I'm 47. Should I believe this?

Just turned 47 and got this result on an easy at home test (mid morning, same result mid afternoon)

5 weeks since last period (usually fairly regular at 28 days - been a little less regular over last few months, so assumed perimenopause was starting)

Not actually ttc, but definitely not doing anything to prevent it.

So.... would you believe this result?
Or could I be getting a false result because I'm in/near perimenopause?

I'm 47. Should I believe this?

So sorry OP, thinking of you xxx

@lizziecat1 - So, so sorry. We were all rooting for you. There’s never anything helpful to say in these circumstances, but you are so much in my thoughts.

A rather sad update, for anyone following this thread.
Second scan today showed no embryo, which means almost certainly this is not a viable pregnancy.
My 47 year old eggs are clearly a little past it.
I'm not surprised - I knew this was a very likely outcome. Still sad though. 😔

I'm so sorry xxx

I am in the same boat. 47 and 8 weeks pregnant 🤦🏼‍♀️. But my outcome is not great

How are you doing? Do you need support?

Sorry to read your update 💐

Its perfectly natural to feel upset over this and it’s ok to take some time to grieve for something that could have been.

asmallcountry · 20/06/2024 16:16

Sorry to hear your latest news @lizziecat1, I was thinking of you and hoping for you.

Italiangreyhound · 20/06/2024 16:11

I'm so sorry, this must be so hard.

If you want to talk, I had a child later in life, 40, then tried for another with donor eggs and eventually adopted a second when I was in my late 40s. Happy to chat on messages here on Mumsnet if that would help and once the initial shock has worn off.

Thinking of you.

BeachParty · 20/06/2024 16:10

So sorry OP just seen your update, this thread was in trending so clicked on as it was asking about believing something at 47, didn't say what board either.
Have reported my post to @MNHQ so hopefully they'll remove it asap Flowers
