Hey everyone moving over from the ttc sept 2024 thread. Very light start to period today. Expect to start tomorrow with negative pregancy tests. Thought id dip my toes in and start a wee thread.

Little bit about me. Im 35 years (soon to be 36 in oct...a birthday bfp would be lovely) been ttc since jan this year. This will now be cycle 10 for me. I have a 8 year old daughter with my ex and had to have ivf/icsi to have her due to his low sperm count. My new partner and i have been together now 2 and a half year and would love to extend our family.

So far i have had day 21 bloods which confirmed that i am ovulating and waiting to hear back regarding his SA results.

Please feel welcome in joining this thread and sending postive pregnancy vibes to all 😍

@MyGardenDaisies So when I used the clear blue 4 days I had the smileys for so many days I thought it was too long a fertile window (also exhausting haha) The month after I used again alongside the strips and they pinpoint the progression in Lh and the surge so you can see your peak, if testing after this you can also see it go back down which I found way more useful than just the clear blue smiley. I've read others saying they use the basal temperature which helps confirm that you've actually ovulated, I haven't tried this yet though!x

MyGardenDaisies · 24/09/2024 16:29

@katsworld24 it says 4 or more fertile days.
What I struggle with this the idea that I can’t actually test whether or not I ovulated and when exactly, or if I just had the hormone surge.
The CB digital test will show the solid smiley face when the hormone surge happens, which does coincide with the egg white type cervical mucus, but it’s still not 100% guaranteed you ovulate or when exactly.
for example:
I could get static smiley on day 17, ovulate on day 19 (as the smiley shows for 48h), and have a 29 day cycle, which would make it a short luteal phase <11 days.

Or is it likely that I ovulate on day 17 when I get the static smiley?

omg why is this not tought at school 🥲😅

LS888 · 24/09/2024 16:10

@MyGardenDaisies i also have a short luteal phase. Normally ovulate around day 19. My last cycle it was day 21 and I have a 28/29 day cycle. so think that’s why I didn’t have any luck this cycle.

I had a really odd cycle last month- maybe due to the mmc. But I had 4 days of spotting (starting on day 28) before real period started. If I count the day real bleed started then my cycle was 31 days. So odd.

katsworld24 · 24/09/2024 15:56

@MyGardenDaisies I think your LP sounds fine. I was worried about this myself as mine was short for the first 2 months after coming off the pill, but have heard this is pretty common whilst your body is adjusting? Also there is some conflicting info online about what is considered as short! I think it's the days between ovulation and period starting.
Mine has now increased to 13 days.
Did you buy the clear blue 4 most fertile days or 2? 😊

MyGardenDaisies · 24/09/2024 15:27

Actually just recounted on my fingers lol and my luteal phase is 12 days so on the shorter side but in the normal range still 😅

MyGardenDaisies · 24/09/2024 15:25

@AmberM223 @katsworld24 so similar then!
good luck to us! Hopefully this cycle is the one! ☺️
I’m trying to keep some excitement about TTC and be hopeful, as it’s overwhelming isn’t it?

I just got a new box of Clear Blue Ditial Ovulation tests. I think the box could last me 2 cycles if needed, but it is rather expensive.

I’ve been reading about short luteal phases (the “ 2 week wait”) as my ovulation hormone surge last cycle was day 17, but cycle was 29 days. I read that a short luteal phase is anything less than 11 days.
Technically my luteal phase is 11 days if I ovulated on cycle day 18 ( the day after the surge), but worried if 11 days is too short for the egg to implant ?

🫣🤔 anyone knows more about luteal phase of when to even start counting ? Is it from the day I get a static smiley face (hormone surge) on the Clear Blue digital tests?

katsworld24 · 24/09/2024 14:03

@AmberM223 I've been using the opk sticks from Amazon, I used alongside clear blue 1 month to see which was better and think the cheapies are best. I ovulate quite late, day 20/21 with 32/33 day cycle. But this month ovulation was 23 x

AmberM223 · 24/09/2024 13:59

@MyGardenDaisies exact same first cycle for our 1st! I usually ovulate anywhere between CD 16-20 (i think!!) so decided to use the sticks this month! I’m not sure how to approach it, DTD everyother day from tomorrow 😂 or just a few times the day before/ day of and day after ovulation. Finding it stressful already!
Fingers crossed for us both!

MyGardenDaisies · 24/09/2024 13:53

@AmberM223 we are nearly the same then! Second cycle TTC nr 2 and nr 1 took only 1 cycle to make.

im on cycle day 6 and tend to ovulate around day 17

AmberM223 · 24/09/2024 13:45

Hey everyone! i’m on CD10 2nd month of TTC number 2! App says ovulating on the 1st Oct but my cycle was a little longer last month than usual so i have started using ovulation sticks so i want to see if this matches the app!
It was super easy to conceive #1 and now i’m feeling anxious it won’t be easy, i think you read soooo much about people struggling for the 2nd???
Good luck to everyone trying!✨👶🏼

Duckwars · 24/09/2024 11:25

Hey! Plonking myself in here as due af 7th October. I don't do any checking temp etc to see when I ovulated so have no idea when I've actually ovulated, had my usual pains and dtd before, during and after those pains so fingers crossed for a bfp in Oct.

This will be baby number 3. There will be a big age gap but looking forward to going through it all again.

Oct is a busy month for us due to most of our birthdays and wedding anniversary so im hoping the tww will be easier as have lots of planning to keep my mind off things.

Good luck to you all!

BeBluntDuck · 24/09/2024 11:06

Hi everyone.

I’m 37 and will be properly starting ttc our second in December but we’ve not been using protection since July. We are meant to pause trying now until December because SIL is getting married next summer, but neither of us really want to.

My husband travels for work so he’s only home 3 nights a week which is a bit of a struggle. Next year I think we are going to look to plan leave from work to make sure we’re together when we need to be, just hoping my cycle stays pretty regular so that that’s actually feasible.

Nicola1988 · 24/09/2024 10:49

@Pipersgirl im look im cylce day 8 today. Need to start dtd tonight. Just been feeling so meh about it all. Im cycle 10 now so just feeling so anxious and stressed by it all x

@CoolSummer89 thank you. Yes I'm taking folic acid & vit D. He's just started a male fertility multivit so I'm guessing that may take a while to work! Hoping to convince him to do a SA in the next couple of months around 6mth mark.
AF would be due this Sunday and already feeling very irritable like pms, so I'm guessing I'm out this month!x

LS888 · 24/09/2024 08:27

I’m jumping on from the September thread. This is our second cycle after having a mmc in July. We have a 13 month little girl. I’m 38 so wanted to have two but feel like time is ticking.

I’m trying to improve my diet. I’ve just read the book Fertile by Emma Cannon and loosely following some of her recommendations. Less processed food, no added sugar, no caffeine, no alcohol, lots of fruit and veg. Keeping active. I’m currently doing the cleanse it recommends - a lot about relaxation too! It does make a lot of sense if anyone likes to read!

I’ve been taking folic acid and a multivitamin daily since the mmc. But this month have order from DHA with omega 3 and some CoQ10. Hoping that will help with egg quality. But it says it can take 3-4 months to effect egg quality. Oh and I’ve also ordered some pressed. Think we might try the SMEP this month too. Is is DTD every other day until futile window? Can any give more details. I’m currently CD8

Pipersgirl · 24/09/2024 07:05

Hey guys how is everyone getting on?

I’m coming into ovulation week now- CD8 today. Unsure how things will go this cycle after a chemical last month, so we are going to aim at every other day for the next two weeks (hah wish us luck! 🤣) in case ovulation is early or late.
I always feel optimistic at this time of the cycle, and struggle more mentally with the TWW- after last month though I’m going to try and stop early testing to avoid the heartache of seeing another chemical. This month I’m adamant to just wait until my period arrives (or doesn’t arrive 🤞🏻) rather than squinting at tests from 8DPO which is what I usually do haha!
I hope everyone is doing ok! Xx

MrsGingerCat · 24/09/2024 00:17

Hi all 😊

Hope it's OK for me to join. I'm 34 and got married in February, we're trying for our first. We haven't been using any protection since then but haven't been actively trying or tracking. We are starting ttc as of my October cycle. I'm taking my vitamins.

Completely new here, so I'm off to Google key terms and abbreviations 😂 I know the main ones(ttc, dpo and so on) but there are some I've not yet heard of!

Sending everyone all the luck ✨️ x

Nicola1988 · 23/09/2024 21:38

@CoolSummer89 its mad the wait times on the nhs. We were fortunate to only have to wait 2 months for my partners SA , that was us getting a cancellation. Still waiting to hear back results and that was 3 weeks ago xx

CoolSummer89 · 23/09/2024 14:59

Hi all CD2 here of cycle 11 😖fertile window is next week so will try and feel more positive for then 🙃

@katsworld24 no harm him getting an SA if you're worried. But 4 months isn't that long when people have a 1 in 7 chance of getting pregnant each month. Are you and he taking fertility supplements?

I listened to a good podcast on male fertility which made me realise that my DH has some medical history that could affect his fertility and he is getting an SA next month (finally after waiting 5 months for an NHS appointment!)

I think it was this episode, but all the episodes are very good: https://hannahpearn.com/2023/09/01/20-fertility-testing-part-3-what-tests-can-be-done-for-male-fertility/

20. Fertility Testing Part 3- What tests can be done for male fertility? - Hannah Pearn

Male factor issues are becoming increasingly recognised in fertility problems, but still not enough is done for male testing & investigations

rebecca199 · 23/09/2024 08:58

Hello all - joining while TTC #2. We had a loss last cycle, expected ectopic but my body resolved on its own thankfully so no surgery.
I got a positive ovulation test today however we decided to wait until next cycle to try which should also be October!
Good luck to everyone xx

Mrscmay17 · 22/09/2024 22:25

@MyGardenDaisies thank you.

It took 3 months to get bfp then mc happened, I took a bit of time before trying again so it took about 15 months

I had a lovely pregnancy/birth then ironically much easier then my first but it was just so tough after mc I couldn't let myself believe until baby actually arrived.

katsworld24 · 22/09/2024 22:09

Hey, can I join?
Currently 6dpo on cycle 4 of ttc.
I'm 31 and boyfriend is 37, neither have children before. However he was previously trying to conceive with ex wife about 8 years ago for 6 months with no luck. She immediately fell pregnant with new partner, would this sound like something of concern regarding fertility?

MyGardenDaisies · 22/09/2024 21:47

@Mrscmay17 good luck to you ! :)

if not a secret, how long did it take you to conceive nr2?

Mrscmay17 · 22/09/2024 19:21

Hi all can I join please 🥰
First month ttc #3, I'm 32 Just finished contraception/ started vitamins, not really expecting much this month. We were super lucky conceiving #1 but #2 took a long time with a mc in between.

We decided to try for #3 a couple of months ago but I got cold feet worrying about how difficult it was ttc #2. But this time I'm ready to give it a good shot. Hopefully it is a great a month for us all 🥰

Pricklypickles · 22/09/2024 14:10

Hi All, please may I join too.
Early 30s with a soon to be 3 year old. We've been trying for #2 for a few months. Hoping this month we'll get lucky but we'll see!
Currently day 2 of a brand new cycle so still feeling a bit down in the dumps things didn't work out last month at the moment.
