Welcome to the club that nobody wants to be a member of....just looking for others who are in a similar boat to me and fancy a safe space to moan and get some support.

For my part, we're currently TTC no.2 but have now been trying for 3 years, I had a MC in August 2022 but haven't had even a whisper of a line since then. Even though every month I know my tests are going to be negative I still stupidly get my hopes up and then feel crushed all over again - I'm the personification of that quote about insanity, doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result 😂 we had a chat with a fertility clinic last week so are likely starting treatment in the next couple of months though I'm hoping beyond hope that we can conceive before then as it's so crazy expensive!!

Anyway, hopefully there are some others out there that can relate and understand the pain of the never ending 2WW 😩

@takeabeat I completely agree, it's so ridiculous that IVF effectively becomes an option for those with means which is so unfair. I also think it totally unfair that just because I managed to have a child naturally the 1st time I now don't qualify for NHS treatment - surely infertility is a medical issue whether it's primary or secondary? 😭

I'm right at the beginning stages of the process tbh, we go for our tests next Thursday and then a plan will be made from there - if my hubby's results come back similar to our first experience however then ICSI will definitely be needed so I'm hoping we can start ASAP 🤞🏻

Hats off to you as well for considering other options, my colleague recently adopted a little boy and whilst it was the best thing she's ever done she said the process was absolutely awful. Hopefully your council will be easier to navigate if you decide to go down that route ❤️

Thanks @Stillwinston and you too. I don't know about fertility plans - sorry. Hopefully someone else does. 15k though!! Ooof. I hate that ivf is something that some people can afford without batting an eyelid and others just simply can't or have to scrape everything together for. It seems very unfair.

If we started ivf it would whenever my next cycle is but at the moment I'm not sure we will. Thinking about other options too - like adoption, although that would be something to think through very carefully to ensure we could be a good home for a child who needed it.

What about you in terms of timing?

Stillwinston · 16/08/2024 11:31

Anyone who's done IVF previously used/explored the access fertility plans? Started looking into the finance side of things and if we have to have ICSI (which is looking highly likely) then it's £15k at my London clinic (and that doesn't include the cost for the meds!!!) 😩

Stillwinston · 16/08/2024 11:09

Hi @takeabeat thanks for joining 😊 your situation and history sounds extremely tough and £8k is definitely not the kind of money you can just throw away on a whim! Whilst I know that 20% doesn't sound too positive at this stage, it's still a chance and hopefully your doctors wouldn't suggest treatment unless they felt there was some possibility of it being successful🤞🏻 when would you start ICSI if you decided to go for it?

Sending you a tonne of positivity and baby dust 💐

Hey OP

I'm in a very similar boat to you. First child took three years to conceive and surgery to clear endometriosis. Very high risk/physically difficult pregnancy and birth. My LO is now three, and we've been TTC basically for two years. Like you been told Icsi would be only route due to endo, one of my ovaries has no more eggs and the tube is totally blocked, and my DH bad sperm. Im also 40 so obviously that doesn't help. Basically the shittest of fertility hands!

At the point where I just don't know what we do. one round of ICSI would pretty much drain our savings (8k where we are) with less than 20% chance. I was told they aren't sure they could harvest eggs from me due to distortion on my ovary from endo and scars. It's a lot of money to throw on something that is likely to fail. Agh!

Stillwinston · 16/08/2024 10:09

Hi @Clocloxx and welcome 🤗 so sorry to hear that you're going through the same thing, secondary infertility really does suck 😩 when are you starting the next round of IVF? We're just kicking off the process for IVF now as we haven't really been able to justify the expense previously but I think we've got to a point where we have to give it a go or we'll always ask 'what if?'

My son is 4 in a couple of weeks, he has a speech and receptive language delay so luckily he doesn't ask me about having a brother or sister but I feel gutted whenever I see him with other kids as I know he'd love one. Does your daughter ask about having a sibling?

Sending virtual hugs, positivity and baby dust your way, hopefully this cycle will be the one for you 🤞🏻❤️

Same boat as you!! Ttc for 3 years now also for a second! My dd is 5, secondary infertility is so tough 😫 2 failed ivf rounds aswell, upped my doses of ubiquinol and mnm in hopes I'll fall pregnant naturally before we go off and spend the last of our savings on round 3..
How old is your 1st?

Stillwinston · 16/08/2024 09:30

Thanks @HappySquid - strangely though the spotting has stopped and now I'm 3 days late. Tests are negative so it seems my body is now playing tricks on me 🙄

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
HappySquid · 15/08/2024 20:31

@Stillwinston I'm so sorry re the spotting, it's rubbish isn't it? Sending a big hug your way and lots of luck to everyone here 💕

Stillwinston · 14/08/2024 21:18

@Wobblyheart @Ladyinpink1 @Allswellthatendswelll welcome 😁 really glad you've joined us though sorry you're all having to go through this too.

@Wobblyheart how amazing that you got you LO after such a long and difficult journey ❤️ I completely understand why you must be nervous about this 2nd time round, especially with a toddler - fortunately my son now sleeps through so I'm afraid I don't have any tips. I would just say to try and relax and rest whenever you can.

@Ladyinpink1 so sorry to hear about your MMCs, have you had any tests or investigations done at all?

@Allswellthatendswelll your experience sounds exactly the same as mine, we're also just about to start tests to determine whether ICSI or just standard IVF. And I completely understand what you mean about how hard secondary infertility is, you feel guilty for feeling so upset about it when you've already been lucky to have 1 child yet the yearning never goes away. Sending lots of positive vibes your way - have you tested at all?

@Stillwinston sorry to hear spotting has started. I hope you had lots of wine! I think I'm 10DPO and I have all my usual AF symptoms plus burning up so pretty sure I'll be joining you on the wine soon!

@Fairy0708 Will keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏻I think it's the fact that the whole thing is so visceral that it's that much harder to deal with every month. Hope you're doing ok ❤️

Allswellthatendswelll · 14/08/2024 18:12

Please can I join too? Also secondary infertility.

Trying for 18 months. I'm 36 and DS has just turned 3. He was conceived naturally but took almost a year.

Have recently found out DH has a low sperm count and poor morphology so waiting to find out if the recommendation is go straight to ICSI or we can do some other things first.

I know its not the same as Primary but Secondary infertility is so hard. I constantly stress about the age gap/ him being lonely when he's older!

Also my period is 3 days late but I've had horrible cramping so sure it's just my body playing up.

Ladyinpink1 · 14/08/2024 17:24

Hello, hoping I can join too 🙂 ttc #3 for 2 years next month, had 2 mmc in that time, am currently 6dpo on cycle 13 since the last loss. I am 3, find it funny typing my real age because in real life I have been telling everyone i'm 26... been 26 for a long time now must change it to 27 soon 😂)

Still very hopeful all the time but also have a feeling of "after so long, could it ever really happen" x

Wobblyheart · 14/08/2024 14:26

Stillwinston · 13/08/2024 07:12

I'm 38 so time is unfortunately not on my side either 😩

Hi OP! I am 38 too and have a history of unexplained infertility. We were TTC 7 years before doing 2 unsuccessful and 1 successful IVF rounds.

We are thinking about TTC no.2 now too and I am excited, anxious and slightly terrified as 1st pregnancy took a massive toll on my mental and physical health. So before we can actually start, I need a health MOT, better food and rest and build up some strength. Anyone else here have a toddler with broken sleep & have fatigue from it??

Fairy0708 · 14/08/2024 14:19

Confusedddddddd · 13/08/2024 15:25

@Stillwinston

In terms of relaxation I found it to be the same as having like 10 massages. However it could simply be just having 30 mins lying on a bed with no one expecting anything from me. I'm on my 3rd cycle since starting it now.
I don't believe in it much either but it's feeling like I'm doing something. Also as I'm 99% sure my issue is physical rather than egg quality or hormones it probably wouldn't make a difference whereas IVF certainly will.

Stillwinston · 13/08/2024 15:15

I think this is the one place where we can all relate to the perpetual urge to test and subsequent disappointment, why we do it to ourselves I'll never know 😂 hoping that this thread magically becomes super lucky and we all get our BFPs soon ❤️

@Stillwinston thank you for the welcome!
i feel so silly, i said to my best friend this time last year that we would be starting to try and by this time next year i could be preggo or even have a baba. I didn’t say, maybe if he loosing my mind day by day. it’s such a drain. And every month I swear I’m going to play it cool and just take it as it comes. Aim to focus on my good health and working towards being even more healthy and yet the second we get to 6/8dpo boom!!! 💥 I’m right back in the emotions.

Sending love to all you on here. It’s a rough road to walk x

I had Hycosy, AMH and SA back in April, everything was normal, other than my ovary. AMH 11 which a little low but seems normal for my age (38).

I've also been having acupuncture in the meantime, so far no results but it has definitely helped me with stress and plan to continue with it through IVF.

Think I'm definitely going to look into acupuncture though I can already see myself disbelieving it and not being able to relax 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Stillwinston · 13/08/2024 14:59

Welcome @Duckgirl - wish you didn't have to be part of this club though 😕 your journey sounds very tough and it's so frustrating when doctors dismiss your concerns because you don't fit the stereotype that they're working to 🙄 I also have fears that I'm perimenopausal so hopefully will get some answers in a couple of weeks when we go for our tests. Have you looked into fertility treatment at all?

Sending lots of positivity and baby dust your way ❤️

Hi, took me 7 years to conceive my second which I finally did at 41. Wishing you all the luck.

Amazing @Imalittlewitch 😀 thanks so much for the positive story, it's always nice to hear about success; you must have been so overwhelmed after waiting all that time ❤️

Hey ladies!! Can I join? I’m a mum of a 13yr girl. Swore I didn’t want anymore as it was so traumatic in various ways and I had to do it all alone.
then last year things started going weird and I got scared I was going into early perimenopause. so we decided to start trying. No answers from the docs on anything "because I’m only 33 and of course I could not be" also used to have a copper coil that I had for combined time of 12 years. Been trying a year without even a sniff of a line.
always had super heavy periods and now next to nothing since having coil removed. OH sperm count is low and I’m not sure there is enough of a lining in me for anything to implant anyway. Feeling lost, alone and a wreck. This has been harder than anything I had imagined.
currently 8dpo but feel already out as I think we missed the window due to ill health. Got one heart in on estimated O day but I think by then it would be too late.
worry for all the Info 🙈 good to get it all out you know

Hi @Confusedddddddd 🤗 I completely applaud you for going and getting on with IVF, in hindsight I wish we'd started 1 years ago but we just couldn't afford it and I was somewhat delusional that it would happen then next month....have you had any tests yet?
