But when are you testing Cal?? And Moos??

Sorry about all of the bugs/poorly people, seems to be so much of it going around at the moment.

It's gone cloudy

calsworld · 02/05/2008 10:21

Oh Moos, FULL of sympathy in this house! Hope doc helps out with DD.

Moosma · 02/05/2008 10:17

Just popping in to say I'm still alive - just! We've all had the bug that DD2 had, I spent all of weds night being sick, then DH and DD1 got it too. DD2's off to the dr in a minute as she isn't getting better.

Hope you're all well, will catch up later.........

calsworld · 02/05/2008 10:17

LOL Tink - I was about to 'tut' at you for eating a whole tub of cookies and a whole tub of cream haagen dazs...then realised it was 'just' a tub of icecream!

Dentist won't be as bad as you think K, full of sympathy for you though as I'm rubbish at going - not that I don't go, just that I normally feel I deserve a sticker if I manage not to cry !

calsworld · 02/05/2008 10:15

I must have used about half a box of tissues on my snotty DS' nose this morning. There just seems to be a constant stream from each nostril to his mouth every time I look at him - and I AM wiping it regularly and every time he sneezes!

He's concentrating on shredding up tissues at the moment ...off to doc's in a bit.

What stats do you want? OV? I'm confused . I'm CD 20 and think I might have ov'd CD 18/19.

tinkiswaiting · 02/05/2008 10:10

NatalieJane · 02/05/2008 09:33

Ooooooh no, one thing just wouldn't do, and I must admit, it is all about watching them open their pressies for me, I would wrap everything up just to watch their faces while they unwrap a bowl of cornflakes and a banana LOL

NatalieJane · 02/05/2008 09:23

Morning Tink

I always go wayyyyyy over board, we normally set a 'budget' of about £200, but end up spending (inc. party, decs, etc. etc.) about £500-£600 Even more so with DS1 because he want's the lastest gadget, which can be £300 gone in one shot!

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 09:21

He went to a petting farm when we were in London with my mum. Plus we can't drive so we are stuck really.

We are getting DS reins. I love the idea of them. I've seen some great ones that are attached to a backpack that DS can wear.

NatalieJane · 02/05/2008 09:18

DS2 was also 15 months before he'd walk alone (he'd been walking with his push along thingymebob, and doing one or two steps on his own for a long time before though.) I have taken him, without the buggy, this week to get DS1 from school, but he won't walk holding my hand, everytime I hold it he sits down! So have ordered some reins (which I don't like the idea of - dog lead anyone? ) but I can't let him just toddle along on his own, aside from the fact that he is still getting used to his proper shoes, the way people drive/park at home time, even I don't want to walk alone!!

Good points about the soft play/swimming Cal If the weather is nice (and it is bloody beautiful here at the moment, not a cloud in sight, and although it's a bit chilly in the shade, you can already feel the heat of the sun ) how about doing something outside? Maybe a petting farm (stay away from the lambs though!) or play park/picnic? Both the DS's love nothing more than just being free to roam for a while

Cal, not really sure what to say about the job situation, I suppose it is one of the drawbacks of being a working mum, and since I have never done it, I have no practical advice. It's no good even suggesting to start a thread, because it will just turn into the same old pointless argument those sort of threads always do. And I can imagine that it is even harder with having no one to look after DS in an emergency. Hopefully your boss will continue to be understanding, do you feel you could talk to her about it, explain how you don't like to just be flitting off when he is ill but you have no choice? Might be worth a go. Is there much chance of being able to move more of your work so it can be done at home?

tinkiswaiting · 02/05/2008 09:06

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 09:05

DS is 13 months old. He has taken a few steps alone but when I've been at work which is really upsetting me as its why I didn't want to go back to work.

He hasn't been to soft play but has been swimming loads of times. I'd rather it took up a whole morning/afternoon so we get value for our money.

calsworld · 02/05/2008 09:01

Kayz, how old is DS? Mine wouldn't even holding hands, he was just happy crawling, then he started cruising and then stopped again, then suddenly, off he went! He was about 15 months IIRC.

Re what to do at the weekend, I'd say it depends on the temperature of your local pool. If its 29degs or less, you should only be in the pool for about half an hour or so, unless you have a wetsuit, whereas you can play for hours at a soft play place.

Soft play is better for drinks, nappy changes, feeding, coffee for you etc....

But, I do think that people then always change soft play and much fewer kids get to go swimming than used to - so for the experience, I'd go swimming!

SO I guess the crucial question is, do you want an activity for about an hour or so or to fill a whole morning / afternoon?
