Hi ladies!
CD 1 for me today, so I’m moving over from the July thread and starting this one (don’t think there is already one).
Anyone else now ttc for a BFP in August??

@km9371 Ahhh congratulations!!

lauraa39 · 15/08/2024 13:02

I took my last contraceptive pill on the 24th of July so 3 weeks ago yesterday. I don’t really know when I ovulated or when I should be due on as I didn’t have periods on my pill. I used a clear blue ovulation kit for the first time last Tuesday and got a static smiley face straight away which is weird because I thought the first test was always a baseline circle? Anyway it would make sense as I had a lot of EWCM Monday - Tuesday last week so I would suspect it was around ovulation. My question is really when should I test?

@Feelinghappy19 I don’t think you should worry. If you look back at my last post I was talking about this too with natural cycles. Last month it said I ovulated on day 16, but looking back I think it was day 13. I think the ovulation tests are much more accurate than natural cycles, so I would feel reassured that you probably did it at the right time.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen any of Dr Natalie Crawford’s videos on YouTube? She’s a fertility Dr and she talks about ovulation, BBT, ovulation tests, cervical mucus (literally everything we talk about in here). Watching her videos has helped me realise my natural cycles is probably wrong and I’m going to focus on ovulation tests and cervical mucus this month. If you watch any of these videos I’d love to know what you think :)

Thank you I will do! I started reading the thread this morning but there was so many messages I think I missed that. I was also really annoyed that I’d missed the days by so much! I will have a look and let you know what I think! Thank you ❤️

@BlueberryPoppy123 my gp won't run any tests for me - but it's always worth asking!

BlueberryPoppy123 · 15/08/2024 10:52

Feelinghappy19 · 15/08/2024 07:45

The gp can check to make sure you’ve ovulated via a blood test :)

Can they? I find getting through to my Drs such a challenge even for 'normal' every day type tests. How would I request bloods to check ovulation. I was under the impression I had to wait 6 months to have any sort of tests. Would it be just requesting on an consult type thing could I request it now or would it be too late? Sorry for all the questions x

BFN this morning but temp still elevated CD 38

I don't see anything in this picture, sorry :( But 7DPO is SO early. I also tested very early this cycle and wish I hadn't. 7DPO was my test and it was a BFN

I think I'm gonna have to re-think how I do this next month. I'm 10DPO this morning, and still a BFN so I think I'm out. When I was pregnant before I tested at 12DPO but got a pretty strong line, so I'd imagined taht if I had tested at 10/11dpo it would have shown up.

Also finding out my friend was pregnant yesterday has really thrown me. I am so super super happy for her, but it was very unexpected as they weren't trying yet becuase she hadn't got her period back after the last baby. Our DCs are 2 weeks apart, and last night I got excited because if I did get pregnant this cycle we would be 2 weeks apart again. I know it's stupid, and even if I get pregnant in the next few months we'll still overlap.

I think next month I'm not going to buy any tests until much later, so I don't even have the option to test early.

I like her too but I’d watch her interview on Diary of a CEO with caution as the initial introduction and quite sensationalist editing has made me feel like I need a rocket up my arse with TTC! I know she’s just being honest and I knew all this anyway but still found it quite sobering and confronting tbh. 😂

This is also my concern. I have no period like symptoms usual for me. It's my first month tracking bbt and so I'm trying to get used to it but I'd agree with you. No spike like I've seen in others. I'm 35 so also worried I'm not ovulating at all. Only on cycle 3 though. Been doing opks the last 2 cycles and neither have had a lh spike 😫 but need to wait 6 months before going to Drs. Still going to test today and see what it shows 🙈

Blue2020 · 15/08/2024 04:53

@BlueberryPoppy123 do you know when you ovulated? Your graph has consistently stayed high since the 11th August. I know Premom says 1st but I might even guess that you are only 5dpo and ovulated around the 10th August. I could be completely wrong and sorry if I am, I’m just going off where your pre-ovulation temps are and then where there is a rise and remained high for at least three days.

In theory that’s how it works to use bbt, in practice things like illness and outside factors can affect it, having a drink, sleeping with your mouth open (assuming it’s oral temp) or going to the toilet in the hours before etc.

You could try putting your temps in to fertility friend and seeing if it puts crosshairs for an ovulation day.

Hi, hope it’s okay that I’m joining, I’ve been tracking my temp using the natural cycles app and I’ve also used ovulation sticks this month. Cd 14 we got a pos ovulation stick so dd loads, probably the most we’ve done. I’ve since had a notification on my natural cycles app that I ovulation according to my temp on cd22 which means I’ve missed it completely! I’m so disappointed! I also don’t understand why the stick was positive then if I didn’t ovulate until later in the month!

I just love the term 'shag week' 😂

My friend once described it as "oi babe, the pee sticks are telling us to shag" and I've been laughing about it ever since.

Tintinuviel · 15/08/2024 00:30

OliveTraybake · 12/08/2024 08:06

I would save the clear blue until a missed period and continue with cheapies until then xx

This is what I do. I buy cheapies like wondfo - 20 pregnancy tests and 50 LH tests for a tenner, and save the clearblue or FRER for if I actually think something is happening.

Today is CD2 and I can't wait for Aunty Flo to leave. 😅

lv565 · 14/08/2024 22:43

Hey everyone,

Not sure if we can share links in here but I’ll try. I heard this fertility Dr on the diary of a CEO podcast by Stephen Bartlett a few months ago and I’ve been watching her YouTube videos. They’re so informative! I’d love to know what you all think too ☺️ Dr Natalie Crawford She has videos on literally everything we talk about in here.

I’ve figured out that my cycle tracking app is getting my ovulation wrong based on my BBT (I use natural cycles and track with my oura ring). Last month it said I ovulated on day 16. We dtd on days 15-18 (because it initially estimated I would ovulate on day 18). But I actually think I ovulated on day 13! (I had a 26 day cycle last month). If that’s true then day 15 was too late to start trying, so we had no chance!

This month I’m more prepared and I’ve started testing for LH today (day 9), so I’ll see what happens!

I can't take credit for that 😅it was penned by someone a few months ago. She called her period 'shark week' and fertile window 'shag week'. I don't think we came up for anything for two week wait, maybe like 'symptom spotting fortnight'?

BlueberryPoppy123 · 14/08/2024 21:56

Might help to actually post the chart 😂
