Hey everyone moving over from the ttc sept 2024 thread. Very light start to period today. Expect to start tomorrow with negative pregancy tests. Thought id dip my toes in and start a wee thread.

Little bit about me. Im 35 years (soon to be 36 in oct...a birthday bfp would be lovely) been ttc since jan this year. This will now be cycle 10 for me. I have a 8 year old daughter with my ex and had to have ivf/icsi to have her due to his low sperm count. My new partner and i have been together now 2 and a half year and would love to extend our family.

So far i have had day 21 bloods which confirmed that i am ovulating and waiting to hear back regarding his SA results.

Please feel welcome in joining this thread and sending postive pregnancy vibes to all 😍

Hi! Hoping to join you all😊 TTC our 2nd, going for a ‘relaxed’ approach which I’m not sure exists for me🤣 I haven’t had a period postpartum yet as I’m breastfeeding but I think I ovulated this month as had ewcm. I was desperate to do some LH tests but managed to restrain myself

CoolSummer89 · 06/10/2024 19:13

Hi @MamaSads I'm CD15/2DPO. When do you usually ovulate? I have been trying for 11 cycles now and have recently decided to prioritise getting fit over TTC. Just feels like a more positive thing to focus on, so I can stop obsessing over something I can't fully control. My BMI is 25 but I'm trying not to focus too much on weight.

Hi @LifeonMarss I don't have much experience of irregular periods as mine have always been 26-28 days. When I first started TTC I listened to this podcast which was a great explainer of what an 'ideal' period is like. https://hannahpearn.com/2023/03/30/what-can-your-period-tell-you-about-your-fertility/

Exciting about the new house @Nicola1988 and great that you have something to distract yourself with over the next few days.

I was on the pregnancy boards last week and saw that a mumsnetter had an accidental pregnancy aged 48 and is progressing well! I know that's unusual but just trying to calm myself down as freaking out a bit as I will turn 36 in Jan.

Best of luck to everyone! 🤗

Hey guys I'm Karen and I'm currently 7dpo ttc number 3! Had a miscarriage back in June at 11 weeks with an unplanned pregnancy and it made us realise we would love another child to add to our 2 boys (aged 8 and 10). My husband is 50 and I'm 38 but we are both very young at heart! Lol we have been trying since July.

Anyone else due next weekend? I'm gna have to try very hard not to test early but it's so hard! Last month I was CONVINCED I was pregnant but I wasn't. So going to Try very hard not to over analyse symptoms this month 🥴

Nicola1988 · 06/10/2024 18:48

Cycle day 20 here i just not able to bring myself to test this month. Too scared of the disappointment. Get the keys to my new house tomorrow so ill my time is being spent packing boxes and cleaning so at least keeping my mind off the tww slightly x

@han311 we were keen to have a small gap but tbh I wasn’t 100% sure about it when we initially started trying again after having my daughter. Postpartum and early days are hard!! We got pregnant on the first month of trying back in May but then I had a mmc in July. Think that has made me reevaluate and I definitely do want another and feel more ready now. Here’s hoping we have positives this month.

The only thing I will say about OPKs is that I didn’t realise I was ovulating late until I used them. And would have just assumed day 14/15 but actually I’m more like day 19.

LifeonMarss · 06/10/2024 18:14

Hoping it’s okay to hop on here, I’m 26 and TTC our first. I’ve been taking vitamin D3 and folic acid recently to try and help me.
im a bit anxious as I’ve had my cycle change recently and had one 38 day cycle which isn’t normal for me as usually I’m 32/33 days and since then my periods have only lasted for around 4 days and I’m ovulating around day 10/11 on my cycle meaning I have a short follicular phase but a longer luteal phase.
hoping it’s just me over thinking things or it’s stress related as recently started a new job but I’m sending lots of positivity and hoping you all get your positive tests this month

MamaSads · 06/10/2024 16:29

CD9 for me this month, anyone the same? Feel so nervous, second month ttc but took us nearly a year with my dd and that was 7 years ago. Taking folic acid but concerned about my weight, bmi is 30.5 , last time was 25. Is anyone else actively trying to get fit/lose weight as well? I'm only 5ft 1 so a few pounds will help a lot but I'm not getting anywhere haha!

han311 · 06/10/2024 15:45

@LS888 thank you lovely ☺️ no they really don't have half a clue do they 😂 I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I've not used OPKs before but will consider if we don't have any luck this first few months. It's hard when it feels like the clock is ticking. I will be 34 in a few weeks. Would just love to not have too big of a gap, my daughter just turned 3. Took a while to even feel like I could go through it all again after a tough birth and postpartum last time xxx

LS888 · 06/10/2024 09:01

@han311 welcome! The wait is so tough isn’t it. And agree the dads don’t quite go through the same experience. I had my peak opk yesterday so ovulating imminently. We have tried smep this month on our second month of trying. Timed intercourse is hard 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 but know it’s the best way to make sure we do it at the right time and get the best chance. I’m 38 so can’t leave it up to chance.

Hi all, we've been trying for over 8 months now and I'm freaking out a bit as I'm 16dpo and my line is fairly light. With my first the lines were a lot darker hence the worry. We are leaving the country this week and worried this might be ectopic/ chemical. Soo scared if it is .. how will I manage it in the foreign country... Is there anyone who had faint lines this late and it was all good? Thank you in advance :))

Congratulations!!!!!! My line with my daughter on 14dpo was super duper faint, she's just turned 3! You may have implanted on the later side that's all. Just keep testing to make sure it gets darker 🥰

han311 · 05/10/2024 23:57

Hi! Is it OK to join? TTC #2 and in desperate need of people to share it all with aside from my poor OH 😂 I'm CD17 only 2dpo and already going mad! AF isn't due til 18/10 so I'm in for a long wait. Why is it all so stressful??? lol xx

Lilie123 · 05/10/2024 19:31

@LS888 thank you lovely! Just need to keep my nerves down until then.. My first one just turned two and I already forgot how worrying it can all be 🥲

MyGardenDaisies · 05/10/2024 19:15

@LS888 18months :)

@Lilie123 Congratulations! ❤️ I used different brand tests in my first pregnancy so not sure. I would just do the Clear Blue week indicators until you get 3+, then go for an early heartbeat scan at 7 weeks and 12 week NHS

Tadpolecat · 05/10/2024 19:13

@LS888 Our son will be 3 in January. Sometimes he's a lot (probably just all toddlers tbf!) and we couldn't bear to do it any sooner😅 but equally, don't want a huge gap!

@Tadpolecat @MyGardenDaisies how old are your little ones? I have a 14 month old.

MyGardenDaisies · 05/10/2024 16:54

@Tadpolecat I am exactly the same as you, 2nd cycle trying for nr2, and 1st was one hit wonder haha

Tadpolecat · 05/10/2024 15:48

Hi, please can I join! CD1 for me today, cycle 2 trying for baby no2. Fell first try with our son so now I'm anxious that it won't be as easy this time around! Early days I know but I'm a worrier in all aspects of life😬

ThatSnugSwan · 05/10/2024 10:19

I got this positive opk yesterday morning and we DTD last night, we also DTD Wednesday night too, really hoping we caught it in time 🤞

Pipersgirl · 05/10/2024 07:02

@lochmaree this sounds promising! When will you test?

@MyGardenDaisies Every single cycle I say I’m going to hold off testing until my period is late, but every time I’m peeing on sticks by 8DPO (9 if I’m really restrained). My plan is to try and hold out until this time need week so my husband and I can check together on Saturday morning, when I will be roughly 12DPO (I don’t currently do ovulation sticks but have a pretty regular 27/28 day cycle). It sounds like a solid plan, but I make zero promises that I won’t be posting ridiculous pics of sticks at 6DPO because apparently I like peeing money away 🤣🫠

When I get some tests 😂 ordered some cheapies off eBay but they've not arrived yet. The only ones I've got atm are nearly 3 years out of date 😬

HighSir · 05/10/2024 09:09

Just had my high opk, currently day 8. Typically my husband is full up of cold. Hopefully we'll dtd over the weekend. Hope everyone else is doing ok 😊

MyGardenDaisies · 05/10/2024 08:16

@Pipersgirl haha last cycle, which was first cycle trying for this baby, I spent so much money on the digital advanced ultra early tests and must have used like 5, that’s, plus all the cheap ones to torture my eyes with line reading and inverting images…

@CoolSummer89 haha that’s me! I told my husband I’ll test when I miss my period and we will do it together, but now I am impatient 😂

LS888 · 04/10/2024 18:37

@MyGardenDaisies I use cheapies like easy at home to begin with then if there is a hint of something I use first response. Normally test over a week or so with a cheapie not every day but maybe every other and then do a digital for confirmation after a week of positive cheapies.
