Pip I love it.

DS1 was 'Lumpy' and with DS2 we knew he was a boy and picked the name so always called him 'Baby Ollie'

ChocolateEclair · 27/05/2008 16:24

my pee sticks were not to be done with 1st morning urine!!! I did them at 4pm-8pm as the LH hormone is produced during the morning. (I don't claim to be an expert tho!)

ChocolateEclair · 27/05/2008 16:21

afternoon ladies

My you have been chatty! Thanks for some more congratulations!!!!!

Willmouse -- I hope you are OK. I am worried about you again . I too was thinking I would come and take you to A&E if I lived nearer. Please make an appointment tomorrow [hopeful]

KNax - well done on holding off testing. i am suitably impressed! Myjob is the best as she manaed to hold off til AF was a week late I think but the rest of us weren't so good!

Mandy - I would do the opk sticks as well even if you can't BD. As I sort of said before, I ovulate somewhere around CD17-CD19. When we first started ttc we were BDing up to CD14 as that is when 'most' women ov!!! Now we know why we weren't getting pg! LOL Good luck if you and DH have 'the talk'

Hi to Babydrip - are you going to try the Agnus Castus then seing as it worked for me 1st month?????

Would anyone like my cheapie ebay opks???? You can have them for free and I will post shortly! Just let me know if anyone does!

Today I had a lovely day shopping in York with my Mum for her 'wedding outfit' for my dsis wedding in 2 months. She got a fab suit and we had a lovely lunch. I have got home and am ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTED!!!!! I can't actually believe how tired I am! I guess it's all downhill from here!!!!

She insisted on buying a little outfit for 'pip' as she is now refering to my pregnancy! LOL

Hoping Angel and BB are ok - not heard from them for a while

Finally Soosy - I have everything crossed for you for Friday . I feel a bit odd doing this but I guess I can officially send you some baby dust???

I really hope your FET is a success - you deserve it so much xx

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 16:21

Resist Knax............it will only end in disappointment! or not case the case may be!

I had a whopping month which I think was 38 days (I seem to have wiped it from my memory it was so bad) and wasted about £30 on tests before I finally satisfied myself that I wasn't pregnant!

Knax · 27/05/2008 16:18

fingers crossed for tomorrow morning then Mandy! I'm going to try and hold out for a few more days to test, as AF not due til at least thurs. Obsession is reaching fever pitch though!

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 16:16

Cross posted Mandy.

I can't really help as have never really used them. HC is best for all this and she has gone on holiday.

  1. Definitely the first wee of the day. Your wee is stronger so there is a higher concentration of hormones present.
  1. I think it is better to pee on a stick if you can manage it. If you are less mobile in the morning to pee in a cup is probably easier.
  1. DH would be completely disinterested in charting etc - although probably not first time around.
  1. I never realised it was that scientific. If you don't do it properly you probably wont trust the result (IME) so probably worth being quite anal for your own sanity's sake!
Mandy73 · 27/05/2008 16:14

PS: Wow! The Pee on a stick Website!
I love you Willmouse, just saw it.

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 16:12

I love pee on a stick although I am still none the wiser as to the best HPT to use. I suppose clearblue digital......although Tesco's is popular as well and was acurate with DS2!

Mandy73 · 27/05/2008 16:11

Wanted to ask you Fountains of Wisdom with OPK expertise (since I'm off to wee on a stick tomorrow morning):

  1. Is it always best to test 1st thing in the morning?
  2. Pee on stick vs Pee in Cup then dip? Pros & cons please?
  3. How involved are your DHs/DPs in the whole charting process, emotionally & practically?
  4. The (digital) OPK says it's bloody important to insert the stick right, hold it right, take it out right, blah blah blah - is it really that precious? I'm pretty clumsy in the morning.

Sorry. I'm totally useless. Just milking you.

Knax, fingers crossed...

Knax · 27/05/2008 16:08

Have just been looking at the "pee on a stick" website again, fascinating stuff, learnt loads.

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 15:59

I know that breast is best but that's just ridiculous!!!!!LOL

Perhaps it is possible to detect the hormone in breast milk. Yak (not to breastfeeding obviously but the presence of pregnancy hormone in breast milk)

I would just like to apologise in advance to any pregnant lady on this thread who is still breastfeeding....

Knax · 27/05/2008 15:40

Looks like we posted at same time - yeah I saw that. Why?

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 15:38

I've just been on that site again.......

My God, on some of the pictures people are testing for pregnancy with breast milk..........only in America!

Knax · 27/05/2008 15:38

Thanks Willmouse!! I read your info and the 2nd fainter line means that the test doesn't tell me anything at this stage!! (Same as a HPT, but not as sensitive!) Af could be due any day from Thurs, but I'm determined to try not to test until/ if AF is late, particularly as when I was pg with DS I tested with First response a few days before AF was due and it was neg.
You're a regular mine of information,
Hope all's well with you and you've sorted out what's happening with your cycle.
knax x

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 15:23

I've just read it again. It looks like they can predict pregnancy but usually later than a HPT. I think the second line should be darker than the first one if you are pregnant.

When are you due Knax?????

Oh, if only HC was here! That'll teach her to go off on holiday!

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 15:19

Knax - read this :-

www.peeonastick.com/opkhpt.html

Let me know if you understand what it says LOL!

Knax · 27/05/2008 14:50

silly question that someone may know the answer to... Although I'm not using a pg test stick yet because I'm resisting (Like you advised Myjob!), I did just use a persona stick for some reason, as I thought it may test the same hormone?! It had a 2nd fainter line on it and I am hoping that may be a good sign, but as it's not a pg testing kit but an ov testing kit it probably isn't. I know, i know, I'm kidding myself in testing using a non-pg testing kit. It's almost as barmy as peeing on a cotton bud (I haven't done that by the way!)

Good guess MJIM, I'm 18 weeks tomorrow, lol! Big scan is booked for 12th June, so 2 weeks on Thursday. I'm really excited, lol! I didn't want to find out, but hubby & the boys said they HAVE to know . We took a vote and I lost hands down, so we will be finding out if baby feels like sharing. I guess it isn't such a bad thing as one of my boys is going to end up upset as ds1 says girl, ds2 says boy. Oh dear!

As for the weight gain, I am really not the person to be asking as so far haven't gained a thing. I honestly have no appetite and have to force myself to have a little something to eat. I did start wondering if the pain was related to lack of food so have been forcing myself to eat even more, lol.

I did see a great link about pregnancy weight gain somewhere...

Ah, here it is! Makes me laugh that it is called Inian curry

www.indiacurry.com/women/pregcalc.htm

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 13:33

Hi Mjob! Glad you are well. I always pile the pounds on when pregnant with DS2 I was in my maternity clothes at about 9 weeks - don't worry about it. Could your boobs be bigger this time or you could have more fluid.

I have phoned NHS direct - they were no help at all so I still don't know what to do. I think I will just be sent away again and told to book in for a smear.

hey - no-one on this thread needs an excuse to pee on stick!

Heartmum2Jamie · 27/05/2008 11:56

Wow, you lots have been chatty!

Am very tired, so am not doing lots of individual mentions except for the ones that stick out.

First, CE!!! Congratulations hon!!! I am thrilled for you, obviously adventurous BD is the way forward, lol!

Willmouse, I'm sorry you are still bleeding on and off. I think calling NHS sounds like a good idea.

HC, sorry to hear about AF.

Good luck for Friday Soosy.

Had a busy day yesterday as was ds1's 7th birthday, so we went out for the day to the reaceway to watch banger racing and destruction derby, lol! Typical boyish thing to do! Weather held up but was very, very windy. Have been having stabbing abdo pain since Saturday, but was definately much worse last night after my busy day. Midwife came around to check all is well, thinks it is most likely muscular, either growing or pulled somehow. Baby sounds good which is the main thing. I feel like I am in a constant state of fear, roll on October I say!

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 11:55

Just use the sticks Mandy - hey - no-one on this thread needs an excuse to pee on stick! After all, you can always get the cheapie ones next time. Plus I would want to know if I'd ovulated even if I hadn't managed to do the deed!

I am going to phone NHS in a bit. I am trying to exchange contracts for a client - it was supposed to happen all last week and we are finally on for today so daren't pick up the bloody phone

Mandy73 · 27/05/2008 11:52

Thinking of phoning NHS direct.
Do it.

We probably won't meet CD 12 - 16. But I still want to know if I actually OV - and when?!?

MrsPuddleduck · 27/05/2008 10:06

Mandy - I would still use the sticks - you never know when you may ovulate and he may get back in time (how long is he away for?).

Thinking of phoning NHS direct.
