yes, you're both right, I usually ovulate around the same time each month, CD18-20. I've been taking agnus castus this month, so I guess I was just vainly hoping that it would move up my ov date. Anyway, I'm away from Wednesday afternoon, which will be CD16 - so we're just going to have to get a bunch o' GOFing in before I go and then that's it. Nothing can be done about it, so I just need to let go and relax!

Yarnie · 21/07/2008 08:14

Morning all.

I think I crossed posts with you yesterday, Lottie, as I didn't see yours until today.

As far as medical professionals go, if there is something which you are sure about and which impacts on your treatment, you need to put your foot down. All professions should engage with a high degree of continuing education, but the reality is, some of the older contingent do not and their knowledge can be out of date. All medical text books refer to the luteal phase as being about 14 days, so perhaps you can go armed with some literature next time? If what he is saying has no impact on your treatment, you may just choose to just let it wash over you, but if he wants to do tests at a particular point in your cycle, say, then do be very firm. If he continues to ignore you to the detriment of your treatment, go elsewhere and make sure you log a complaint.

LBOT If you're slightly unsure when you ovulate, my suggestion would be just to go at it hammer and tongs for a good week to 10 days around the right time and then give yourselves a good rest after you've had your post-ov temp shift.

Hi All:

Lottie I'm well impressed that you were chatting with Zita West and Marilyn Glanville! They're like fertility royalty! As for the GYN...hate to say it, but I'd run in the opposite direction from a doctor who insists every woman has a 14-day LP Seriously, how can he be practicing! Especially considering that he didn't have any scientific explanation or even a theory to back it up... Did you mention it to Zita? We've just gotten back from the County fair - we were there from about 1 to 4:30 or so. It was good fun, but TOTALLY full of babies. I told DH I felt really left out - we don't even have a dog! Did you go in the end? It was rammed!

Oh, and good suggestion on the how to let him know it's time topic. I think my problem at the moment is that I'm getting progressively WORSE at reading my body's signs of ovulation. Probably because there aren't any! Last month I thought it might be time around CD12 or so - I didn't actually ovulate until CD20. I don't want to kill the poor guy - has anyone ever died of excessive GOFing??

Yarnie great to hear your temps are staying nice and high!

Yarnie · 20/07/2008 10:14

Hi everyone!

LBOT Very sorry to hear you had a bust up with your DH, but glad to hear you've made up. That aspect of TTC is a challenge. I was already thinking about strategies to keep the romance in and the contention out, but it's difficult.

Brightside Hope you're having a lovely weekend. Regrettably DF has delegated lawn-mowing as one of my jobs, but I might have to delegate it right back to him! I feel like a good potter today, but I have work to do

Hi to Lottie, Minxi, Nappy and MissModular, if you're out there.

Hello everyone!

Yarnie I see your temp's back up this morning!

Just had a huge blow out with DH, but we're cool now. Not sure how much the builders understood but I had been feeling really awkward about having to tell him when it's "time" to have sex and just feeling like we were exhausting ourselves with five days in a row or whatever around my fertile time so that it was basically nonexistent throughout the rest of my cycle. Probably not a problem for most people, but because I have very little EWCM, it's hard for me to determine when my fertile time is exactly and I think it's just easier if we make an effort to have sex more regularly and more often

Morning all,

NEARLY WEEKEND!!

I had a significant temp drop to just below the coverline this morning - down by 0.2. Perhaps AF is on its way early - my temps don't normally drop so early in my cycle. Will see what happens tomorrow!

Yarnie, hang in there - as you say, some temperature fluctuations are normal.

My weekend plans include seeing Mama Mia at the movies. Has anyone seen it?

Perfectly fine for your temp to fluctuate, Yarnie! I suggest you ditch the thermometer!

Not sure what we have planned for the weekend other than cleaning up after the builders! The Lambeth County Fair is this weekend, so no doubt we'll wander the block over to the park at some point.

Yarnie · 18/07/2008 08:24

A bit of a temp drop today which has prompted some mild freaking out. Just trying to be nonchalant and figure that what will be will be. I looked at some pg charts on FF which made me feel a bit better as it appears temp does continue to fluctuate, and I'm not below the coverline or anything.

What's everyone up to today? Anything exciting planned for the weekend?

I'm dashing around like a mad thing, which is probably good as it will take my mind of everything for a while.

Brightside had a chuckle at the visual of you dancing around the lounge...but I don't know what you look like so I just pictured you as Helen Mirren in a red bikini!

I've been seducing DH every other night this month as I'm trying out a slow and steady wins the race approach - I'm taking agnus castus and I know that it brings ov forward for some people and I don't want to miss it. Of course he knew something was up so I've had to fill him in. When I mentioned the AC was a herb he rolled his eyes at me I can only imagine what he'd say about the fertility spell! And then I'll have to tell him 'Yeah, but it worked for this girl I know in Denmark Hill' We might have to come over and inspect your bump, Lottie!

Good afternoon!

I can't believe that it is already midday and I haven't had time to get my daily fix of MN yet. Doesn't Work know that I have other urgent needs?

Yarnie - what a lovely way of letting your DF know.

lottie sorry you and your DP went through such a tough time but it certainly sounds like you got through it brilliantly. It is hard sometimes - but those really awful rough patches can create a stronger relationship at the end.

That fertility spell looks fascinating - what do you actually 'get'? Is it a ritual or a talisman?

Helen Mirren looks AMAZING...wow. I don't think I ever have or ever will look like that in a bikini! (Hell....I have even given up on wearing bikinis !)

Yarnie · 17/07/2008 11:09

Bloody hell! Go, Helen! She looks amazing. I don't look anywhere near that good now and I am quite a number of years her junior!

Wow.

lastboxoftampons · 17/07/2008 10:27

So sorry to hear about you and DP, but sounds like you've sorted yourselves out very well! So, I'm intrigued by the fertility spell!!!! We'll need a full update! Best of luck with it!

Am I the only female on here drooling over Helen Mirren in a red bikini? Have you guys seen the pics? Check her out She looks absolutely incredible!

Yarnie so pleased for you both! And LOL about your DF's reaction! I remember that "okay, well, now what?" feeling actually! We felt we were being so 'proactive' while GOF'ing and then there's nothing to do but wait around for nine months! Well, there's plenty to do, but early on not much but see your GP and wait for booking in!

Hi Nappy! I know it's uber cheesy - but Baby Dust your way for this cycle!!!

Lottie PMSL about the fertility Spell. Looks like Mia has the market cornered there, huh? And you know what, sounds like she's pretty bright. We all get so desperate that we'd spend £8 on a penny sweet if someone said it would make us pregnant! so are you going to do it?

Missmodular · 17/07/2008 09:54

Yarnie!! Just popping by to say congratulations!!!

Yarnie · 17/07/2008 07:33

Good tips, LBOT! Can your mum keep them coming?! I love avocados and pears so I'll chuck them in the shopping basket next time I'm in Sainsburys

So. DF is now in the know! I wrapped up my HPT and a post card I sewn the word "Daddy" on and gave it to him in bed. Bless him, he was so confused (and expecting a more traditional present). His first words were "That was quick!". He's really pleased, although he does keep muttering "What do we do now?". Being a know nothing newbie, I can't help him. I had better start researching!

I'm going to keep temping until I get my 18 high temps.
