TTC after loss part 5

Ella31 · 04/08/2024 18:18

Just continuing our old thread. I've added anyone who has asked to stay on here. As always, anyone who is trying after a loss is welcome to join and those who have been lucky since are welcome to encourage those who are still waiting for their rainbow (if you want to stay of course )

Also for the next thread, I'm going to let someone else take over creating the new one if people don't mind. I've a lot on at the moment with tests and I'm back to work in the next few weeks after my bereavement leave with my boys. So if anyone would like to take the mantle, feel free.

Im 2dpo today and have another ultrasound on Wednesday to see if follicle has burst followed by pdg blood test.

@Ella31 I've been on progesterone pessaries as well. It certainly won't harm will it. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Your scan comes round quickly and it's good news.
@ExTriTrying I see it on the second pic! 💕 I think it looks similar to my first FRER test which I think was 9dpo too!
Sending so much sticky dust to both of you.
Got my saying scan letter through today. 8 days to wait! Xx

DonnaWhat · 12/08/2024 18:26

@ExTriTrying Yay! Congratulations, I can see the line in the tests.

@Ella31 That worry will never leave you, but you've got this. We're all absolutely rooting for you xxx

@Superscientist I started ttc straight away. I got pregnant 2 months after mmc but ended in a chemical pregnancy. I'm now 2 cycles from that and due on on Friday / Saturday. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. I am guilty of this myself. The 2ww does something to me and sends me a bit doolally!

Thanks @ThelastRolo20 I can't get over how anxious I am. I've been given progesterone pessaries

I'm on the pessaries too and they never even checked my levels, hoping they will give us a little extra support for the pregnancy ❤

That's great, they'll help give you a boost! I can't begin to understand how you feel but I am hopeful for you - I found trusting in other people's optimism helpful x

You have as much chance as anyone else ❤️ You've had a really horrendous journey here but I'm going to tell you what you've been telling me - this is a completely new pregnancy ❤️ your body can absolutely support a pregnancy, your boys prove that xx

@Ella31 Yes, with DD I didn't test on a digital til 11 DPO (was positive, I remember being surprised as the First Response lines were still darker than 10DPO but v light), so I may wait til then just to avoid worrying myself!

Congratulations!! Mine at 9DPO looked so similar to yours 🥰

Ella31 · 12/08/2024 13:26

Doctor just said what you said. Do you think there's a chance for me. I'm 10dpo and normal digital was positive today

Edited

Can I ask about starting to try again after loss?
How long did you wait? I am back at the epu on Saturday for the next HCG test so I'll ask them too. I understand there's a benefit to waiting for your first period after loss for dating pregnancy. What did others do?

For my first loss, I started again straight away without waiting for a period. And it worked (but had another mc). If I remember my dates correctly, the mc was confirmed as complete on 8th April. Bleeding had pretty much gone but still getting faint positives. Then ovulated on the 21st April and by that time my pregnancy tests were negative. Then got my bfp on 1st May. It all happened very fast.

When the second ended in miscarriage, I decided to let myself have a period before trying. Partly to allow my body a break and partly to avoid medics who couldn't understand my LMP was before my first pregnancy (they seemed clueless at times).

First cycle after my break was bfn and just heading into fertile week of second cycle.

@Ella31 it's kind of hard to capture in a pic, but hopefully this helps. With DD, I'm sure it was lighter than this at 10dpo as I was really unsure if it was positive, whereas on these, it's a squinter in pics but clearly there IRL.

I can definitely see it in picture 2. So exciting. Will you get a digital

ExTriTrying · 12/08/2024 16:17

Even more so on here @Ella31 , I can barely see it on those uploads! It's fairly clear IRL but very light. I wasn't going to test til 10dpo, just based on how it was with DD, so I 100% would not be worried about faint lines atm.

I'm also still smiling for you @Ella31 !

Welcome @MrsS11 and @Superscientist .

I am 9DPO, and looking at two positive First Response tests. The lines are very light, but they are pink and solid. They're darker (from memory) than with DD at 10DPO, too (when I found out with her). Like most of you have said, I don't want to get excited. But I'm hopeful.

Oh wonderful. Have you pics

Superscientist · 12/08/2024 16:05

Thanks. I think I will probably partially wait for my first period, once getting the green light from the epu. Going with our moods rather than actively trying and go from there. The epu have said I can contact them at 5 weeks to arrange a scan if I conceive again and I think that would be less stressful with accurate dates. My sister had a non viable pregnancy and it was made trickier to figure things out as she had 2 possible dates 4 weeks apart and neither matched the scans.

I hope things regulate ok, the bleeding and pregnancy sickness have now stopped. Just more waiting. Delaying until after first period also means more time enjoying being able to eat as I had bad pregnancy sickness. I've never tracked ovulation or anything like that. When conceiving my daughter we started trying in August/September and I said I would go with the flow until the new year and I got my bfp a week before Christmas. I was going to wait 2-3 cycles this time but conceived on the second cycle.

ExTriTrying · 12/08/2024 15:47

@Superscientist I asked about this a lot. I was told (consistently) that the reason for waiting one cycle was for dating, and that there was no medical reason to wait for a period. I didn't fall pregnant the first cycle, and actually I did constantly worry that the lining might not be thick enough, etc, so whilst I was disappointed at the time, having that period was a reassurance.

It did take me 37 days to ovulate the first time after the D&C. But last cycle it was 30 days. From my (obsessive) Googling, a lot of people ovulate much sooner.

Figtree11 · 12/08/2024 15:46

@ExTriTrying amazing! These bfps seem to be coming thick & fast at the moment!

@Superscientist after my first loss I started trying once I got to negative. I did have 1 period though, then got pregnant after that.
Second loss I’m trying again now, 3 months later but had a partial molar so wasn’t allowed to try til I got cleared by the hospital

ExTriTrying · 12/08/2024 15:43

@Ella31 just catching up on the messages above. Re progesterone, I asked about this a lot throughout and after my miscarriage, I asked the nurses at the EPU and I also emailed Tommy's. Every source I spoke to said that progesterone only had an impact if you had previous miscarriages and were bleeding. However, as @Figtree11 has said, it's really good that you are under the care of the fertility centre, so they can offer specialist advice based on your tests.

I also wouldn't worry about the line being faint at 10dpo. I'm clearly not following my own advice (have been squinting at mine all day!), but this early, it's completely normal for it to be very light. Try to hold off checking with repeat tests, if you can, because hydration etc will have a huge impact.

Superscientist · 12/08/2024 15:42

Exciting @ExTriTrying finger's crossed for you!

Morning ladies, I've booked my first scan. Will be scanned at 8 weeks but I'm 10dpo today and feel like the line is still feint. It's definitely a bit darker but still feint. I hate how worry has replaced joy

That is good! I am 4 weeks and 3 days today and my anxiety comes and goes. Finally today I made up my mind to do the self referral which helps to reduce my anxiety and fear, also something positive to look forward to. I plan to do an early private scan when I am 6.5 /7 weeks because it is better to check if everything is fine than being sorry. Will check HCG twice a day and use RHR and CBT to monitor the progress. Have to be positive and remember to thank my heart and body at the end of every day to keep me and the poopy seed alive. Good luck to you with managing the anxiety!

I told DH yesterday. I dressed the dogs in little bandanas that said I'm going to be a big sister soon. He burst into tears 🥹😂

So sweet!

CadoAvo · 12/08/2024 13:44

Oh @Ella31 I'm still smiling for you. I know you'll prob do nothing but stress, but please try to not stress too much.

Did the doctor offer you progesterone?

I'm just heading into my fertile week. Ovulation expected on Friday 🤞🏼

Figtree11 · 12/08/2024 13:32

@Ella31 the good thing is that you are now under the care of the fertility place so that they can act now on the progesterone. I got a progesterone prescription same day before, so hopefully they can start you on that.
Its looking positive that you are testing positive, have no bleeding, and it’s been picked up so early

Ella31 · 12/08/2024 13:26

ThelastRolo20 · 12/08/2024 13:20

Hopefully they can get you a prescription asap. If you're not bleeding then it's still high enough at the moment xx

Doctor just said what you said. Do you think there's a chance for me. I'm 10dpo and normal digital was positive today
