I'm 47. Should I believe this?

Just turned 47 and got this result on an easy at home test (mid morning, same result mid afternoon)

5 weeks since last period (usually fairly regular at 28 days - been a little less regular over last few months, so assumed perimenopause was starting)

Not actually ttc, but definitely not doing anything to prevent it.

So.... would you believe this result?
Or could I be getting a false result because I'm in/near perimenopause?

I'm 47. Should I believe this?

Good news so far. Keep us posted OP!!

Congratulations! My eldest sister had been married two years, when my Mum had my youngest sister! Mum had her first pregnancy very young 17 years old, and her last when she was 44!

Olika · 13/06/2024 16:28

All the best! 🤞🏼

Zonder · 13/06/2024 16:27

Hoping for the best for you.

AlwaysCloudyAtNoon · 13/06/2024 16:24

I'm very excited for you OP (and possibly a little envious, although I am 51 now).

lizziecat1 · 13/06/2024 15:34

So.... had a scan this morning, and it's very early - too early to say whether it's developing into a viable pregnancy or not. Matches my estimate of late ovulation, and nothing seen on scan to indicate a problem given those dates.
So more waiting...... another scan in a week to see what's happening.
But I guess, for now, I'm as pregnant as I can be!

Thank you for all your moral support, everyone!

Sigh. It's NOT a myth.
Again, not the case of the OP but menopausal women CAN and do have HCG of up to 25miu/mg.

Rare but it does happen.

Edited

I thought the same thing-menopause can show a positive pregnancy test.i was 38 falling pregnant this time.
Midwife was adamant a menopause couldn't show a positive test, hence me saying so.

My midwife told me you can't get a false positive-only a false negative.The menopause one is just a myth,it won't show a false positive.The clearblue digital ones aren't reliable,mine said 2-3 weeks and I was infact,nearly 4 months pregnant.Thats a definite positive-congratulations 😊

that is not true, I have had false positives in the menopause, and I am totally celibate
