TTC #1 over 35

6w5d first time but had no heartbeat, 7w5d this time measuring bang on with a heartbeat. Maybe I’ll make it to 8w5d next time 🥲!

im mainly worried about the anxiety now, I was so anxious this time around and its going to be even worse 😖😖

Hello team, I am very much a lurker here I mainly dip in and out because if I read too many bad things I spiral.

I am 38 next month and it will be one year of trying only due to a massive relocation we actually only tried (as in did the smiley face test) twice and miraculously have fallen pregnant twice. Especially this time which really was a one hit wonder.

Alas despite having a strong heartbeat two weeks ago it was not meant to be and I found I had another MMC yesterday 😞

Strangely despite being absolutely devastated yesterday I feel quite positive. I had already begun a fertility referral and had my bloods done, I was prescribed iron and folate. I’ve had the ultrasound and all fine. Also I’ve fallen pregnant twice.

So I will have this dealt with, pray hope and try again for a third lucky time and by god will I be seen by the recurrent miscarriage team and medical intervention from the day I find out if I am blessed to have a next time. That’s not to say I don’t have issues with my egg quality.

This is a difficult road and path, I really feel for everyone here, we wait to ensure a good quality of life and it is challenging.

Well to give you a bit of hope @Jellybeancloud i have less than 8 afc normally, but my private clinic managed to get 5 eggs on my first round, and 4 on the second. Whereas the nhs blanket protocol only got three eggs and one egg on two rounds respectively, and my amh was slighter higher then. The nhs cut offs are just becuase they have to draw a line somewhere, and not because you have no chance with ivf.

we’re unfortunate that our egg and sperm combo doesn’t seem to make blasts, we get perfect day 3s but they arrest before day 5. This recent cycle was a “natural modified” cycle which is good for low amh as your body self selects the best candidate, but then you get only 1 or 2 eggs. Hopefully it’ll give us different results.

But yeah, 3 cycles trying is so few, hopefully your luck will be a lot better than mine!

@Clara202 thanks and sorry to hear you're still waiting. I can't get NHS treatment because of the low AMH I'll not be eligible but TFP that we went to would do it. We're only on cycle 5 so they said to give it a few months and then we can look at IVF potentially.
@Nosejug the 7-8 is total which she said it was okish, but the AMH they would have wanted it to be higher. I'm not sure about the measurements, she said she would send us all the test results/details but it was a late afternoon appointment yesterday so I don't have them yet. Hope all goes well and this is your time

@Jellybeancloud afc of 7-8 isn’t that bad? I’m assuming you meant 7-8 in total, but the phrasing might mean you were saying 7-8 on each ovary? If that’s the case then it’s pretty darn good.

what measurement is your amh number? ng/mL or pmol/l? Mine is higher than yours (around 3.5) but I only have a few follicles.

Unless you end up down the ivf road amh is meaningless. I’m literally in a gown on hospital bed waiting for my 5th egg retrieval.

I've been lurking on the threads for a few months now but haven't commented yet. How is everyone getting on?
I've just turned 39 and ttc #1, starting on cycle 5. Me and DH went for fertility tests to see where we're at. All is good on his side but my AMH is 1 and AFC is around 7-8 both of which are lower than they'd want. I am gutted. I knew my chances would be low but this seems worse than I'd imagined. I'm not really sure what I want to get from this comment, but hoping there's others that understand and maybe some advice.

Feeling a bit dejected today. 5DPO but I’ve started to get that achey sore crampy feeling that seems to signify that AF is coming. I have a shorter luteal phase (10) so I get them quite early on. It really sucks to know you’re out so early.

Third cycle and am already wondering how I'm going to be able to keep perking myself up to keep trying again month after month. Really wish it wasn’t this hard for me, I want to be a mother so much.

@Nosejug thank you. BFN today. tests all fine (for 40+yr olds) for hormones/ /uss etc but not had any extra tests for the chemicals/v early miscarriages- think they put them down to age.

Hey just reading the post. I'm 38 and positively trying... ohh. 5 month TTC, one chemical. ohhh... hope to reach a baby. And then..another one haha! Currently around 3 dpo holding it down.

@Nosejug Annoyingly I’m not sure how they feel about it. I’ve been waiting on a call from a doctor today but haven’t heard anything back despite chasing. They noticed the fibroids when I was first pregnant, I was always told it wouldn’t affect being able to conceive and they were unlikely to affect my pregnancy apart from needing a c-section. Now it looks like they might have changed their minds. Very frustrating to be left in the dark! Thank you for sharing your story though, it’s nice to hear a happy story <3

@HollyGolightly4 Be kind to yourself and take it one day at a time, you are pregnant and that’s fantastic.

Genuinely just because we want this so much (I know we all do) and it hasn't happened in so long I'm terrified it's not real.

Just scrolling back on it @HollyGolightly4 , is there a reason you’re worried about chemical? Seems like your positive was early enough. I use tests daily also to help affirm progression. I’d recommend not using the cheapest ones as they had a really faint line for me when boots test was blazing. Same with testing out trigger shot hcg, it’s meant to be a very strong line and my one steps can only muster a pink wink.

Ah @Millinie sorry to hear about the multiple chemicals. I’d say until 12 dpo with an early test is still early, since normal implantation is up to 10dpo and it can take two days for something to show. I actually think I had a chemical in the last cycle, I was using cheap preg tests and getting a whisper that I was doubting, then at 14 dpo (usually I have my period at 10 dpo) I used two boots tests and both had a vfl. I’ve had a MMC at 10 weeks and an ectopic over the last year. If I’m honest I’d be pleased even if it was a chemical as achieving implantation seems extremely difficult for me. Have you had any tests done?

Oh @Marvelftw sorry to hear about the fibroid. Were they worried about it? A positive story on that, my (40 year old) friend had some fibroids, had treatment for them and said they came out while she was swimming in the sea hah. Not many months later she was pregnant and now has a few month old baby. First time mother. I think about her when I need encouragement!

@HollyGolightly4 Ahh bless, I know that feeling of getting a no month after month feels so draining. Glad to hear its turned into some good news this month!

@Nosejug Good luck for the transfer! I understand why they typically don’t like to do more than one transfer but if I was in your position I would definitely be asking for two as well.

I'm still just plodding along. Results have said that my blood so far seems normal but a fibroid I have could be making implantation harder. I’m now being referred to a gynaecologist.

Thank you @Marvelftw. Trying six months before miscarriage in Jan 23 at 12 weeks, then absolutely nothing since until yesterday! So I've lost count of cycles 🤣

funny that the digital was slow to catch up on the news.

We’ve got two embryos and the clinic recommend doing a day 3 transfer so I’ll never find out if they’re blasts. If they’re both ok tomorrow I’m going to ask for both being transferred. Hopefully increase the chance of a pregnancy (day 2 today).

Day 9 DPO and BFN. I'm >40 TTC no.1 so I know I'm running out of time. Several chemicals in the last year. It is so stressful!! Chemicals were late-ish positives so really wanted an early one.

I really don't know. Clear blue dated me (I've done another one since!) at 1-2 weeks, so it really is very early, but I've rang the hospital because that's what the consultant said to do and they're going to look at progesterone xxx

I hope your ivf results turn out @Nosejug. I guess you will know how many blasts you get by early next week? Sending you all the luck!

@HollyGolightly4 what a lovely surprise! Do you think you’re about four weeks pregnant then? I assume so as that’s when positive tests happen typically. I had a private scan at seven weeks to check the heartbeat because I didn’t want to wait until 12 weeks. After the seven week scan, I booked my NHS midwife appointment.
