Hi ladies.

It's my third month trying to get pregnant. I'm 39 years old, my partner is 40, and I've never been pregnant before. I'm dpo11 and starting to get nervous.

Is there anybody else in a similar situation? I'm just trying to find somebody who's going through this as well.

Good luck to all of you.

Have many of you had your ovarian reserve ( amh ) tested ?

I had that tested today

PennyPencils · 18/07/2024 11:09

6dpo here. Had the same twinges in boobs but i do get that along with mild cramps from ovulation these days so I'm not expecting success this month. ... But still hoping of course.

houserenohelp · 17/07/2024 18:15

Caved in today 5 days til period due but negative.
I have sore nipples still and sore head but I get that with pmt, still hoping there might be a chance

houserenohelp · 13/07/2024 17:43

@Joleyjojo I'm not sure! Abit maybe but this does feel abit different but I could just be being hopeful.
They aren't sore just abit sensitive especially the nipples

worldwidetravel2017 · 13/07/2024 07:47

@BarnacleBeasley kind of off topic but I was wondering just now whether same-sex couples have far better success rates with IVF than average, including at higher ages. Because the reason for seeking treatment isn't necessarily years of trying other things.

Congratulations on your double success btw - how lovely. And to @Joleyjojo too.

Edited

Thank you ☺️
I have never really thought about it but your probably right tbh. When you think why heterosexual couples have IVF compared to same sex it would make sense xx

I'm 5 days past ovulation today, my boobs are sore but surely too early for that?!
According to flo boobs can be tender at this time in a normal cycle
I hate waiting!

Hurt boobs are such a funny one. I don’t tend to get them with AF. I have had them since about 8dpo and got my BFP at 9/10dpo. And that is the only symptom I have had and I am. Now 16/17 DPO.
Do you usually get sore boobs with AF? Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 for you xxx

How's everyone doing? I'm 12 dpo today. I tested negative 2 days ago... I think I might be out this month as well, I don't feel anything out of the ordinary. I'm currently just waiting to see if my period starts. I'm due on Monday. 😑

If you tested 2 days ago you was only 10dpo so maybe a little early 🤞🏼
I got my 2-3 on digi today which I never got with my chemical pregnancy last month.

hope everyone is doing ok xxx

@sirensong I wouldn't be surprised, but I don't know really. I do remember that we were quite naive about it the first time and just assumed we'd be successful because we both had a high ovarian reserve. But there are all sorts of reasons why IVF might not work work, including chance, and the second time we did fully realise how lucky we were.

The other reason lesbian couples might have a higher chance of success is that if you use donor sperm from a sperm bank it will be on average higher quality than if you're a heterosexual couple who have had difficulty conceiving already. I think I read somewhere that about a third of fertility issues in straight couples are due to issues with the woman, a third with the man, and a third where both partners have fertility issues.

Aww 😊 congratulations 🎊 @Joleyjojo . Enjoy the moment. Everything will be OK.

I agree with @sirensong - my situation is slightly different as I'm in a same-sex couple so we had IVF and were lucky enough to have two babies in our late 30s and early 40s. But the first step was to have a fertility assessment to estimate our ovarian reserve and likely chances of success. If you have a spare £500ish, you and your partner could do this privately and then you'll know how likely it is that you'll conceive naturally, or if you might need fertility treatment (in which case, the sooner you get started, the better your chance of success).

@Joleyjojo I can definitely see a line. Wait a couple of days and test again. So exciting 😁

Suggest that at this age all of the tests are done sooner rather than later to get a sense of where you're at, as receptivity to conception begins to vary wildly and particular action may be needed if your heart is set on it.

disse · 07/07/2024 11:30

I think at your age (also my age), you can’t just leave it to chance. You need to use ovulation sticks to see when you’re actually ovulating. I highly recommend the Easy at Home ones used in conjunction with the PreMom app to measure and record the lines.

Start at 8dpo, one a day. Same time every day and never with FMU. As the second line starts to get stronger, test twice or even three times a day to identify your peak. Once you have found your peak, that day and the day after (ovulation day) are the best times to conceive.

You’ll read that sperm can live five days - only about 2-5% actually do so. The vast majority live 48 hours so accurate timing in line with ovulation is key.

Get your 35+ men on a Wellman Conception daily tablet. Leave it at least 24 hours (ideally more) between ejaculating for better sperm quality (remember there is a reason IVF clinics say the man can’t ejaculate for three days before egg retrieval).

Take CQ10 supplements for your own egg quality. The Kaneka form of the supplement is better. Take at least 200mg daily but higher is better if you can afford it.

Best of luck everyone!

Joleyjojo · 07/07/2024 07:32

I’m a bit in shock and not sure I believe it due to CP last month but I may have got a BFP at 10dpo , it’s definitely a squinter but the photos don’t do it justice I have darkend it in one of the pics. What do you think ? X

had a few chemicals in that time so have stopped all testing and trying not to think about it and hope it just happens.
hope to see everyone’s bfps soon

Joleyjojo · 06/07/2024 08:18
