Second cycle after CP- CD16: Failed to ovulate and spotting? Help! (sensitive images!)

Everything was on track until today. My BBT stays elevated and today is CD16. I expected to have LH surge but instead LH level has decreased a bit. I am not surprised about it because my body failed to attempt to ovulate for 3 times before I got LH surge last cycle after CP.
However I didn't expect to see a bit of fresh blood in the tissue when I wiped down there. So I inserted the tampon just to make sure it was real. It is indeed blood. I believe I am spotting.
I have never experienced it during mid cycle and I have checked everything about my body and my hormone levels which are all normal.
I don't know what is going on, please help!

@GreenPickle FF does that once you have three consecutive high temps. I don’t know if it also uses extra info too eg peak/opk. I think it sometimes stays dashed if it doesn’t like something- like a contradicting info. Maybe because you added illness data I have no idea.

Blue2020 · 04/07/2024 22:57

@GreenPickle I have had illness twice and it delayed my ovulation both times by about 6-7 days. I don’t know what happens if it’s so close to ovulation though, if your body realised it was ill before it’s true peak or if it still ovulated. That would be interesting to know. For me it was a few days before I should have ovulated when I got a bad sickness bug and quite bad dehydration. The other time it was at the start of the cycle but still pushed it back by that number of days.

It’s a good idea to keep tracking, to be sure one way or the other due to the illness.

Good luck, in theory I’m one day behind you (assuming we both ovulated).

Interesting! My temp is still fairly high and FF has put crosshairs now with my baseline being 36.53

will just carry on testing and look at this chart tentatively as i could be running a fever

@Blue2020 i am in the same boat as you!

my CB digital turned peak on CD17 and I had my darkest OPKs (not quite peak).

my temp then spiked but I am also ill so I am wondering if it’s to do with that.

please keep us updated!

i am going to carry on testing anyway to see what happens as last month my OPKs were getting high and I finally ovulated on CD30 (normally my cycles are 32 days but I had an MC the cycle before so it messed me up!).

@LucyCL I avoid testing early, I just get disappointed. I did test one cycle at around 12dpo and it was negative that cycle. I think that was the cycle after my mc.

The first time I got a positive I tested the day my period was due. I wasn’t expecting it at all.

The second time I tested at 5.5 weeks, I was on holiday and the one chemist we passed didn’t have it on the shelf so I thought why bother. I was ready for AF and I was enjoying my holiday. As each day went by I had a feeling I might be pregnant.

@LucyCL I think about 13 days but I’m not certain.

For my both BFPs, I got faint lines on 10 dpo. What about you?

@LucyCL I think I will just wait until AF arrives or 14/15dpo whichever comes first. When will you test?

I have started to test from 1/2 dpo. I know it will be stark white for a while however I'd like to see the line progression. I also test LH twice a day just to see if it gets darker or lighter.
How long does your luteal phase last usually? Mine lasts for 11 - 12 days.

My temperature has risen this morning so it’s a sign that I ovulated, I’m 1-2dpo now.

That is good news! 😀Currently I am 2/3 dpo. When do you plan to test?

Ah, I realised that you tested LH quite frequently on CD16 and CD17. Could your urine be diluted to cause LH to drop?
It is better to test LH in the morning and in the afternoon.

Yes maybe it was the timing or maybe it was a bit diluted.

I hope you get good news this cycle. What day are you on now? Is it 2dpo? So hopefully not too long to wait to find out.

LucyCL · 03/07/2024 21:09

Blue2020 · 03/07/2024 20:58

Oh yes I’m using the wrist temperature and bbt too.

No my lh tests have completely dropped now back to nothing. I have attached a photo of my tests.

@LucyCL sorry no, I had the mc in 2022 then conceived my son three months after that. I used lh tests and bbt then because my periods were incredibly light after the miscarriage, so I tracked to check if I was ovulating.

I am in my second cycle after stopping the mini pill though. The first cycle after a proper period.

I see. You conceived 3 months after MC which gives me hope. I came off the BC pill last April and didn't track my LH levels until last October. I am sorry I can't help you to find out why your LH is dropping but I have been told that you are quite fertile within the first two months after you stop the pills.
The reason why I didn't ttc until last October was because I wanted to give 6 months for my body to get back to normal.

@LucyCL I guess the cycle directly after my miscarriage/surgery I lm not sure if I did because of the symptoms and the almost non existent bleeding for AF. That’s what made me start tracking, I wanted to know if I had ovulated.

I possibly have ovulated, it’s just that I have always seen the lh test line darker than the control in previous cycles. This time it said high 0.81, so it’s just if that’s strong enough to release the egg or whatever else lh does? I suppose I could have missed the highest point, I checked four times in the day.

Are you also in the second cycle after your MC? 0.81 is a good number if your LH continues to rise. I remember you are also using the wrist temperature to track BBT, is that correct?

@LucyCL my lh strips have gone low again now so I don’t know if it’s ovulation day today or if it tried and failed to release an egg and it will again soon. I’m hoping bbt will be helpful if it rises in the next 1-2 days, if it doesn’t I will assume it will build back up to it again and I need to continue testing.

Has your body failed to ovulate before? Mine failed 3-4 times in the post CP cycle and the current one.

@LucyCL yes, or almost. Let me add in my other two, these are from 2022 when I first started tracking. The cd NA cycle is the one I conceived and had ds. I will add the bbt chart for it too if you want (the bbt is to match the cd NA cycle. I did stop bbt a few days after that ovulation due to going on holiday.

I am looking at your BBT chart and comparing it to mine, that makes me believe that the day when we get BBT dip is the O day. Because BBT rises after ovulation.
I hope you will get the peak soon!!

@LucyCL I missed this post.

So before today I would have said the peak day is the day before ovulation. However now I have no idea with my cramping. Online it says the peak happens ~ 24hrs before ovulation. Some says 24-36hrs but I think peak it’s ~24hrs. It says different in different places.I guess you have to be sure you caught your peak too at the right time, it could have happened hours before then so then ovulation comes sooner? That’s not specifically to you just a general comment, I wonder with mine sometimes.

My app is saying I’ve had my peak but the line isn’t as dark as the control like yours or like my previous times. So I’m unsure. Maybe it will rise to peak tomorrow or maybe I missed it.

I have this feeling that you will get your real peak soon.

Blue2020 · 02/07/2024 20:31

You had high on cd21 and 22, the cd21 also looks like the test and control are equal so it could be a peak. That’s tricky, I would guess today is ovulation for you. I could be wrong and it could be tomorrow.

Today my LH has been decreasing so I got my peak on CD21 in the late evening then CD22 for the whole day. This morning it was not positive anymore. Tomorrow I will use Mira to confirm ovulation. If my pdg is above 5, then ovulation happened.
It is always hard to tell when you ovulate after you get the peak.
