Thanks for suggesting that I start this thread - its a real honour. Won't be leaving it yet as am only on cd24, despite getting bfps from the 3 tests I have done today (paranoid or what?!).
Lots and lots of babydust to everyone. If this pg is successful, I will have conceived in the midst of an awful cold so that should give everyone some hope. Lots and lots of hugs.....

Toooooo early RudyDudy you'll get that BFP any day now!!

Oh Jed i know exactly how you feel. Remember my Dr was blunt like that too they might as well just rip your heart out and stop on it in front of you . I know what it feels like too when IVF is mentioned you just dont want to be one of those IVF people you think to yourself. BUT as my Dr put it...."you can wait and do more test after test then wait for some more OR.....You can start IVF now and have success!!!
But surely you will have to do some test b4 even being able to start ivf anyway. Sorry that it is so much money to do it there i suppose thats where we are lucky that the government funds alot of it here i know that i was under the impression that it would cost us around $7000 for the first shot at it but what i rang around i was quite supprised that it was only $2,500 and that you get most of it back from the government. I would suggest you ring around if you decide to go down this road as i have read from the ivf chat rooms that some clinics differ in prices. Try that chat room if you want i think it is www.ivfconnections.com
To be honest with you i feel more....mmmm how do i explain???? relaxed....no more like there is light at the end of the tunnel i do know that i have blocked tubes and that i proberly cant conceive naturally again but i feel like i have a chance now where as b4 i was so much in limbo not knowing what was wrong stressed me more than knowing that we are doing ivf. I know that i havent been through the disappointment yet of a failed cycle so i will proberly feel alot different Mid March if i get the BFN but i have also had that for the past year anyway its just that the bfn would have cost me this time and i would have had a month of being a looney tunes on hormones!
Sorry i am going on but i really know how you are feeling atm and it just plain old SUCKS!
How does DH feel about it? Are you in a position to do it? (if you dont mind me asking) i know that we are way too broke (with dh starting a new business) for us to pay for it but my mum and grandmother want another grandchild so badly that they have been kind enough to help out they see it as a great investment
Jed iam sorry that you are going throu this but if you would like to ask me anything i will be happy to help.
Lots of love to you.
Tania

Following a conversation with DH at 2am today... we are now officially TTC!!! So excited, but trying not to get my hopes up. Miscarriages after the first baby and before the second run in every female in my family... possible some heartache to come.

nasa · 26/01/2005 11:13

well I'm coming back after lurking for months and months (I used to post as katierocket, krocket and now nasa). Still be following you all but was trying not to get too obsessed about ttc. Anyway - 9 months on I'm so fed up with it all. It's grim isn't it - and why does everyone around me in RL seem so bloody fertile?! AF arrived today - again so very fed up. NOt sure I'm oving actually as I don't get EWCM. Also, I've not used OV tests every month but when I have I've not had a postive result. Going to docs next monday -can't believe it's TTC 17 - I think when I started it was about 7 or 8...

munnzieb · 26/01/2005 09:24

Hula - Dr didn't get in touch, what are you going to do now instead of teach? or are you going supply? any news ur end?

Rudy - it's too early hon! on my large percription pad I have advised a big bar of dairy milk! : talking of which actually DH went to the shop yesterday and brough me back one of the 200g bars, 'just because' (I think he knows i'm still miffed about my apt and the fact ppl are not returning my calls from the Army and also the drs, - they know I want to have a go at them all! lol)

Good luck Tania - fingers crossed - and now I don't ant you snorting tooo much of this srpay stuff ok..... u'll be no good to us then!

Cockenzie - Good to see you back hon, have you got ur new house sorted?

Rudy/Jedds, DH has agreed to stop smoking (of his own accord btw,) he's been paying £7 for 200 in Iraq and doesn't want to be payin £5 per pack over here, at least I've told him if he still wants to smoke he'll be back on the baccy, which he doesn't want to do, which is good cos after 3 months of a non smoking house the house reeks of fags, and I mean reeks, even thou the windows are all open - then again his parents both smoke as well, so we've had extra, but once he stops it will be a non smoking house, will urs be, or would you still allow smoking?

MG - BD every other day if you can manage it that much (least that's howe often we do it)

marinda - only one more day hon, we're all here for you if you're feelin down. don't worry about it hon, we all have those days.

any how, we've decided not to try so hard, (thou i'll still be using persona and also postin here if you don't mind) but i'm just gettin sooo stressed out with it all, that everything is the right time,a nd the bloody drs etc.. i'm sure it can't be good for me, mainly cos I keep eating a shed ful of choc! lol. any how, we agreed yesterday, and I must say last night was better than any since he's been back which must be good? anyhow, i'm off to wake him up now! - u know, all last week I wanted to pojke him and wake him up so I could talk to him again, (but resisted) then yesterday, I was mid dream of Gil Grissom from CSI, and DH poked me in the ear so I would talk to him....... I mean ....... How rude is that! lol, so now i'm gonna go get my own back!

munnzieb · 26/01/2005 08:52

OMG Jedds, what a B***d, ur doctor is, is there no other doctor you can see? I'm gob smacked for you. can you talk to your normal GP? I would suggest you speak to your normal one to see if theres any other gyno you can see, poss an infertilty specialist (thou this is now the one i'm waitin for and it's a 6 month list) in the mean while go for your visits and other checks, and push for the whole tubes issue, IVF should really only be a last resort once all other avenues have been exhausted (in my opinion thou) any use in going with BUPA? (we're currently looking into it)

RudyDudy · 26/01/2005 07:27

(((jedds))) - OMG. Honey, you poor thing. What an sbsoulete WANKER of a Dr. No matter what is going on he should never have made you feel that way. God, it gets me so when I hear about Drs with NO communication skills. Sorry, won't go off on that particular rant now...

Have to dash now and don't want to offer som half cocked advice but will read your post properly later. In the meantime just remember that you don't have to decide anything today and you musn't feel backed into a corner.

btw - my consultant told me that stopping smoking has an almost instant (ie days) positive effect on sperm count. DH only smokes when he's out drinking but if I'm not pg this month will be asking him to stop around Ov time at least from now on. I would say that is definitely worth a try - or certainly more research.

chat later. lol RD xxx

RudyDudy · 26/01/2005 07:21

just a quickie to let you know that I am weak and tested this morning (11dpo). Was, of course, a BFN. Sure I'm not pg and it's too early but still disappointing.

How are you doing Marinda and Hula?

have to dash now to get DS up and get ready but will catch up properly later...

jeddah · 26/01/2005 07:16

well girls........
had our appointment yesterday and to be honest we are both still upset and in shock at how negative the Dr was!

He asked a few questions (5 mins max)told me that all OPK and persona are crap and a waste of money (laughing down his nose!) put our notes down and said...... 'the only chance you both have of having a baby is IVF'!!!!!!

I was speechless!.....what about all the investigations to examine my tubes/ovaries etc etc etc............

My dh sperm count is low and combined with my age he said the chances of us becoming pregnant is.......'very very unlikely'! and time is a big factor

Apparantly my fertility drops dramatically when I am 42yrs (10 months time)......and because dh has a low (moderately low) count...at the mo I have a 2% chance of being preggers and if we had IVF ours cahnces rise to 7-8%.....and wait for it.........it will cost us £3500-£4000 for one attempt!

I asked if dh gave up smoking and changed lifestyle would that help in us concieving naturally,,,,,,, he said it may help a little and that...... 'people do win the lottery'!!!!!! (meaning that million to one chances do happen!!!!!!)

There are now lots of issues from this that we have to deal with and I am just so shocked!

Do we pay £4000 to increase our chances to 7-8%????

Do we still try naturally for another 6 months??(as he said miracles do happen!)

Do we forget the whole thing?

We are going back for another hormone test (te see quality of my eggs and quality of dh sperm in a months time and an appointment to discuss future plans on 18th March.

Tania2 · 26/01/2005 04:18

G'day girls,
Just spent nearly 1 hour catching up but really it doesnt suprise me i have been away for so long .
Morningpaper congratulations!
Yingers so sorry about you m/c take care of yourself.
Munzie sorry about your appointment i have been there the hospital made me wait 7 months for my lap & dye and i was only meant to wait 3. It makes you so mad doenst it. I would ring every week for a cancellation appointment eventually the secratary will get the msg and will just fit you in so you stop bugging her worth a try anyway and at least you will feel like you are doing something. Thank you so much for thinking of me I was starting to wonder if you all had forgotten about me as i havent been around. Feeling abit lost atm dont really belong on any threads. Not many people doing ivf on this site and the aussie sites are not as busy as this one you can wait days b4 someone posts a msg
Jeddah what happened at your appointment hope you are ok. (((((hugs))))))
Good luck to those waiting to test.
Well not much happening here. Start the first lot of ivf drugs next Wednesday that one is the spray that you snif twice a day for 2 weeks then i start the injections around the 16th of Feb and hopfully have the embrio transfer in the last week of Feb to the first week in March then 2 weeks after that i find out if it worked or not [worried face icon] when we find out that we are pg we are only 2 weeks pg. isnt that the longest wait till the safe time 12weeks. Then keeping it a secret for that long i didnt find out i was pg with ds until i was 7.5 weeks. We would be due around the 5th of December if i carry full term if i dont then i could have the baby on ds 3rd birthday
Oh just listen to me going on like iam already pg i will be in for a real shock if it fails mustnt think like it will work first shot should i.
Anyway hope the rest of you are well and i will pop in more often.
Love to you all and Baby dust all round.
Tania

jeddah · 25/01/2005 22:31

girls, had my appointment at gynae clinic today, quite upset.......I will talk later.

Marinda testing ai always best 14dpo....if you can wait!

marinda · 25/01/2005 22:29

I'm CD30 - n sign of AF. Have symptoms but do not seem like normal AF - then again what's normal - will probably cave in and test soon. Thanks for update on Hester Munzie.
Rudt are you there ? When are you testing ?
Not much from me really other than keep worrying that if I do get pg - chances of miscarriage are 1 in 4. Sorry just miserable and paranoid - wish It was Thursday. Been caught out too many times before to do too eary a test ! Hang in there with me Hula and Rudy !!!!
Tessiebear - Beckif has not posted on this thread for a while but she had a thread going on employment issues - she was having trouble - thread is still there I think.
Hi Wog - if you feel up to it give us some stats - ie : How long have you been TTC ? Your age (if you feel you want to!_ Our stats I think are on bottom of this thread or the thread before on TTC - have a look !!

Hulababy · 25/01/2005 21:39

wog - was it proper bleeding on 20th, rather than spotting? If so the 20th was CD1, so you are now on CD6 today.

No AF yet, but symptoms remain.

Resigned from my job today It is now all done and over. I leave school teaching at Easter - 13 full working days left to deal with. Getting more and more managable now I can count down.

Where is everyone today again? How's everyone doing?

Munnzeib - did Dr get in touch? Have you spoken to them yet about the reasons why?

Tessiebear · 25/01/2005 19:53

Just wondering as i saw this thread - is BeckiF still around - has anyone heard anything from her???

wog · 25/01/2005 19:32

Thanks everyone is great to chat others about ttc - so I'm still trying to get my head round all the lingo - if I started bleeding on 20th Jan what cycle day am I on? oh and should I REALLY be having hanky panky everyday or is that just obbsessive?

munnzieb · 25/01/2005 18:13

just to update you all, Hester's having probs loggin onto MN at the mo. not sure y thou. (will keep all posted as long as she doesn't mind either)

munnzieb · 25/01/2005 18:03

4th Jan.

pickledonion · 25/01/2005 13:45

right a little advice then please - i started bleeding very lightly on 3rd Jan but had a proper bleed on the 4th Jan so do i take CD1 from the 3rd or the 4th of Jan

munnzieb · 25/01/2005 13:29

(Rudy - MIL OK this visit, apart form extra day's stay.... she asked if was OK and I could hardly say no could I... esp as she's just given me £50 of new look vouchers for xmas.) still was realitvly painless this time.... 3 months thou and we're going up there... so i'll be on the news for murder! lol. well c!)

OOOOhh and my other PG friend had a little boy on saturday morning 1.50am, she was home by 5PM! (and the hosp is an hour from their house!) lol, thou it is her 4th, 8LB, called Brandon william

munnzieb · 25/01/2005 13:27

ello all, MIL has gone - yay! Dr hasn't rung me back yet might well ring him again. as i've had no answer as to why my apt was cancellled, infact I did, the woman on the desk told me that my docs were put in the wrong pile, and she had no reason as to why and she didn't know where my dr got the 3 month waiting list from, i'm a lot calmer about it today, yesterday I was bloody fumin.

Anyhow, Hula - hope AF's not knocking on ur door yet.

Wog - hi and welcome, and don't worry about asking questions, how else will you learn and pass on the wisdom with others? we've been TTC for about 9 months, (6 properly, the rest Dh has been away for)

Jedds - how did u get on today? - come on girl spill it..... all of it.......!

best get off DH's just come home, will stop in again later. Hope every one else is ok thou. .....

P/O still wanting cheese/onion sanries when I read ur name! oooh Rudy.... DH say's not to encourage my Choc ideas! lol, (as if I need encourangement when it comes to choc! lol, but i've just sent him out for some thou!) yay! lol. and what's the pact all about? are ur exams finished yet?? and finally Wheres Tania?? wasn't she ment to be startin the IVF soon? hope all is ok with her.

morningpaper · 25/01/2005 13:23

October 8th due date according to ov - 10th according to AF

Trying not to think about it too much ... AF not even due yet!!!

pickledonion · 25/01/2005 12:53

morning paper -does this mean your having october baby or a late september??

Hulababy · 25/01/2005 08:52

wog - don't worry at all. You'll be addicted to all the TTC stuff and this thread within days regardless of how long you have been trying

I am month 5 - coming to end of it. Cd28 today and 12DPO. However have had AF cramps, and my temp dropped slightly today too, so don't think it is my month.

pickledonion · 25/01/2005 08:49

morning all CD22 here feel very sick this morning but also have a tummy ache so mix signals here.
