Page 4 | Clexane Drop Wastage

Hi there, I am taking Clexane at the moment, once I've administered a dose in my stomach I press the top to close the needle and a little squirt comes out, is this bad? Does it mean I'm not getting the full dosage? Not sure why it happens, please can someone shed some light. Many thanks.

No tmi for me! It's exactly same for me, I don't think I can do better than that 😂 also it is causing some loose stools potentially, I've read that as long as it's not within the first 30 min, it should be ok.

Thanks for this, yes I've heard something like this. I think I can wait for a scan but the spotting made me anxious. My bleed was quite minor at 2am and now it's brown spotting. I've started doing the pessary rectally in case that's the issue. I'll email my clinic and also call my doctor. Thank you for the advice xx

EPU just said if I'm in pain or the bleeding gets worse then I need to go to A&E so I'll just see how get on today.

I'm in london. A private clinic here did tell me to stop clexane for few days if bleeding, you might want to ask your clinic.

@Peaches1407 at this stage they will likely only find a sac which is hopefully in the right place. Hopefully they also can see where the bleed is coming from. Yolk, fetal pole, heartbeat may not be there, so don't expect it.
I'm in london. A private clinic here did tell me to stop clexane for few days if bleeding, you might want to ask your clinic.

I've had a bit of bleeding overnight, I'm not sure what to even do. I'm only 5 weeks 4 days or thereabouts. Should I call EPU? I have a scan with my private clinic at 7 weeks. I'm scared now 😢

I think it's probably that when we give it to ourselves we can't get the right pressure. Don't worry though as it sounds like you both have the right technique and the tiny bit that comes out really is minimal.

Yes I'm trying to avoid 6 weeks as I'll be silently waiting for heartbeat and it'll just spoil the whole week. I was thinking 5+5 just to see if there is even sac and maybe egg yolk, but I feel like since nothing can be changed I might as well wait until 6+5.

Lol we will have to accept it's a quirk of the injection. I don't have many symptoms either, occasional mild cramps but I do get physically tired when im walking. Let's hope that this works out for us, I'm trying to take it day by day and focus on other things and also watching trashy telly really distracts me!

Ah good idea! Hope that eases the spotting for me.
This morning I did the injection, I pushed as much as possible, 10 seconds and still got the bit in the end, so I think it's totally normal.
Now my next worry is why I don't have any symptoms whatsoever.. I had 1 day of headache on dpo 9 and that's it since then... Usually I have a lot of symptoms with pregnancies...

I've had to use clexane throughout 2 pregnancies because of a blood clotting disorder and used to notice this sometimes. I remember googling it once and was reassured that the amount that squirts out is absolutely tiny and won't make any difference at all. I was always afraid to push the syringe down too far whilst it was in my skin because I thought the safety cap might ping down on me 😂 and I noticed the last bit didn't tend to shoot down until you pushed down pretty hard on the syringe. I sometimes was given the syringes without the safety mechanism thing and they were better as you could push the syringe right down.

I didn't bruise too badly and I think the best tip I read was to not touch the area at all afterwards. I also pinched a good inch! I still had some bruising but it wasn't too bad most of the time.

Nurse here.
You don't need to take the air bubble out of the pre filled syringe prior to administration.
Pinch the skin between thumb and index finger, insert and leave needle in for at least 10 seconds to ensure you are receiving full dose!

No I'm putting them in as straight as I can. I saw a video on YouTube, there are quite a few and that was helpful.

Sorry another question (it's my first time with clexane), are you having any bruises?
