My friend stopped the pill and got pregnant really quickly.

It took me around 3 months to have a period when I stopped the pill. My cycles were really long too at 35 days. It’s crazy how everyone’s body works differently.

As were over 35 weeks can get tested if we have no success after 6 months TTC (from what I’ve read) so I’ll give it the 6 cycles, then I’ll go to the Dr and see what they say.

Im like you - I read a bit too much 🙈. I’m back at work this week properly so that will take my mind off it.

Yeah I also heard of some people getting pregnant first cycle off the pill which is why I started reading about it. Just goes to show that everyone’s different!

My GP told me if I'm not naturally pregnant by May to come see them so we’ll see what happens by then. Fingers crossed for baby dust🤞 ✨

5dpo here today. Can’t wait to test but I think I’m out this month. On Premom and my cycle tracker, I’m due on the 12th so that’s only 11dpo but we shall see

Is it usual for you @Hen2000? I've never had any symptoms during the TWW, though with my last pregnancy I started having hot flushes two days before I got a positive, which was odd for me as I'm always cold. I had strong cramps with my first pregnancy too, which is what lead me to test before AF, but it never implanted properly and I miscarried at 6 weeks. I see loads of people cramp through their luteal phase though, so guess it can be really normal!

I used to feel cramps and backache a day before period would arrive. But last month I had cramps maybe day 5/9dpo i did have a very faint line on one test all others negative and period arrived.

I've only recently started having periods again after extended breastfeeding so it's been almost 4 years (pregnancy and breastfeeding) since I've had regular periods.

I have tests at home from last month but I felt I got a bit too crazy testing so I think I'm trying not to this month

@EEB1989 Yes I remember you posting before :) We’re both 35 trying for our first. Sorry about the cramps but I guess wait to see what happens?

I literally only stopped the pill in November and really think I jumped the gun by doing all this research into it so soon. My body probably needs a bit more time to adjust coming off BC but hey, here I am now 😅

Heyy, I had this too in my first cycle TTC (really thought it might have been a pregnancy at one point). Went to the GP because I was a bit worried and she said it was probably my body adjusting after being on the pill for so long.

Obviously your situation could be different but my AF came exactly when it was meant to. I did take an early pregnancy test though so knew I wasn’t pregnant.

Morning,
I’m CD 30 today, one app (clue) is saying AF due today and my other (pre mom) is saying tomorrow. I’ve tested and it’s a BFN but I’m only 11DPO (short luteal phase).

I’ve been off contraception for around two years. I’m not holding out hope - I recon AF will arrive just a few days late. I usually have cycles of 29 days but sometimes, like this month when I ovulate late, AF is late. My luteal phase is never less than 11 days.

I really thought it was AF the other night. My cramps can be really bad and cause sciatic pain down my legs - it was just like that. I only cramp for one day.

I guess I’ll just have to wait and see but Ive mentally prepared for AF. It’s only our first cycle trying.

Marvelftw · 05/01/2025 07:30

EEB1989 · 04/01/2025 20:14

Hi Ladies,
I think I’m out this month, it’s only our first try but I think I’d symptom spotted too much and convinced myself we had won the lottery!

AF is due tomorrow and I was up all night with AF type cramps. I’ve never had that before - usually I cramp and then AF arrives but AF isn’t here yet… I might test tomorrow (11DPO) if AF doesn’t come in the night.
Has anyone had this? Am I still in the game or am I just fooling myself 😩.

i can see it on there now! congratulations 🌈

AmberARK · 05/01/2025 06:52

Hi everyone! Hope it's not too late to jump on!

Just joined mums net and it's our first TTC cycle for baby no.1. I'm currently CD7 and I'm due to ovulate around the 15th Jan according to my Flo app, but doing ovulation tests every morning & evening (just in case) with the clear blue tests.

Bit of a back story, I'm 29 and my partner is 32 and has a 13 year old son already. I came off the pill around 2.5 years ago now after being on it for about 12 years and have used Flo to track my cycles as prior to going on the pill my periods were all over the place.

I'm super excited but slightly anxious as I can be an over thinker so hoping being in supportive groups like this will help out. I've brought booked to read also and Ive started take pre-pregnancy multivitamins.

Keeping everything crossed that its all of our months!x

KittyFantastica · 04/01/2025 21:20

Sorry, I can't answer your question as I've not experienced that before. I just wanted to say solidarity as I've had painful cramps on and off all day today. I'm still five days away from when my period is due, but it's unnerving anyway.

I have also been very crampy. I'm awake early cramping and 5 days until period. 7dpo here

This was my first cycle using OPKs and my ratios were like 0.2 until CD12, then shot up to 1.19 on CD 13. So mine was more of a rapid peak! The peak lasted only about 24 h.
Now from next cycle, I'll start testing from CD10 or 11

Thank you.
i’ve only been testing every day because ive had no real cycle for the last 16yrs being on hormonal contraception and 3 bleeds in 4wks after my coil removed.
Didn’t have a clue what was what, but it’s been helpful in at least knowing I’ve started working pretty quickly 😂

AmazeB · 05/01/2025 03:14

MrsH26 · 04/01/2025 22:01

Can I ask how long peaks often take for you that do OPKs…
yesterday mine were all above 0.4 (my baseline seems to be 0.11-0.14) from lunch time today high 0.7s but it isn’t going up any more and it’s been like it for 10hrs! I’ve had one that was pretty much as dark as the control line. Does it often hover high for a while before peaking?

Mine does this too sometimes, some months I get a ‘rapid’ peak which comes on and goes again within a few hours… other times its like you said and it’s 0.4 one day, then 0.7 next day and then 1.2 or so the day after that. So if you don’t get above 1 today you might tomorrow! X

Thank you!
That’s helpful. DH works away Tuesdays, so that would be typical!

Sorry to hear that AF has arrived @Kateb149, it's all a bit like entering the lottery isn't it. Your numbers will come in one month, I'm sure of it 🤞
I am 12DPO and BFN for me. My period should arrive on Monday and then I am going for my first ever fertility investigation so hopefully on the way to some answers and support.
For various reasons we're not going to try this month, so best of luck for next cycle and I hope I won't see you on the Feb/March group

Thinking of you @CoolSummer89. Not too far behindu. On months 13 of ttc with no positives in that time frame. Have an appointment with gp to either be referred to fertility of to push for investigations to be done on myself. My partner had his SA which showed really good numbers and all in the normal percentages. I had one day 21 bloods done 4 months ago now which confirmed ovulation. Hope i have a decent gp who will be very helpful x

@Runingoncaffeine sorry for all the abbreviations! I'd agree with the advice about seeing how you get on with having regular sex over your fertile period (and a few days either side if you aren't sure how accurate that is) and starting the prenatal vitamins. Good luck 🙂
