Hi all,
Starting a thread for people who are TTC/testing in November 2024.

A bit about me. I am TTC#1. I'm 35 and DH is 36, we have been trying since Dec 2023 and this will be our 13th cycle! We've had some basic tests and all seem to be OK, but GP referred us to fertility clinic today. So feel like we're entering the next stage of TTC.

Fertile week is next week. I'm not going to test until a missed period, which will be 14th Nov.

There were a lot of positives in the October thread so hopefully we're as lucky! 💖

@Sunflowersandmoons not helpful but I honestly felt no symptoms when we were trying for our son. I was fully expecting a negative (especially as it was our first month.. wish it was that easy this time!). Doesn't mean it isn't a symptom for you though! Got my BFP with him at 10DPO (first day I tested).

@LifeonMarss massive congratulations! 🥳 x

I’m having a bit of a wobble. I’ve been with my partner for 6 years and I’ve never been on BC whilst with him (except for the first few months when I still have a coil in, can’t exactly remember when I had that taken out)

I keep telling myself that we’ve only just started trying but really, it could have happened at any time in the last 5 years and now I’m thinking that maybe I’m kidding myself to think it will ever happen. He was told he had a low sperm count back when he was married (like 15 years ago) but in recent months I’ve started him on Proceive Max and I’m cooking him more nutritious meals to try and increase things.

Maybe he has had a low sperm count all this time. Or maybe we haven’t been DTD at the right time because I’ve never tracked my period let alone whether I was ovulating. (Why did they only teach us how NOT to get pregnant in school and how it “only takes once”, why didn’t they teach us the truth of it!)

Just had the panic come over me this evening that maybe it’s not going to happen and I’m kidding myself.
Is it rational to think that maybe a combination of better nutrition and vitamins will increase sperm count, and that along with tracking ovulation and BBT that there is some possibility of being a Mum. Or am I kidding myself?

thanks for reading, I’ve got no real life friends to ask

@QuirkyPiglet please try not to stress yourself out ❤️ I’m assuming before TTC you were using other methods to avoid pregnancy considering you weren’t on BC?

if you are really worried, you could get yourselves tested just to put your mind at ease. But so many women fall pregnant with men who apparently have low sperm count - it only takes one after all! You have so many options out there if you need a helping hand so don’t panic xx

Sunflowersandmoons · 02/11/2024 00:24

Has anyone that’s been pregnant before ever experienced leg aches before a BFP? I know that’s a random one but I’m now 9dpo and since yesterday my legs have been quite tight and crampy. I regularly go to the gym and run and haven’t had this feeling before. Probably just more symptom spotting, driving myself crazy 😂

MrsSMxx · 01/11/2024 23:28

Ladies thanks for your replies @LolaJ87 thank you I'll keep your recommendation, I'll try edit my diary and see if it changes my dates x

I was under the impression that the static smiley means you will be peak fertility for 8 hours then ovulate? (thats why it stays on the screen for 8 hours then goes off and you stop testing that month) so no point DTD after that.

have I misunderstood?

Yes, I think you have misunderstood it. The way I’ve read and understood it, the static smiley means you will ovulate around within 12-36 hours. It stays showing on the test stick for 48 hours and you stop testing.

By the Sperm meets egg plan, you’d DTD for 3 days in a row when you get the peak, miss a day and then DTD once more.

Nico89 · 01/11/2024 22:02

Ladies please help give me the strength to not test yet....

I'm only 9dpo but I'm utterly exhausted, nauseated, cramping..

I was so convinced that this cycle would be a no chance as its first proper cycle since stopping BC (and I'm never that lucky), but I can't shift this feeling and all the symptoms which are so similar to my other pregnancies, but I know it's too soon to test accurately.

LolaJ87 · 01/11/2024 21:56

@QuirkyPiglet so have you basically been having unprotected sex for 5 years? He really needs to go get his sperm tested if that’s the case, so you know what you’re working with.

MyGardenDaisies · 01/11/2024 21:32

@QuirkyPiglet why don’t you go get tested together, see where you’re at. How long have you TTCd together ?

QuirkyPiglet · 01/11/2024 21:21

MyGardenDaisies · 01/11/2024 20:45

@lovealways97 I don’t think you’ve wasted your chance, hopefully it will be static tomorrow!
I would suggest also monitoring cervical mucus, you’ll notice that you start getting the egg white cervical mucus consistency and then you get the static smiley.

lovealways97 · 01/11/2024 20:42

MyGardenDaisies · 01/11/2024 20:34

@lovealways97 the static appears and then ovulation is 12-36h after.
But you’re supposed to DTD in the 4 days before peak, on peak and the day after.
statistically you’re more likely to get pregnant from sex in the days leading up to ovulation (flashing smiley or day of peak smiley), which correlates with Sperm Meets Egg main idea that sperm should be already there waiting for egg to be released.

don’t quote me though I’m also new to this 😂

Edited

brilliant thank you, we are a same sex couple using donor sperm so only get 1 shot each month, which was yesterday (3rd day of flashing smileys) we thought the static would be today but the little bugger was flashing again. hope we haven't wasted our chance

Hi, I’d like to join you all! Had static smiley on Saturday, so DTD Sat, Sun, and tonight. Also DTD every day that I had the flashing smiley, so hoping we’ve covered all bases this month!

Currently cycle 5, TTC #2. AF due 10th Nov, so hoping not to test before that…

I know it’s faint but is this my positive? I’m shaking and have convinced myself its not real and I’ve accidentally bought ovulation tests instead of pregnancy tests (I’m so anxious so this sounds so ludicrous sorry)

It definitely looks positive to me!!
Congratulations 😃😃

@LifeonMarss that is absolutely a positive! How exciting! You win the thread 😁First of the month and a BFP!

My first time winning anything and I’m taking it. The joys of my cycle starting on the 3rd of the month

Sunflowersandmoons · 01/11/2024 16:46

@LifeonMarss thats definitely a very clear positive, congrats ❤️ how many dpo are you?

I’m 11 days PO, I was trying to hold off and wait for 14 days but I’ve felt so nauseous in work all day that I decided to check when I got home as it had been playing on my mind all day💗

Nico89 · 01/11/2024 16:25

Hi 👋
C#1, TTC #3.
Currently CD28, 9dpo
With my previous pregnancies I experienced a short luteal phase (11 days) and a couple of chemical whilst TTC., so according to flo app AF due in 3days.
I'm currently feeling absolutely exhausted 😩, tender boobs (specifically nips), and some cramping. I'm trying not to get my hopes up at all since its only out first proper cycle since coming off BC, but very similar symptoms to my previous lucky cycles.
It took a lot of conversations and decision making to get to this point so I'm very anxious about it all.

Hi ladies, thanks for creating the thread. We have been TTC for 10 months but inbetween I had a miscarriage. This is my first cycle trying after my miscarriage. I Had my fertile week this week. I got a positive opk on Tuesday and we managed to have sex two days before ovulation and a day after so hoping that's enough. Feeling so nervous about trying/getting pregnant after my recent miscarriage I was 11 weeks pregnant when I miscarried x

Sorry for your loss. It definitely makes the TTC process a bit more scary doesn’t it.
I had a miscarriage earlier this year and we only felt ready to try again recently. I had my peak on Tuesday so sounds like we’re at the same point in our cycles.
Wishing you lots of luck for this month 🤞
