Hi all,
Starting a thread for people who are TTC/testing in November 2024.

A bit about me. I am TTC#1. I'm 35 and DH is 36, we have been trying since Dec 2023 and this will be our 13th cycle! We've had some basic tests and all seem to be OK, but GP referred us to fertility clinic today. So feel like we're entering the next stage of TTC.

Fertile week is next week. I'm not going to test until a missed period, which will be 14th Nov.

There were a lot of positives in the October thread so hopefully we're as lucky! 💖

Sending you all lots of love!! Coming out of the other side of an unexpected AF sooo hopefully my cycle is normal moving forward and i’ll be in my TWW in two weeks! Eeee xx

Hope AF hasn’t been too bad and I have everything crossed that the next cycle is more normal for you 🤞 roll on TWW! Xx

Mammyplease · 04/11/2024 18:53

6dpo here today, feeling like I did on my first with implantation cramps and really tired. If I start to feel sick in the next few days I'll be tempted to test at the weekend. Could of course be the build up to Af coming as well 🥴 hoping we get lots more positives this month🙏good luck everyone x

@Kateb149 @Sugarcube84 @MyGardenDaisies hopefully the TWW will be less lonely if we have each other to go mad with! Although if we follow @MyGardenDaisies mindset i think we'll be ok!

@Liyoness that's so lovely 😍

There's something amazing about these groups isn't there! I'm glad you feel less alone - sending love x

Sending love and baby dust! ✨ we can do this all together! Xx

Yea, advice is that you should get 4 solid hours sleep before measuring BBT. However the natural cycles quiz asks about shift work/sleep pattern so maybe they can make some allowances for it.
I am very fortunate to have regular sleep and no disruptions. My mum has always been a bad sleeper and has recently trained to be a nurse (in her 60s) and does a lot of night shifts. I have no idea how she does it!

Thankyou maybe I'll take a look into it and see.

I worked night shift only for 5 years, couldn't do it now! Only do the odd one here and there now in an emergency or for some extra ££. Just a mix of early starts and later nights.

@CoolSummer89

I've never tracked BBT as my understanding was that you needed to have a regular sleep cycle for it to be accurate... which I definitely don't (hello shift work, insomnia, children and pets).

Am I correct in thinking this?

Also... Who else is in the TWW?

I'm 2 DPO. Tested at 9DPO last month because I had spotting (which turned out to be early AF by 5 days).

Can anyone explain to me what a chemical pregnancy is?
Could coming on period 5 days early be a chemical pregnancy? Very very early loss?

Thanks! Xx

I’m in the TWW too! 8DPO today and feeling sooo different to previous months. I have no urge to do a test which is new for me 😅 i’m trying not to stress and just looking after myself. AF is due on Saturday so we’ll just wait and see if I miss that🤞

Trying for baby 1. Got too caught up with watching tww videos first try a few months back and convinced myself I was pregnant (I was not). Then had low iron which I fixed, then last cycle was ready to try and we both got flu.. was almost comical suggesting we DTD with a cough and a runny nose.. the only hot thing was my fever.
So healthy now and have done the right things this time around, hopes not too high and will just wait for AF this time around. Best wishes to you all.

Liyoness · 04/11/2024 14:43

Sending hugs to you all today ..

I don’t know any of you by name, but for the first time in 9months, I feel less alone .. 🤗

CoolSummer89 · 04/11/2024 14:22

@SRK88 You're right that six months isn't super long, but I know the feeling of dread when you hit 4-6 months and you think "perhaps something is wrong?". It's great that you're getting tests now to put your mind at ease. I think we're told that 35+ is some fertility death sentence, but it's really not.

I have been doing BBT for the past 8 months and it has really helped me with cycle tracking. I went a bit overboard and used three apps at the beginning and now I am only using one: natural cycles. I have a 20% off code here if you want to try it out: https://www.naturalcycles.com/refer-a-friend?name=x&code=referralid20&referral=osdr0b78b9zao2n1

Pros (in my opinion): free thermometer (or you can use apple watch if you have one), a partner mode so my husband gets a notification when it's right time to DTD, educational notifications, tracking whether cycle is regular. It also has a pregnancy mode and a post-partum mode, so can follow you through pregnancy and beyond. Cons: it's £70 a year. However I would not be putting my menstrual cycle data into anything free because that just means your data is up for sale.

A cheaper way is buying your own BBT thermometer on amazon and then using Fertility Friend (also paid for but cheaper and you can pause if you need a break) or Premom (which lots of people use for OPKs). I was using both of these but found the app experience not as good as Natural Cycles.

Yes, ladies, the time will pass anyways so makes sense to have a hopeful week regardless of the outcome, plus the stress doesn’t help either. X

Very wise!

Hi guys 👋
I'll jump on this as well TTC #2
First is almost 6
I'm 40 now so hoping things are still working as they should 🙏
First cycle
Period due around 10th Nov.

SRK88 · 04/11/2024 12:50

Hi Ladies, Just wanted to put my thoughts down. I'm 36, husband is 32. Been trying to conceive for 6 months. I stopped the pill and my period returned the next month. I've been tracking my cycle, ovulation tests etc. This is the 6th month of TTC. I know that's not very long in comparison to some ladies, and reading some of the struggles and the journeies people have been through is tough.

I've been a bit worried as my cycle length has varied between 26-33 days, so think mabye we might are missing the ovulation timing. Does anyone use the body temperature method to see if ovulation has happened? its not something I've been doing, but might try it.

I spoke to my GP and we are getting some checks done this week. I'm getting a blood test for 21 day progesterone test and husband will be getting sperm test just to see if there might be anything that is causing an issue, otherwise we will continue trying.

Im in the TWW, 3dpo today and trying to keep myself busy. Had a new en-suite done last month so I’m going to decorate my sons bedroom so that should distract me

CoolSummer89 · 04/11/2024 12:23

@MyGardenDaisies I am also at 5dpo. Equally feel strangely calm. I know I will be itching to test in 4 days, but I am going to try and hold out for missed AF tho! Best of luck, we'll get through it somehow 🙃

@Wondergirl1111 a chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage, basically a loss just before, around or after when AF would usually arrive.

Sometimes there is something wrong with the fertilised egg and the uterine walls act as a kind of quality control after implantation. When it knows that a pregnancy wouldn't be successful, it will reject it and that causes a chemical pregnancy. It is devastating, but ultimately our bodies doing the right thing for us in the long run.

Having a period arrive early could be due to lots of things, including a chemical, so wouldn't like to say either way!

Morning!
I am 4/5 DPO and quite enjoying this, as I’ve shifted from waiting to have this window of hope. I know that either it will be pregnancy or AF and upset next Tuesday, so I have this time to have hope and optimism. Not going to test until missed period.

This is very positive mindset! I am going to take inspiration from you and try and shift it to something similar to yours 🤗 thank you for the positivity xxx

@Lemonyfire so sorry for your loss 😞💕 sending baby dust for coming months x

@Nico89 sorry to hear this. Happened to me last month... Don't beat yourself up for being hopeful and defo not for testing early! We've all been there - be kind to yourself x

@Butterflygirl23 - let us know what they say! Did you test at all after you thought you miscarried at 5 weeks or is this the first time since then? Still baffles me that we are just supposed to write off losses before 12 weeks. Really hopeful for you!

@Confusedmermaid1 look into myo-inositol. I lost my period due to stress and it was also much longer after some health complications, so my gynaecologist and endocrinologist recommended I take myo-inositol supplement, which is for regulating cycle. It’s non prescription, tasteless pill or powder and has done wonders for me! Pricey around 25£/month, but I will continue on it until pregnant

Confusedmermaid1 · 04/11/2024 09:41

@CoolSummer89 you might be right about ovulation because I’ve had a higher result today 😅 if it follows my usual pattern I’ll get peak tomorrow so hopefully we can make up for the few missed days over the weekend anyway

Had a MMC in July so I know it hasn’t been very long really but my cycles seem to be getting less normal for me as time goes on rather than more normal which is slightly worrying me but we will just have to wait and see how the rest of the month goes..
