Right, so I can't start this thread using anything like..."Here we go ladies!"

So, will have to come up with something completely different....

How about Congratulations Kay!

LOL Moosma, yep that was it, but in reverse!

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 15:57

I felt like I had to have DH with me to show off the fact that I wasn't the stereotypical 'teenage mum' that we were married, and that he was planned and not an accident etc. Felt like that for a long time even after he was born, and to some extent even now, I don't wear gloves even in the bitter winter because I want people to be able to see my wedding ring How sad am I?!!! LOL

It meant, well means a lot to me though that people don't place me in a bracket. And I can feel every old womans eyes on me that has ever looked at me that way. I have been known to purposefully stick my finger up in a slightly obvious way scratching my head or something just so they spot the ring!

Pah, you lot with your minds in the gutter, you thought I meant stick my fingers up to swear at them, didn't you? C'mon tell the truth!!!

MoosMa · 07/04/2008 15:55

Heehee Nat, that reminds me of that film (can't remember which one, maybe a carry on?)

'Mrs Jones I have some good news for you'

'Miss Jones'

'Oh..... Miss Jones I have some bad news for you'

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 15:50

Awww bless him!

I went alone for my first GP appointment(and my first MW one too) The doctor said to me, probably cos I was alone "are you happy?" I of course said yes so he then said "Congratulations what great news" The girl before me was a 14 who was pg and being forced into a termination by her mum(no the gp didn't tell me that her mum did)

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 15:46

I remember when we went to the doctors with my first pregnancy, I said 'I'm Pregnant' and he said something along the lines of "Ooooh, what are we going to do about that then?" and handed me a leaflet about terminations! DH took the leaflet out of my hands gave it back to the GP and said "ermmmmm, I think it normally follows that you have a very well planned and much wanted baby" I could have kissed him

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 15:41

I will do Star, if my old MW hadn't retired I would have just rang her and asked her if I needed to see GP.

Starshinetiger · 07/04/2008 15:36

Hi All, just a quick drop in from me while DS has his nap. First day of my full week off with him and I am really enjoying so far (diet not faring too well - big bar of galaxy when he first went down for nap - ah well, shall just have to run around lots with DS this week !
Kay - what you said sounds fine to say to GP, I know what you mean, as I felt silly every time I had a GP/MW appt in first pg - feel like I am old enough to know what I'm talking about but I don't, IYKWIM.
Nat, glad to hear bump is going down.
LG&T sounds like you are coping amazingly, sorry I don't know anything useful to say, but thinking of you and DD (and your houseful of 10 children this week - I don't know where you get the energy)!
Kayz - do enlighten us how your appt went when you get back, as I'd love to know what I should say to GP if/when it happens to me.

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 14:34

Thanks. I will just say that then.

MoosMa · 07/04/2008 14:30

And you're not silly, just excited!

MoosMa · 07/04/2008 14:29

I think when I went with mine I just said "I'm pregnant" and he did all the talking for me, but yes, what you just said should do the job.

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 14:22

What do I say to the GP? Just that I am pg and I need refering to see the MW.

I am so silly.

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 14:21

The bloody spacebar on my laptop is playing up and its driving me mad. I have to nearly punch it to get it to work.

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 14:20

I cant be bothered to have it out with her. You're right she wouldn't change so it would be pointless.

MoosMa, I'll be about 5 weeks at the weekend and I honestly don't think I can waitmuch longer and keepit quiet.

MoosMa · 07/04/2008 14:16

Hello all, not much to report here today, just lots for me to do and not enough hours in the day as usual!

LG&T you sound very strong coping with everything, and so many children in your house!!! I wish there was something more useful I could say but I just end up rambling. I've added you on FB if that's ok, and like Nat said, if there's any way we can lighten your load

Kay, I'm going to try to wait a bit longer before telling my parents this time, with DD1 I spilled at about 2 weeks, with DD2 I lasted a bit longer, about 4 weeks I think

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 14:15

Sounds like she is just a bitch TBH. And a cowardly one at that, if she can't even say it to you.

I guess it is hurtful but the best thing you can do is just ignore it, take absolutely no notice, it's you and DH in a relationship, not you, DH, and her. You have nothing to prove to her, and neither do you have to bow down to her, she is just another person after all.

Even if you got up the courage to have it out with her, it wouldn't change anything about her, some people are just like this. It's sad for her really, how many people does she have that really love to be around her? Not many I'd expect.

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 14:10

I think its me. But then again she doesn't like either of my SIL's DPs either. But she is very nice to your face and then slags you off to other people.

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 14:08

What's her problem with it? Does she have a thing about you personally, or is it just a case of no one is good enough for her baby?

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 14:05

I probably will do. Its when I am alone having taken ds round or picking him up she'll drop snide comments. I wish she lived in New Zealand or something so we only had to ring her.

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 13:59

I'd go and face the music with him TBH, then whatever she says DH is there to stop you smacking her in the chops with a rolled up pregnancy magazine for back up.

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 13:55

It would be so funny. I'm going to make dh buy her some flowers and send him round to tell her. I can tell him to tell her I feel sick/tired.

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 13:53

No, and neither should you!

Damn it though, I was looking forward to your post about the look on her face when you told her it all in great detail!!! LOL

Still got a non-existant hair on my chin, bloody thing, it is seriously annoying!

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 13:43

I just ignore her and then cry when I am at home. We have even thought about moving back down south to get away from his family. But then I think I am not leaving and moving away from my mum and my friends because they are self centred.

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 13:29

Well you have 2 choices, 1, ignore ignore ignore, or 2 let it go and tell her exactly how you and DH planned your GOF'ing to certain days, and give her some details, when all hell breaks lose, you can blame pregnancy hormones and get yourself off the hook, she will be put firmly in her place, and I doubt would ever bring it up again in case you give her the really sordid details!!

kayzisexpecting · 07/04/2008 13:27

But I have to see her when I drop off and pick up ds. Thats when she will moan and whinge.

NatalieJane · 07/04/2008 13:25

Oooh how exciting, deffo get DH to look after the MIL, he can take the flack then, and hopefully put a cork in her mouth at the mere mention of entrapment.
